note to self - keep to btc back for party.. Wont it be a bit of a sausage fest thou.. We need a plan to solve this.. This x 1000 I'm a married man but a party isn't a party if it's full of men. (Unless you're into that ) Well, the idea was free entry for women. That could help, but may not be enough. Well, a lot of people are going to be filthy rich when it hits 1000. So a lot of rich guys showing up in expensive sport cars. Free drinks and entry for woman. Yeah that should attract enough woman.

(Unless you're into that ) gender distribution is an issue. what can be done about it other than free admission for women ? maybe we will have to work with media here. imho a party full of guys which wealth has 10 folded over the last few months may be a interesting honey pot. on top of it we would need some superstar band/singer/dj (or several) attending - if the local radio talks about let´s say robbie williams/david guetta on stage tonight at some party and it´s free admission&drinks for the ladies, we will be flooded with girls. frankfurt has a voluminous party culture and berlin even more, so location isn´t the problem. it is just up to creativity and budget = can be solved. Works for me. Now, are we talking about a snooty, dress nice and stand around talking while sipping wine party like "typical high class" events, or, you know, a party? Music, (the more electronic the better!) booze, etc. Being Germany, i picture the latter... I had some great fun in russia a few years back and would relish a repeat. LSD punch? ... Not that I'm aware of?

You know, instead of free entry for women, or attracting women with wealthy guys and sports cars, why don't we just spend the next few months (years?) focusing on getting more women actually interested in bitcoin? That would be quite a bit less sexist. Plus if you meet single bitcoiner women there, you'll already have something in common.

you are very right about this. imho it is almost impossible not to fall into sexism pitfalls when dealing with a +95% male forum.

+1 If I were female, this thread would discourage me from attending. Honestly, I don't think it will be an issue. The San Jose conference, while still mostly male, had a significant number of women in attendance and I'm sure the trend will continue toward a more equitable ratio.

We Need coloured coins! Lastest when pink coins exist we will gain loads of female members in Btc Community! What could we do? It's hard to get them involved in politics too.... But much harder in BTC....

I see a lot of women involved in craft, jewelry, and antique fairs. That may be a good place to start. Get them to accept btc for tyairnwares online, or teach then to set it up on their phones, and they don't,t have to worry as much about change or credit cards. Maybe try to get Etsy to add it as an option (though that may cut into their profits). Maybe convince some moms to put aside some money into Bitcoin for their kid's college funds. Shouldn't be too hard if you show them returns over the last 3 years and only have them put in a little bit. They may get more interested as they see their small investment grow. Basically, just talk to women you know, whether friends or relatives or whatever.

The San Jose conference, while still mostly male, had a significant number of women in attendance and I'm sure the trend will continue toward a more equitable ratio. All very idealistic but not as simple as you make out i fear. I talk to people all day long about BTC and try to get men and women excited about it equally. The fact is that bitcoin, bitcointalk forums and most techy stuff is a predominantly male environment. I'm sure with mass adoption this will start to balance out but there will always be more men involved. At something like the conference where everyone is focused on bringing together ideas and meeting people to get involved with on a business level then the ratios won't matter that much. At a party where everyone is up for celebrating their belief in bitcoin succeeding and drinking lots of alcohol i think that a 9-1 ratio of men to women would be a massive sausage fest buzzkill. I like rassahs ideas of getting more women involved with bitcoin and like i say i am sure it will balance out over time but if there needs to be incentives for women to turn up then i think they should be in place. Homework for today is to get one female friend hooked on bitcoin

At the risk of sounding sexist, men are interested in business finance and investing, women are interested in home finance and building a nest egg for their kids and their own retirement (those women who only spend money their husbands earn, we are not interested in anyway). So... Uh... Use that.
