I personally think it will most likely be a couple of coins that will be highly used; but that's just my guess. Probably something like, bitcoin for bigger transactions, and litecoin for smaller ones; and ofcourse there's monero for private transactions(not necessarily illegal transactions).

Right now there is a "coin inflation", if you will, because a lot of people are trying to corner the crypto market by being the first movers. But once the dust settles, the number of coins will go down for sure.

In order t be succesfull, these coins will have to be interchangeable between blockchains, this can be done by implementing sidechains that connect with each other to allow for interoperability.

I don't think that will be happening any time. There might be fewer crypto currencies that managed to survive the market and with unique features. But they all will prevail the market and be used side by side just like gold and silver. The chances of only coin dominating the whole market is low since that one coin will not be able to give all the features available on other coins.

price. In all other terms other alt-coins are separate chains and many of them

I agree with your opinion. I think this division would be appropriate. Now the cost of bitcoin's transaction in the network is getting cheaper. Therefore, I do not think that there will be six such currencies. One, two or three is the maximum.

It seems to be happening in waves: in 2014/15 there was a boom for new coins and literally hundreds of them were created, but they just went to be obsolete with few exceptions (doge, for that matter) when the wave has passed. When I was new in cryptocurrency, I wondered why there are many digital currencies circulating in the market? At first, I was confused by the purpose of different cryptocurrency since I've thought they are all the same but different in names and logos.
When I was started to join in the campaign, I've found out that there are different specs and usage of each coin. Some of them are secured coin, for large investment or small investment. They are the result of successful ICO.
Now, I am thinking that it might not good for the market to have just a few numbers of cryptocurrency. There will become a centralization with the remained crypto and may cause to a great crash since the people do not want to invest in a centralized manner.

This are all just assumptions, theories and unproven claims that they can perform well compared to bitcoin. They need to reach the scale in which bitcoin is operating in first, which is several thousands of transactions per day, before it can be recognized as the altcoin which surpassed bitcoin.

Recently I read a statement by Vitalik Buterin stating that he also see a future where only about five or six cryptos would dominate the majority of the market, which is not very far from the current reality, where the first five cryptocurrencies dominate 75% of the market. Perhaps the only difference would be that in the not too distant future there would not be such an overwhelming amount of cryptocurrencies and tokens in circulation as there would be a more restrictive regulation in this regard.

one ring to rule them all... I don't believe that any currency can replace all other ones. The same trend will continue, as now - some coins will be more popular, some less, most will disappear eventually, the appearance of new ones will probably slow down over time. Look at the paper money - do you think that tomorrow everything, except, say, dollar, will be merged together? Maybe one day, but not soon.

No, bitcoin only is enough to be a base currency for many crypto coins. Bitcoin is exist in every cryptocurrency exchange.
So, any coin that you want to buy, you can buy it with bitcoin. No need to create another currency to rule them all.

In my opinion, I don't think that only one crypto currency will rule over the other currencies but rather lead the other alternative coins in the crypto market. Considering that there are many alternative coins and many ICO's coming in the market, I don't think that almost all of this coins will survive in a decade but perhaps some coins may become pump and dumps since many people would be hesitant to further check what is best alts for their plan investment since it has been a thousand ICO's and existing coins that are already in the market. Well, in my opinion, Bitcoin is the currency that rule on all other type of currencies but only in its respective fields. Currencies are natural monopolies because the usefulness of a currency increases with the number of people who are using it. A currency used by one person is useless, and a currency used by only a few thousand people is still pretty much useless. I believe there will be one currency to rule them all one day. Particularly something that is centered on being universal, with easy access for all. It would have to be simple enough that even a grandmother could use it. It would have to  have a uniquely simple interface, so people from all corners of the world could utilize it with ease, without any hangups because of a language barrier, or disabilities whereas a person may be limited in their usage of such a medium.
   To pull it off, it would have to be some what centralized, to a point where it is applicable enough for regulators and policymakers can work with it. The big question really is, will it be a cryptocurrency and if so, will it be scalable?

As we all know that crypto market is full of crypto currencies and we all are aware with many crypto currencies around like bitcoin, bitcoin Cash, etherum, litcoin or many more as I don’t know that names even of all so there are many crypto currencies available in the market and I don’t think that there could be one single currency that could rule them all but yes they are competitors of each other and obviously one will be the leader so no doubt the bitcoin is the topper and the largest crypto currency among all available in the market.

I will never know until that day really happened. and it seems that reality is more in favor of bitcoin which tend not to be regulated by anyone including the superpower. I would agree if bitcoin becomes the benchmark for converting currency. Why ? to expand the crypto currency market in need of 1 currency to be able to convert all coins so that the system will continue, and if using other coins what can survive like bitcoin?

It's not that one currency can rule all. It's like a government or a system. As I'm saying it is like a government in which the president is only the ruler. It needs officials such as vice president and secretaries to work. Just like bitcoin, it cannot run by bitcoin itself. It needs altcoins.

I agree and maybe bitcoin is the supreme to rule over all altcoins but still bitcoin need altcoins to make the cryptocurrency market run smoothly and become progressive.

There are no coins that can be ruled out of fiat, in my opinion fiat is still the world currency and they will not be replaced by any other coin. The liquidity of fiat money is too high

Maybe this has been brought up a million times, but looking at the current goals of a lot of financial apps. Do you think eventually it will just be something like BCC, LTC, NANO that is most highly adopted and just runs the others away?
Or, will it come to atomic swaps, where we have steadier market prices, and you can just pay with 6 different currencies to be converted over for payment?

I think time will come that bitcoin rule as a main currency because of the strong demand of the people all over the world. They wants to use bitcoin because they feel comfortable and secure.

I am of the view that the multi currency system will continue to exist but just a few currencies will spearhead the system. That is a factor beyond control as just a few currencies will continue to impress the public thus increase their usage and coverage area. I will be bold in saying that bitcoin will be the leader of those currencies to be on top.
