Some key points to be analyzed are to question how the funds will be used, to understand the risks, to approach an ICO in the same way that a more traditional asset would be addressed. Pay attention to the technical article in it should contain details that investors should know before buying as commercial applications and technological specifications

Approach is similar like research and its important to do before. Pay attention in technical is of course.
Everybody that this crypto world is very high risk so thats why we need to do approaching and reduce the risk.

Are there any recommended websites that do reviews of upcoming ICOs? I just don't have the time to dig in deep and read all the whitepapers and available info, so it would be great if there would be a source of information that does the "dirty" work beforehand.

In the first page already mention some of website that normally allow us to check their rating.
I know its not 100% pure but at least the website will help you to find a good one.
However, if you are lazy then you will close to lose money.

Checking the team is one of most important thing before making decision. I want to know why  should be russians? I still dont understand why?
May i know how you can check the number of visitor in the website?

Make sure that after investing on an ICO first you should make a personal investigation, gather some idea and ask the developer if what is the purpose of their project. You need to see if the ICO project has a roadamap and whitepaper to assure that the purpose of their project and on how they conducted it. Goodluck

What should I do to participate in the ICO?

Very responsible approach to the selection of the project.
To study all possible information on the project.
To communicate with other potential investors at the forums, where information on the project is published.
If knowledge is allowed, then study the project code and its business model.
Assess the risks of investing.

I'm not sure if you consider having a Russian dev a good thing or not, but in case you consider that a negative, some of the best projects in the market (like ETH and waves) are Russian.  Cheesy

Yes maybe that the reason why he want russian people lead the project.
Because they already prove that russian has more ability to build the project.
But remember, although russian is good dev but not all of them are good and honest. So looking their track earlier is a must.

I would stay away with ICO that has no products.  So many of them failed in 2017.  Look at Patientory.

Thank you for you checklist, it's very complete and it can be very useful.
I would add a warning: in an ICO, 90% is the marketing part, and now promoter know exactly what things people will check, so they put all our attention that anything "looks good", instead to make things "really good".
So, don't stop at the surface but - if you're ready to invest in it - go deeper.

Hello everybody,

I know mostly people here know what they need to do before investing in any ico but there are still many people ask the same question in different thread specially newbie. They get the answer but in several post which maybe make them a little confusing.

I am not an expert but i could put what i know here. All i know is from reading here in the forum.

Well just start, everything you need to research and make sure before investing in ico project wheater the ico has :

* working product
* Unique or good idea/solution for existing problem or future problem.
* Strong team behind the project
* Strong planning and marketing ability
* Partnerships with reputed company
* good whitepaper and roadmap too
* experience advisor

Edited :
* make sure the idea is different with the exist ico or the old project
* check the supply of the token because it cause the price run

From all mention above, i have 1 thing that is most important in my opinion. That is  ico should have working product because working product can lead the ico would be success ( not 100% success but mostly success ).
Maybe this thread will help you to find working product ico : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2451482.0

After you do research about above things, you can check the rating and other detail in below website :

* Icobench.com
* Icorating.com
* Icobazaar.com
* Icoscanner.io

Other source to check popularity of the project is youtube and also this forum.

I know its not complete but i hope it can help member who need it.

Note : your suggestion is appreciate to add the detail above.

Thank you

Edit :

* this is the other suggestion, i know some of them is already mention above but i think this is good to add it here. Thanks

These 5 Things You Must Know Before Investing in an ICO
1 - Is it a Copy Cat, an Incremental Improvement, or Disruptive Tech?
2 - How detailed is the plan? What is the road map?
3 - How developed is the technology?
4 - Who comprises the Team and Advisory board?
5 - Do they really need to raise Why?

What should I do to participate in the ICO?

Very responsible approach to the selection of the project.
To study all possible information on the project.
To communicate with other potential investors at the forums, where information on the project is published.
If knowledge is allowed, then study the project code and its business model.
Assess the risks of investing.

I think this is a pretty complete list of what one should be looking for when investing in a project in its ICO stage.
This thread should always be at the top for everyone to see.

With part of all the ICO craziness being scam, the majority just having concepts but no working product, a lot of good ideas but questionable business viability, I'm pretty lost with what to look at. Anybody can come up with an idea and a whitepaper, even contact to devs and looking at their history is something that doesn't reveal if this will be something for real or just quick cash for the team behind it. I'm following a handful of projects right now, but I'm very skeptical.

Thats enough to do before investing in crowdsale.
All research is not 100% guarantee will make us profit at the end but its better than blind invest to them.
Before investing we need to explore and analyze the market in our investments, when I spend in a currency such as Bitcoin, I always probe into its previous months and fluctuations before At present, I think that there is no place where there is much risk because the lucky investors or the wrong time to invest so new difficulties.

We have to check their background and the team behind the ICOs, we also look their developer and the platform of the project. I also look at the road map and the whitepaper of the project and blockchain.

These trackers are very good for finding ISO on different characteristics - dates started, end dates and so on. But you should not trust their evaluation - very many projects pay the rating. It is necessary to do your own research of the project.

Indeed!I totally agree. Before investing we have to check, investigate and consider important factors, like it's legitimacy. Though the fact that investments involve some degree of risk, we can have our money work for us to earn more money, than having to earn that extra money ourselves. It needs smart and wise decision.
