The difference between the two is in mining you working for the money while in investing money are working for you. If I have money I will focus more on investing. Investing still the most profitable among the two options most especially if you are good at finding good altcoins. Mining should be done if you are only looking for another source of income for investing.

Yes both are profitable but it depends on the capacity of one person, if you can afford to buy more powerful hardware for you mining much better but if not much better to invest your money in trading and participating in ICO.

Mining is a passive type of earning Bitcoin and you'll just have to setup your machine and devices to operate 24 hours 7 days a week and it will continue to get satoshis into ur wallet.
But, I believe if you're a skilled trader then you could earn higher money than mining. But trading requires more time to monitor the market value in order to hit buy and sell if the price are getting low or high.
For me if you have other business and other important life activities then you'll better go for Bitcoin Mining, otherwise, Investing and trading will offer you higher earnings and return of investments.

For me i prefer to investing bitcoin than mining 'cause it is very expensive you need a capital on it before you can start and must have a good bitcoin mining  hardware to make sure that you don't end up spending all of your money on electricity . So i was you i will invest in bitcoin if you don't want to waste you money. But indeed having a bitcoin mining is good way also to gain more profits but you must have a good team to work with it.

No i dont say this as the best earning source in crypto currency.
Mining is the best one regarding its stable income and the most safety one between other like trading, gambling, staking and lending.
However, its your choice then do it but mine is trading. I like more challenge and of course more benfit.

Mining would be more profitable than just holding your bitcoin alone,because anytime ethereum might replace bitcoin's position,bitcoin has very unstable market price right now a lot of manipulations would trigger most of the investors to switch to more stable coin like ethereum,while mining is a very good option because you can still earn consistently while you are asleep but it requires a lot of investment at first.
