Fortunately Bitcoin works just fine without Satoshi.

+1

And now Gavin has it in github anyway. Whoever Satoshi is, (s)he published the paper and the code, and we can take it from here without any further interaction.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

However, since, on the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog, we shouldn't assume that Satoshi belongs to the human species.

Maybe in two to three months someone can submit a /. article regarding Satoshi Nakamoto similarly to http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=11/01/15/016241

And then everybody goes : "who?". And nothing happens... If we would do that with every person/hacker on the internet, slashdot would be overflown with "Zomg, p0wnies, bbq, person x hasn't been online for x months".

<edit>BTW, did someone tried to contact him through email?</edit>

The messenger brings good news!  The Great Creator, Satoshi, speaks though His chosen disciple on earth, Gavin Andresen, to tell us that He exists!

Most of you must be new.  The fact is that there IS no Satoshi Nakamoto.   Bitcoin was actually started by renegade anarchists for the Danish company Aller Media, specifically those working for its Finnish publication "Oho!"  They envisioned a currency that would run amok in the world, without central control.  Some of them are reported to be Satan worshippers.  In fact, Satoshi Nakamoto is simply an anagram for Satanist Amok Oho!

Satoshi Nakamoto is simply an anagram for Satanist Amok Oho!

Also it's an anagram of "Aim OK, shoot Satan", so take your pick!

Also it's an anagram of "Aim OK, shoot Satan", so take your pick!

"Man took oath as is..."
"Ass akin to ham too..."
"Ass hat motion A-OK!"
"Man hiss at oak too."
"Ask sin too ham oat."
"As anti atom shook..."
"Hoist mason at oak."

and many other meaningless nonsense.  But possible.
