When bitcoin goes down, the value of alts go down as well when compared to fiat currencies since we are trading alts with BTC. Another reason is when BTC rate goes down, many people sell alts and try to buy BTC at a lower rate. Some other newbies buy all coins when they see it goes up expecting it will go up always and when they see a drop, they just sell it straight. All these factors will affect Alts.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

according to me the main reason is that china has banned exchanges.
people have panicked a lot and have made drastic and illogical decisions which has lead to this.
also it is due the correction is bitcoin price that was due in the month of jan.
Can you give me a reliable source to prove your opinion? I've heard at least no this time for china to ban exchange site. But as you can see a lot of exchange sites are still operating in the china's region.
Rather than think about fundamental aspect and this should need TA analyzation. How people were rushing to buy crypto when there was a huge demand for that at the end of last year.
But i'm not sure about this year.

Coins is losing its luster with some of its earliest and most avid fans -- criminals -- giving rise to a new breed of virtual currency.

Privacy coins such as monero, designed to avoid tracking, have climbed faster over the past two months as law enforcers adopt software tools to monitor people using bitcoin. A slew of analytic firms such as Chainalysis are getting better at flagging digital hoards linked to crime or money laundering, alerting exchanges and preventing conversion into traditional cash.

Because chinese goverment already banned exchange, and price of bitcoin also dropping. so every altcoins will be affected by the sudden drop of bitcoin.
and many goverments trying to find ways to regulate or ban the cryptomarket.
but im sure everything will go through and stabilize again  Smiley

I think so too. The situation in China has had some impact. But Bitcoin does not belong to any country. Any country can only ban nationals, but can not ban bitcoin.

I think all the coins in every year will definitely decrease but I do not know exactly what makes it down.
Is it because some people lost their wallets and keys? Or because of what? I do not quite understand this point. I am still a novice.

Fear and scare of their bag become worthless, that's caused by FUD news so when you were in panic mode, you can't make any right decision.

Probably you need to immediately imagine that crypto currencies are still a market and the market has ups and downs, falls happen on so many factors and all the same I think one of the main factors is speculation or news coming from developers

This maybe the causes of the price drop
- whales withdraw their cryptocurrencies to invest into something
- many governments announce the illegalization of bitcoin in their country
- too many hoax post who confused people that they should not invest in crypto
- futures contract that they said was affecting it but i know it wasnt
- just some normal volatility and nothing should be afraid of

so much FUD in the market and january has usually been a bad month for crypto, we should hold and keep buying while the prices are down i think because the market will come back and we should see new all the time ATH in the next few months

I agree with you that many factors combined triggered this dramatic slump.
Luckily after all these, people realize that cryptocurrency will always survive and get stronger after every drop.
It is time to head ATH again.

when BTC moves abnormally ALTs react, ALTs investors sell ALTs, buy BTC to get profit from BTC if rising... or sell for fiat to wait next appropriate dip point to buy BTC again, such scenarios come and go and effect pricing in almost all ALTs during such phases.
Threat from government to ban crypto and some other challenges made coins to drop.

there can be many reasons, but in any case, the fall is quite a normal situation in the market after strong growth. especially it is necessary to take into account that the crypto currency market is very young and such strong movements are quite normal. We should be careful when making deals.
