Nobody knows how many people use bitcoin to invest but for my own opinion I will rate this as 60% of people using bitcoin to invest and they will gonna hold for a long term. But some of them they used bitcoin as their payments.

The value of any object is the price at which the product is valued,it is a simple process,bitcoin started out as a mode of payment without zero fees but the current situation is a bit different from what it started but the good thing is that,if you can send a million transaction at once with the same transaction fees,so in hindsight only micro transaction suffers. People usually don't use bitcoin to spend on things for some odd reason they want to exchange it for fiat and always look at it in terms of the fiat value so it is more like digital stocks than a currency. I use bitcoin to spend so it is an invest I can spend directly out of. Paying online is so much easier with bitcoin. I use to have problems paying online and bitcoin solved that for me.

I think many of the motives they use on bitcoin, including investments, but their actions in investing in my opinion is an option, where one can experience new and be aware of bitcoin not a virtual thing, but the reality is present and pervasive in real life. of that awareness that the presentation of bitcoin users increases, meaning that few people are already in position and positioning bitcoin in their lives compared to people who are not yet aware of the actual effects of bitcoin in life.

Bitcoin can be used as a normal currency, provided that you live in a place that actually has enough services or goods places accepting Bitcoin as a payment system. Which significantly limits the number of places you'd be able to live off of Bitcoin alone, basically to Switzerland (if they're still as dedicated as they were about a year ago to Bitcoin) and a few other cities within the United States which would require a lot of looking even then. A lot of people are going to talk about and use Bitcoin like an investment even if you try to convince them otherwise, there's no point trying too hard to switch their views. Either they will switch their viewpoints themselves or they will never switch at all.

To be honest, almost 90%of people today use it as an asset and not for any other thing. They just don't know the features of bitcoin which has revolutionized the economy of the whole world. It could be once again used for payments and transactions worldwide when everyone starts using Segwit address and when lightning network gets activated, users ratio would go even more.
