I don't believe that Vitalik is a rich chitter with "only dollars in his eyes."

I believe the problem is that Vitalik is pro BCASH. If you check his tweets he has congratulated Jihan Wu (CEO of Bitmain), can't remember if it was directly to him or to BCASH, once or twice already. He would never want to ruin their relationship together so he allows bitmain to carry on and mine ETH.

For me GPU mining will not die... it will minimize or only few will be using on it. With the price increase of Video Cards and Electricity bills i guess only few will be using the mining.

GPU mining is about decentralization and almost every person can buy a GPU and start mining, making part of the cryptos enviroment

And Jihan and Bitmain are equal to government and banks, the main reason Bitcoin exists...so...

I fully agree with you, Vitalik should understand everything and go to meet the community, yet large asik miners are aimed only at profit here and now.

People are overestimating Vitalik. I watched him many times. He is very passioned about crypto I must give it to him but he is making so many wrong choices lately. Must be his age. He simply lacks the life experience of an adult person. Out there there are many wolves who look like sheep and some of them are trying to be friends with Vitalik. I see that Vitalik having a hard time differing friends from enemies. (He was right about Craig Wright obviously)

In the end, I hope that Eth's protocol upgrade gets passed despite of Vitalik's opposition. Why is eth depending on Vitalik so much anyway? Satoshi left, Charlie Lee dumped his position, why does Vitalik hold so much coins and have the ability to manipulate the project at the same time?

EOS is coming to bite his ass if he doesn't make the right choices soon.

Even is ETH and BWK can't be compared due to huge volume and popularity difference I really like how Bulwark team reacted to asics for Nist5 algo. BWK community is currently voting on 3 various options of overcoming this.

I don't think that GPU mining is gonna die by this year. People started to think in such a manner when the price of Eth started to fall low. In my understanding surely the price will increase, and as a beginning now it has started to move in the forward direction. Hope mining difficulty would increase to some extent, but won't die.

As for ASICs, after Monero and other alts have switched to other encryption algorithms, I think that ASICs producers will no longer be able to manufacture this equipment.

That's right! GPU mining will not die, at least in a few years from now. There are a lot of coins can be mined using graphic cards, even the difficulty is too high for some cryptocurrencies Like BTC or ETH, but if you bought good graphic cards you can still earn a lot of money by doing that.

The thing is, though, you shouldn't count of the price of a coin rising in the future to calculate mining profits. There's no guarantee that coin prices will rise in the future, and adding more variables into something that is already an estimation isn't good.

There is a chance that GPU mining will become continually unprofitable in the mid-term (most cards can break even in around a year, albeit with free electrical costs), but I doubt GPU mining will truly die off. Difficulty will continue to rise, and ETH's supposedly going the route of PoS soon (something rather interesting as no major crypto has successfully turned to a fully PoS system), and these things will lower profitability in the long run, but mining profitability will likely somewhat stabilize in the coming months. The question is what's going to happen after that. It's anybody's guess with everything happening recently and what's planned in the future; 2018's going to be an eventful year for crypto and mining in general.

Monero had a very low miner reward. Hence the reason why it was profitable for like 2 days before evening out.

The issue is more with ETH. If ETH goes away then GPU mining will die. We won't be mining just to make 10 cents a day.

1) ETH goes POS - This is provably about a year or two away and not an issue

2) Bitmain keeps building more and more ASICS - Difficulty will keep increasing linearly

3) GPU manufactures keep increasing their production of GPUs - Difficulty will increase linearly

4) ETH price crashes and goes to like $50/$100 a coin. - Most likely to kill GPU mining fast

Dude that there will always be something to mine makes no sense when it comes to eth and amount of gpus on it...Atm about 80% of all gpus that are being used for mining are on ethereum and what you think will happen with profitability on other coins when all that hash moves on them?Eth pos or asics taking over is death for miners,only large scale operations can survive because they are located in low power price already but even then its not 100% sure
