We're on the frontpage of /r/garlicoin. How cool.
https://www.reddit.com/r/garlicoin/comments/7vgoxu/this_probably_isnt_helping_us/

Hey /r/garlicoin Redditors, I expect you to flood this thread with new bitcointalk accounts. Please do, registration button on the top left.
In the meantime, why not tell Garlicoin's developer dictator to actually devote some time in picking a non-broken, ASIC resistant algorithm and incentivize a hardfork? Would you risk getting banned on the Subreddit by telling the truth about this coin's fate if it isn't forked? Hint: It'll die if it won't be forked.

Does a screenshot help? I mean all you had to do was go to the discord and check the announcements... this really isn't hard. I think you just don't care for garlic.

As I said it's maybe a shitcoin, but not a scam. Founders had no intention to scam anyone, at least as we can see this far. The only thing generates deception is you.
First of all. There is a method (thread for scam accusations) to report and investigate scams. Your thread is far from investigation. You posted the ANN thread to get some ez merits, then went into full hater for the same reason. You are just a hypocrite.
The founders keep denying the fact that the coin isn't ASIC resistant. This to my eyes is suspicious to say the least. If it was a mistake, they should admit it and prompt the community to a fork so a truly ASIC resistant algo. What the developers are doing now is trying to continue being deceptive.

If you go on the Discord channel they have addressed the concerns you have brought up.
There are no logs on discord, I can't keep monitoring it all day. Better quote what you're referring to.

The only scam here is clearly u, u should be banned for lying and making up things.  Everything is out on the Discord and Reddit, on Discord its in the announcements section. You dont have to search for any "logs"?

Any links to working ASICs (N-Factor: 10; N: 2048)?
KNC Titan can mine Garlicoin and any scrypt-n coin with an n up to 19. It's a released miner that had went onto production. Units of it are still sold second hand. Very powerful one, mind you.
https://github.com/KnCMiner/knc-asic/blob/d83f1e67785eff0af00175d85564ace840c28186/knc-asic.h#L10

After further investigation, Bitmain's the most reputable manufacturer, L1 miner seems to be capable of mining scrypt-n. Read below:

Our brand new, high-performance L1 will be hashing at 120MH/s with the market-best pricing of only $599.00 USD per unit with free shipping worldwide, hailing in at a market-topping rate $5/MH/s. This ensures our L1 will be absolute the best $/MH/s as well as power efficiency spec in the Scrypt mining market. What’s more, a dramatic discount will be given to bulk orders.
L1 will be produced with our state-of-art chip powered by the 28nm tech process. The efficiency is only 2.37J/MH at Core Voltage 0.81v on chip level. The Core Voltage and Hash Rate will be adjustable by software, over clocking and under clocking will be very easy to operate while miners trade-off the speed and efficiency. Moreover, the miner will be able to mine multifarious scrypt based altcoin, of which scrypt length can be 1024, 2048, 4096 (n = 10, 11 or 12).
The above miners are confirmed to have been released and both able to mine Garlicoin. Scrypt-n is certainly ASIC broken, miners that can mine Garlicoin exist already too and more could be created as well.

There are other SCRYPT-N ASICs that were advertised but I don't have confirmation about their releases (all listed below). A user in this thread talked about the following having been released:

https://web.archive.org/web/20140814181936/https://www.hashcoins.com/product/hashcoins-notus/
https://web.archive.org/web/20150421022449/https://www.hashcoins.com/product/hashcoins-triton/
Anyone knows about the future plan of the dev, so that those who invested in this coin will not lose the trust they have.

Old ASICs for this algo cost less than $100 and do 5-35 MH/s

which ASICs do scrypt-n?

Triton, Notus etc https://forum.bitmmgp.ru/vse-asiki-dlja-majninga-bitkoin.t184/
Taking a second look at this, how could the devs have overlooked this. Didn't Vertcoin switch from that algo for that very reason? Because ASICs for it were hitting the market. They were rendered useless pretty quickly though.

May be dev team have a lot of this ASIC so they choose this algo. In fact this ASICs was created by only one Estonian/Russian company some years ago and now you cant buy this new ASIC. I have bouhgt in Moscow 6 used Tritons fo $80-110 each. Each give 5-12 Mh/s (suppose some chips already broken) in Scrypt-N.

More over, http://blissdevices.com/ and https://www.flowertechnology.com/have been talked about by different companies but most seem to have vanished after vertcoin and its forked switched algos back in the day so I can't vouch for their validity as there aren't enough records.

There's also a company that has a working prototype and upcoming releases https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYuv93BHqu0

Thanks for the screenshot but the developer is clearly trying to calm the crowd by spreading misinformation. KNC miner and L1 are able to mine garlicoin and scrypt-n is certainly ASIC broken. It should be the developer's #1 priority to try and upgrade the coin instead of spreading misinformation and denying facts. Makes me think they aren't just ignorant as their propaganda seems deliberate at this point. Why else wouldn't they admit it if it was a mistake?

