Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit

I don't really care about merit and why would someone actually pay real money for some type of digital forum point.  It is like buying a high score on the video game which kinda defeats the whole purpose of what you were supposed to earn.

some of the new members need merit to make thier rank eligible in joining signature campaigns, some members that are stuck in thier rank need merit to get higher stakes in signature bounty.

Actually there is an easy way to get merit, you make a quality post and ask the moderator to review your post. buying and selling of merit is not allowed.

For good quality posters getting merit isnt really that hard but there are times that post cant be seen which should be meritable.Reporting it is a good way yet we do have threads that do need to report some good post that should be merited.People cant able to step up into a rank if they wont work hard to improve their post quality.Merit sources are very keen on giving out smerits to those who are really
worthy to be given.In any system abuse its always been a violation or not allowed.

LOL, how can you get some merits if all our post is pure bounty report? There are a lot of tips in the Beginners & Help (I'm sure you don't know such thread exists) on how to get merit. If you really wanted to get at least 1 merit. Post something different, add content on it so that you can contributed to the discussions and who knows maybe someone will give you one.

You can call him strange member and so are the thousands new members coming in, because they came here for bounties. Merit is not moderated so you are free to give it to anymore. However, how can you give merit to this guy? And I doubt that he can involved in technical discussions, because obviously he or she is here just for bounty campaigns and doesn't want to contribute anything in any discussions.

Scientific discussions... now we know where are the merit sources. 

The right way to get merits is by the quality of your posts, if you don't share your knowledge with the system you will not get merits at all. Bring some good quality posts, a good lecture to the users and voila, there you will get them.

Merit is a good thing for bitcointalk quality posters. Just sad to learn that there is sMerit buying in this good reward harvesting which means that posters are not any more important to if the real value of his post is meritable or not because he can buy it anyway. Good thing is that if you caught this way, you are going to get suspended and probably banned from this forum.

There is no secret here, prior to the introduction of merit system, there are a lot of quality posters already and they did nothing, same posting habits and same debates/discussions.

The problem with newbie is that they really need to bounty hunt, then get out of the community without going around and learn some new things. That's why they can't engage in a proper discussion today because in the first place, they don't have the knowledge even if they have been in the community for the past 2 or more years. And that is why they don't get any merits at all.

For me merit is not having risk but it about hard work to win I you are making high quality post ask it made you win and if you are not working with high potentials then you will have to adopt this kind of negative acts but it’s really illegal to use your money and increasing your rank or your merit in market better work hard.

This is really unfair people take advantage from other people which is the bad act of some dump people. They should work than to get fast high rank merit with a wrong way. Merit should not be sell by people so just work on your abilities and if people see any of such act then should be report to the site organization they will take better step in this regard, forum is all clean but some people spoil the environment.

Life had never been fair this is why we do make new rules,laws or changes but there are really people who do really abuse up the system just to benefit or do make
advantage among others who do follow the hard work to obtain those points.

We are trying to get rid of this abuse but this had been completely shut down but if the community is sensible into this matter then it would be

Never try to buy merit, the risk is permanently banned. the moderator has strict rules about merit to keep this forum alive and free of spam posts.
but I often find people who offer merit. I am not interested even though it is very difficult to get merit.

There have already been some bans considering the merit trading, but just ask yourself is it actually worth it? If someone was to buy ~50 merit points, he might get 1-2 lower ranks but he'd still need to buy that same merit 3-4 times to get to some higher rank. For example you'd need to buy 5 times 50 merit, to get to Senior member, 5 times from different users or 1 time from one person (or multiple) every month and if that doesn't get suspicious, I don't know what will.

Indeed. Actually, you don't need to trade a Merit not just because it's illegal but also just try to give some effort on your post or topic and make sure that it has a sense. Don't just post anything you want, if you are going post tips or news make sure that it has references as for the credibility of your data. Trading of Merit is not allowed in the forum if you got caught then I am pretty sure that the account of yours will gain a red trust. So basically, a quality post is the only way to earn Merit.

Main motive why merit system is being created is due to avoid abuse of this forum like account farming where it was rampant wayback before
since accounts can easily rank up with just having that activity measure and its been abused by many in terms of selling it thats why theymos decided to
overhaul the ranking system which you would need sufficient merit for you to rank up if not then you would stay with your rank forever.

One benefits of having lots of merits is the one thing you say where most signature campaigns would recognized you out since having lots merits
does mean your a quality poster which a company would definitely need.Abuse? Non surprising as long people can make money to it there would always be a way.

Very interesting to see the reactions to the newly introduced concept of merit as an additional indicator of account maturity and quality beyond just pure number of posts / activity. While this was introduced to increase post quality it has of course created a counter movement and a market place for "trading" merit - for money.
So this is just a reminder for everyone that the introduction of merit is a GOOD thing because it will help improve the quality of this forum for everybody.

"Trading" merit will undermine this and render it eventually useless.

^ Forget the merit system and be a helpful member of the forum. I'm not saying this because I already had this rank but that what I did. As theymos said, the abuser of merit will become no more merit to abuse(correct me if I'm wrong). And for me, hoarding merit will not help you, if I have some I will help those lower ranks and give chance those lower ranks to rank up. How many merit did you buy and rank up? I think not worth it if you are shitposter.
