I don't think it will completely die however your strategy I believe will have to be small startup coins and you will be basically gambling that the one you choose will take off. Otherwise you will loose money as cost will not be covered.

I'm feeling pretty good about things.  I haven't sold any mined coins since December.  Nor am I selling any of the btc, eth, or ltc that I bought last month.  Not in the near future anyway ... Unless something crazy positive happens, I'll just being waiting to see what the next couple of years brings.

analysts put eth around 2000 usd by december but i think they are wrong, it will rise a lot more, world has never been so uncertain and cryptos will be safe haven. 8000 usd eth highest for 2018 that is my bet.

I think  GPU mining will not die this year and in the next too. There will always be coins that can be mined. The question is to preserve and increase profitability. As for ASICs, after Monero and other alts have switched to other encryption algorithms, I think that ASICs producers will no longer be able to manufacture this equipment.

The main thing you forget is that, the commercial plans have being trashed, but what if they start making new machines and starting mining for them and monopolize the market with their power ASIC, it is really possible in the future too, they might not reveal that out in the public but they will mine privately. We might see new GPU produced for mining from major companies this year.

Not saying it isn't possible.  I'll be happy if we get close to ATH's in 2018.  I just wonder how much of the money that was put into crypto in December of 2017 will be cashed out as soon as those people get to a break even point (also wonder how much is still in and how many cashed out at a loss out of fear).  They will break even and get out ... Too much noobs got into mining. Only gpu review comments on Amazon is mining related. The masses of noobs came into the mining game therefore no longer profitable. It's only a service.

I'm sticking with trading mostly and mining with my 30 gpus is just for fun to break even.

I may go with asics as I know less competition their and the benefits tend to harvest after a year if you hold onto the coins.

Gpu your stuck mining trash coins or breaking even on reputable coins.

Don't tell me mining is profitable. If you do your a pleab. I don't care about making an extra buck day. I got better things to focus on.

It's all about upgrading your business service and machine also, since every business is a competition then this kind of event is unavoidable,  though ASICS is much more and most productive than GPU, if GPU prices is much more cheaper than the other but can give enough produce result then I think they can still survive.