Try to ask for Vercoin dev about ASIC for Scrypt-N. Some years ago they forked Vertcoin to another algo because ASICs has x20 less power consumation than graphic cards and asic miners dump this coin for price that graphic cards miners have no reason for mine it.

People inexperienced with mining might not remember what was happening when scrypt-n compatible miners started coming out...

We all need a price pump for LTC and/or other alts to follow or this is all gonna go to the fate of Scrypt-N coins (ask the oldsters about that ..Titan miners were made to
mine scrypt-N asic resistant coins...they did so and blew up the coins in a couple weeks..thus no more scrypt-N ..if you blow difficulty up too fast and the coin has no way
to recover/for use or whatever.....POOF...)

Stop posting the github url

How fast is it??? How much MH/s does it ACTUALLY do on scrypt-n:2048??? So far there is NOONE posting here with proof of how fast the KnCMiner does scrypt-n other then some old advertisement before the product was even released!!

Ok let's take a step back from this...

What's more likely here, that a inexperienced dev team launched a coin for laughs and have made mistakes along the way

or...

The dev knows what he is doing and is trying to scam everyone for what is essentially a worthless meme coin that will never amount to anything.

The team may have made some mistakes, but does that constitute a scam?

The mass production of L1 being canceled doesn't mean that the chip wassn't developed. Bitmain could bring out units of this miner at any time and that'd be likely to destroy Garlicoin as a similar incident with KNC Titan destroyed all remaining scrypt-n coins back in the day.
when the Titan Scrypt miners had a firmware mod to mine Scrypt-N they made good profit for a week but destroyed all scrypt N coins in that week
In fact, there's no reason to wait for Bitmain as a single person gathering enough KNC-Titans could destroy it as we speak.

I love how everyone is being in denial while the evidence is laid out right before their eyes. Lets get some facts straight.

  • Garlicoin's algorithm is not ASIC resistant.
  • The developer lied about ASIC resistance.
  • There have been ASICs released for Scrypt-N (KNC Titan).
  • It's entirely possible that ASICs are on Garlicoin's network as we speak.
  • With rare but powerful ASICs that were release being able to mine the coin while users only have access to GPU, the coin is susceptible to 51% attacks.
As of the Devs
  • They are either ignorant or not knowledgable to understand the above
  • They spread misinformation and decline to address the issue (so far)
Any coin under a constant threat of 51% is worthless as its chain's immutability is compromised so the only solution to move on would be to fork to an algorithm that is not ASIC-broken. I'll keep warning users of this scam as long as the devs keep lying.

The mass production of L1 being canceled doesn't mean that the chip wassn't developed.

Bruh you think they just canceled it because they didn't feel like it? No they canceled the product as it failed horribly ....

Like I said you can't make a scrypt-n asic that is efficient, is fast and has a long lifespan.
Honestly you should be happy if you can get even one of those attributes

Once again I ask you to stay neutral as an OP, its not in your rights to just turn a coin announcement into a SCAM topic. (Do this in the RIGHT subforums!!)
Especially when you only spread FUD based on either totally proven false information or information that has no proof attached with it at all.

So you admit that there is the possibility that the devs have no idea of what they are doing and yet you are out here ringing the alarm bells about it being scam.

Regardless, it's a worthless meme coin and in the end it doesn't matter.

It's in my rights to call out incompetent lying developers. You went from denying that scrypt-n ASICs exist to saying they just arren't efficient. Isn't multiple times the efficiency and hashpower of GPUs already enough for you? Are you willing to compromise a coin's immutability over the developer's mistake or deliberate scam to support this narrative?

I get why me calling this a scam would upset you, you mist have invested in your pool and seem annoyed that this coin's mime-potential didn't pay out. I think you should direct your efforts into convincing the developers to pick a different algorithm in a hard for. No-one is going to buy in Garlicoin as long as its running on the broken scrypt-n, no exchange is going to list it etc... Hell, you too should have looked into this before creating a pool! I'll admit that I should have called this project out earlier but at least this thread got enough attention to serve as a fair warning.

To conclude, there's a reason scrypt-n died as a PoW algo in 2014. Garlicoin should fork if it wants to live.

It's not worthless at the moment, although I think it should be, people are buying it with real money. Hopefully my alarm ringing will deter them from doing so. I'm doing this to protect newbies from people like smiba that seem to want to enable people into buying in garlicoin for their personal gain.

I too feel bad for starting this ann and promoting Garlicoin but my latest warning came after I learned the truth myself.

Many thanks.
In some sources write that it was necessary to register in advance. Or is it not so?

I just created a wallet, filled out a form, and confirmed through reddit.
Then I get a drop?

May be dev team have some Scrypt-N ASICs that cant mine other coins - so no reason to change algo.

Yes surely... So why can't we see those ASICs on the network?
