my experience;

type connect=144.76.91.109:20000 in the offering.conf file

that got me from 90 weeks to 4

then it I/O Error'd me & couldnt get the wallet to open a dozen times.

removed connect=144.76.91.109:20000 from offering.conf

restarted the wallet and it finished syncing.

good luck & let us know if it works out

Even if wallet says - "DB I/O Error" - wait for a coupl of minutes and run it again. Last week I`ve done it this way.
The wallet may crush again anf again, but you have to wait for a couple of minutes and try again.
IMHO, it happens then your system do not have enough RAM. So may be closing all the other programs (mozilla, google chrome, skype, icq and so on) will help you.

ive tried opening this wallet a dozen or more times.

i tried emptying the .conf file - no joy

tried 3 recommended nodes - no joy

i even restarted my machine with nothing else running and still 'is not responding' half a dozen more times...

stating the cause is RAM is misleading i think as I have 4 gigs of RAM & many other wallets use similar/more RAM and more proccesor power than offerings (LTC/BLK/IXC) and yet they open first time (albeit slowly)?

This issue has nothing to do with your system itself or memory.  It's something in the source code itself causing this although I am not the one to look to as pinpointing it or fixing it.

Anyhow, I'm almost synced after 3 days of restarting the wallet over and over and over, but alas it is almost done.

I did however see a couple other errors during this process of reopening the wallet after it crashes.

I got an error last night that read something to the effect of 'Cannot bind system to 0.0.0.0:20000, bitcoin is probably already running'

Now that error tells me that there is an issue in the code, if nothing else, it shouldn't read 'bitcoin' upon having an error since we aren't dealing with bitcoin here.

Anyhow, fun stuff!

I gave up on the last wallet since it was still empty and i couldn't seem to get past 4 weeks left when syncing without some corruption and having to start over again.

So, I deleted the wallet.dat and started fresh with a new one and am synced and had 0 issues with a fresh wallet file.

Weird lol.

Started getting that I/O error again and wallet crashes even when fully synced.  It was stable for several hours and then crashed again this afternoon.

Then upon trying to open the wallet again I see 'Cannot bind system to 0.0.0.0:20000 bitcoin is probably already running'

as well as

'Failed to listen on any port, use -listen=0 if you want this'

An update is in the works, but it may be another fortnight before its ready.

If it would help, here's the compressed, up to date version of the blockchain direct from the seednode: http://23skidoo.info/Offering-blockchain.tar.bz2

Updated clients should be ready next week sometime, possibly this weekend. New web URL also in the works: http://offeringstocthulhu.info will soon redirect to an OFF specific page--it is on the same server as 23skidoo.info for those of you questioning.

No way for me to update the OP, Blazr2's account is inaccessible; no need for a new thread. Will update here and the site will become the only place to get official releases.

A "pre-Hastur" release of the client is up on Github but I can't get it to compile on my machine so perhaps it isn't finished yet? Smiley Best to not junk Yidhra just yet.

There seem to be a sudden interest in OFF over at Cryptopia at the moment. As of writing the latest price is 0.00001800 BTC. Perhaps time to take a dump on the exchange if you're holding (or keep them for better prices and/or the coming of Great Cthulhu) Wink

looks more like someone selling to themselves

the uno/off  uno/flax prices are even more insane.

 0.04691636 BTC =11.46 USD (3016 Flax)

5 UNO =12.50 USD (1000 flax)

205 UNO =512.50 USD (1857 flax)
