What is the purpose of a pyramid? Gambling, money-laundering?

ROI is not a verb, the term you're looking for is 'to break even'.

The purpose of the pyramid is the same as any pyramid scheme.  It's touted as an "investment" but in reality it is gambling.  You are betting that you are not the last person to invest in the pyramid.  If you deposit money to your deposit address, that money gets passed up the pyramid to others that have also deposited.  The more people below you in the pyramid and the more you deposit, the more your possible return.  No deposit, no return!

So if you just join and think that's all that you have to do to get something then you're not understanding the rules.  Learn to work your referral link so that you actually have a pyramid below you and deposit some btc.  I have 423 people that have joined below me, and more joining below them.  You have to "work" the pyramid.  It's not a free ride.

Yes... problem solved..  Smiley  Now we just need to encourage some activity again... used to be so much fun back in the day... I will drop some coin in again soon. I bet a feathercoin pyramid would go nuts... seeing as how there are like over 1000 feather coins to a btc... if you even consider such a thing give us regukars a shot at early entry with announcement here...

There used to be BTC bucket, to automatically send BTC on a schedule.  I was thinking of having a small amount of BTC go into my pyramid account so it looks more active.

Long ago I made http://btcrelay.com (see his thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=60603.0) that allows doing something like that. But nobody uses it, I don't know why.

someone mentioned they can't get new people to sign up the way it is set up.

could a second site be set up, that would focus on the advertising aspect?
the pyramid portion would be to maybe "buy shares" in advertising.
