The lack of financial education in general is a worrying problem. We teach students about literature, maths, science, ... and we tell them that those are the things they need to know in life. Yet usually, the largest single expense they will have on their lives is a house, and that normally comes with a mortgage. Yet, only a few schools will tell them what should they be expecting, the risks and the consequences of such a contract.

Bitcoin and alts is another case in which people are carefully kept in ignorance by the governments and lobbies.

What can we do to make more people interested in economy and finance and to better educate the youth so that they don´t get ripped-off?
First, one thing you should know is that not every is entitled to have the opportunity of going through a financial education. Next is that you shouldn’t expect everyone to have the same interest as you.

We all have our own various interests, and you can’t force another man to have same interest as you– that’s freewill. And as for whether everyone knows about Bitcoin? Yes, people knows about it, but it’s not just what they want.

All we can do is to first teach and promotes financial mannagement in every school as well as in home and to the society . Because lack of knowledge in financial education is the one of the biggest problem of every people whose didnt know hoele they do and get financial support so that we may intruduce to them the goodness of bitcoin so they might have financial support and they can also have an knowledge to not worry about anything. So that they would not worry on how to get money. Through the help of bitcoin they will improve and be knowlegable on haow to become a financial mannager and educated.

The lack of education leads to ignorance of anything even in technology. We cannot make anything for the people to become interest in cryptocurrency if they do not know how it works.
In my country, a lot of people are not aware in bitcoin. Unfortunately, we are just adapting in today's trend. I am also a proof that technology is far from my province yet I am now in part of bitcointalk. People behind me are not interested on what I have shared to them but I always trying to say it to them.
I believe that the solution for the ignorance is education. We should first try to educate the youth in order for them to learn to adapt in our economic trend and issues.

education is important for everything. more people start trusting on the Internet and social media more than governments and lobbies.
bitcoin and other cryptocurrency are new kind of payment systems and need more time to be used globally.
it’s better to have computer background before using cryptocurrency.
the main reason why people use bitcoin is investing "the fact you can earn more when holding bitcoin" not technology.

Government is not completely responsible if the community are lacking in financial education. We can start to educate ourselves by reading books about financial literature or searching through the internet. All we need is an initiative because we can learn about these things if we are not dependent in the educational program of the government. Even at home we can share our essential knowledge and skills to our kids to guide them and become aware regarding this matter.

If a certain nation will adopt, legalize and fully support Bitcoin and other digital currencies they will going to initiate to create educational programs to help their uneducated citizens to embrace literacy towards digital beginning or to the computer worlds. Unfortunately sometimes the politics are too blind to see the advantages of Bitcoin but they only see the disadvantages that it might use it in illegal means without consideration declaring Bitcoin as an threat to the nation. If Bitcoin is illegal in your country therefore there is no way to make people to become literate to crypto currencies but if is legal then you could facilitate programs that fully supported by the government itself.

Lack of financial education is a big problem because you can not deal or manage a good relationship to a business you want to build or invest

As for the financial attitude of a person are sometimes depends on how they were raised by their parents, some parents are making their children like the prodigal. Spoiled brats are mostly getting old without any financial plan for their selves and just making the decision for a day. Money comes, money goes.
They were not taught to plan their future as they were raised buying their wants everytime they like something they get it.
Parents are the foundation of what the children will be, school is just guiding the children, and making the foundation stronger.
At some point parents have a big obligation for their child, they should teach children the right way not just giving what they can afford to give to their children. Some parents may think that we have the money and I wanted to everything to my children but we should not act like that, we have to be at least not tolerating them, life is tough so while young teach them.

Very concerned about that, because financial and economic education is what we have to many of us, because the more advanced the world economy, so what if we live in the present without the knowledge of financial and economic knowledge. and from now on study the economy, and we can begin to tell our children how important their knowledge is to the current financial.

It's not a conspiracy by the government. It's the stupidity and lack of knowledge by the average citizen and their laziness

If you plan on getting a 30 years running mortgage and you don't do a tiny bit of research on what you are getting yourself into then, it's not the government fault, it's not the bank fault, it's just you.

Storm you must be left out of the loop; I thought you heard that open-source, consensus development and decentralization is the new "Secret Society". All this information hiding in plain sight makes it impossible to know anything! They're overwhelming us with knowledge, this is how it is "Carefully" kept secret. If you can't tell this is sarcasm and I fail to understand how an Open-Source project driven by community consensus can be as OP describes. You are grasping at straws to say the things you are saying.

If you plan on doing anything without running the proper research then there is nobody to blame except for your own lack of diligence. Whether this is a mortgage, an ICO investment or literally anything else you can imagine. Blindly throwing your livelihood around hoping it lands on the target is not the path to success; it is the path towards the manipulation you sound so afraid of.

I just wanted to sort of +1 what storm is saying, because you sounds a little unhinged/

You're cutting me off? No, no, no Jerry bill gator, don't cut me off!  Grin
I'm just really tired of everybody blaming whatever and whoever they can for everything that is wrong in their life.
I'm seeing with my own eyes how even my colleagues at work are starting to act like that.

One thing I forgot to say..
If the government (let's say us) would indeed impose a financial education course in middle school, I'm willing to bet that there would be thousands protesting, saying that this is a farce, is a mind washing program by the big banks, the corporations, and so on.

Great topic. For me, this problem is included in the top 3 problems of society. In my country, the system does not change. Therefore, I myself will be engaged in raising the financial literacy of my child. I believe that this discipline should be the most important.

It is our duty and responsibility as an individual to explore ourselves don't rely everything and in school as it would not give you all the things that we need to learn, they are just a stepping guide for us to be able to do what are the things that we need first and after that it depends on us how we move forward for ourselves.

Governments are very different in different parts of the world. Some authoritarian governments are fully responsible but others that have democracies (in different levels of participation) cannot be blamed as it is the citizens themselves that don´t ask for it.

Without education, democracy is not possible. Without financial education, governments are not held responsible.

Its still depends on a person's perspective in life. People learn from.their experiece. Maybe financial education is also important because we are using all financial aspect in our life but as people also have their talent in doing financial analytics through their wit. They are smart enough on how they will use their money because afterall they have to do it in the right way all else they will left nothing. Its people decision whether they will want to be gain more knowledge through study or through the usual way.

Yes I am certainly agree with that but as you can see Bitcoin is kinda deeper to be base just in experiences of one's life , we have different way of living and whenever to compare it you will end up to find differences , so  how can you share knowledge if the information is not reliable? Financial education is still important for us to know everything about this field.

It depends on the country you live in, and also on your personal interest (in France you can choose "options" at school and economy is one of them). But even if you don't learn the basis of economy at school, you can still educate yourself later. Today we have access to tons of information, we just have to do a little bit of research.
And I'm not sure that you need to learn how it works to buy a house with a mortgage, you just have to pay a bit attention to what you engage yourself in, that's juste basic common sense for me.

This lack of education need some enhancement wherein student/people can easily cope up with the technology that we have. Some become uneducated because lack of awareness that we are facing the new technology. In order to sustain or to adopts this system and can help the economy is the proper guidance and ofcourse to help ourselves that may boost our confidence.
