The background noise is to be ignored. Back to the actual thread:

If[1] this is truly the case, both the senders and OP need to be tagged IMO.
Anyone want to chime in before this be done?

this forum is full of people who send merit to their friend  to friend in this way. Are you going to call yourself a "merit hunter" anymore? then start with your own partisan first. not from my friends or turkish users. I do not understand, you have a Turkish hostility. or are you racist ?

Here we go again. How about you make up something unique for a change. I've heard this the last time some people in that section got busted. Just go away and stop abusing the forum. Statement from several days ago:

I am not even remotely, in any way whatsoever, a racist of any kind. I have repeatedly stated that I do not care about other's nationality/race/religion or whatever useless thing they like to associate themselves with.

In terms of both magnitude and quality, this is the single worst case of merit abuse anywhere on the forum.  Not only does he add no substance to the forum whatsoever:  #1076869 “pitipawn” has somehow become the current #4 on the list of “Top-merited users, all-timeby performing the “pump” part of ICOs (and you-know-what follows...).

Thank you, Betfair, for reporting this—and most of all (+5), for translating the Turkish for a sufficient proof.  I’ve had my eye on pitiprawn for awhile.  It was obvious that he was doing something questionable, at best; just the post titles alone show(ed) that he was openly soliciting merit in some fashion, even without being able to read Turkish.  But it would have been difficult to get the evidence, or even understand what his ploy was, whereas Turkish is not one of the languages in which I have sufficient facility to at least do what I call “human-guided machine translation”.

It is fitting that this was reported by someone who can read Turkish.

There are users like nullius and then there is this guy.

Thanks.

(Directed at Lauda:)
I am sure your fans will be enjoying this way. dont stop and keep going like this way.

Of course, we will; and of course, Lauda will.

Story time:

[...]
a lot of people are getting their money from these signature campaigns and getting better food for their children[1],
[...]

[...]

[1] All of these should be banned from the forum.

Damn straight—and no, I don’t care if they starve.

What’s more, people susceptible to this non-argument conveniently forget that this money is drawn from the zero-sum game of pump-and-dump scamming.  All that ICO spam payola money comes from somewhere:  Bilked investors, many of whom are too naïve to really be blamed for taking the bait.  Maybe your grandmother.  Maybe some uneducated, honest working-class individual who is just trying get a little bump up on his hard-earned wages; he sees a glitzy spam ad filled with techno-babble he cannot possibly hope to understand—then winds up having food stolen out of the mouth of his children, when “pump” is inevitably followed by “dump”.

Why do the bleeding hearts never remember this?  Ah, yes:  Because they are not motivated by helping people, but only by a perverse desire to fawn with dripping empathy over trash.

Spam is spam, abuse is abuse, and that’s already more than sufficient reason to kick-ban pitiprawn and many of his spamming followers.  But it is wise to keep in the back of one’s mind the zero-sum nature of all spams and scams.  Every spammer’s and scammer’s gain is somebody else’s loss.

https://ibb.co/eXwo87
Merited by soniclord (50)

did you notice it,  ? how meaningless it is. Please dont act like this  way makes no sense.
Nice insinuation. You mean this guy?

Of course.  saulzaents refers to the lunatic who gave you +50 for red-tagging him, and gave me +50 for insulting him.  Either an insane masochist, or someone with a very guilty conscience—or a persecuted genius, whose actions are predicated on cosmic designs beyond the comprehension of mere mortals! /s

If[1] this is truly the case, both the senders and OP need to be tagged IMO.
Anyone want to chime in before this be done?

I’ll chime in afterwards:  Without yeoman’s service done by you and a few others, the merit system would be totally corrupted overnight.  Since theymos said that signature campaigns will be banned if the merit system fails, that means we would lose many good posters who essentially get paid to spend all day helping people and answering technical questions on an Internet forum.  Many other good posters don’t have a paid signature—but those would also leave, because the spam problem would not be solved.  (Signature spamming is not the only type of spamming!)

If the merit system fails, the forum will implode.

So—thank you.

Merit buyers / beggers
« Sent to: gmaxwell, mprep, Cyrus, Mitchell, hilariousandco, achow101 on: February 11, 2018, 12:20:15 PM »

Dear mods,

I understand your enthusiasm about implementing a merit system, however it has created "merit beggers" and "merit buyers"

One of them is a user called "pitipawn":

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1076869

You will see a spike of increase on his merit in recent days.

If you check his merit history you will understand that it comes from topics such as:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2895261.0

You need to come up with a punishment system to ban or erase merits of such "merit buyers", or completely remove the merit system.

Perhaps if you erase merits of few users such as this and announce it globally that it is not allowed, it would be seen as an example and will prevent further abuse of the system.

To me, this is no different than creating threads with reference links, and remember reference links are instantly deleted by mods, while "merit beggers" and "merit buyers" are still allowed.

Thanks for your support and Best Regards,

/goodsson

I am Turkish and I don't give a shit about nationality when it comes to "justice" and enforcing "rules / principles", otherwise you will have a system which friends protect each other and "others" are always justified unfairly.

I have sent above message to mods mentioned and did not get a reply.

I have sent another message to Turkish moderator "EFS" and did get reply "I can't do anything" but at the same time noticed that he removes all improper posts except pitipawn's posts. I have strong belief he is friend of EFS and have been enjoying double standards in the Turkish forum, despite his bad attitude, foul mouth and ego-centric threads.

He goes to threads and boasts how good he is and how pathetic others are. At times some laugh at him, some ignore him and some get aggressive with him. Recently, I have changed my tone and replied him with his own attitude, we traded some threats and bad mouthing.

It's 100% known that pitipawn is an alt-account. Through IP search and Login times, it can be easily found who is main account is.

It's also obviously he is supporting his threads through his alt-accounts and pump/dump group, you can easily identify his group by looking who has sent him merits in a short period of time. You can also see majority of people who merited him has minus trust ratings as well (no surprise).

Now this thread is deleted to public, but I am sure mods can still see the contents: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2895261.0

This forum is still the best source in Cryptocurrency. But if you want to keep forum clean or have long term vision on your "merit system", you have to have a control mechanism against abusive behaviour and take actions when needed.

I expect I will get a lot of -trust from his group soon by telling these but I don't give a shit about e-honor so here you go, it matters more to me that forum stays clean.

To be able to send that big amount of sMerits to such posts is really something.. People who send merit to their friend just because of their so-called "friendship" and to take note in just a nonsense post is unfair and unacceptable.

if you already know that people here send merits to their friend that way, why not report them instead of acting like one of them? Users like these ones are the reason why merit system is being criticized by many members here.

sMerit is created to be used in sending to a post that deserves to get merits because of its quality and sense. You are not contributing any help to promote the merit system but instead destroying its very essence.

There are so many deserving posts that are being overlooked or ignored by many people. Why not spend it to them instead of wasting it. Won't it be a better place if everyone follow the rules instead of destroying it? or maybe some people here don't like better places?

You've nailed it. The money has to come from somewhere. I would even go as far as calling people who shitpost for pennies outright thieves. They don't fulfill their end of the 'contract' properly, and yet receive full payment.

Of course.  saulzaents refers to the lunatic who gave you +50 for red-tagging him, and gave me +50 for insulting him.  Either an insane masochist, or someone with a very guilty conscience—or a persecuted genius, whose actions are predicated on cosmic designs beyond the comprehension of mere mortals! /s
Just a classic example of preemptive defense. We've seen *you-know-who* use it in a different sense.

Trying my best / you are welcome.

Exactly. Who cares where you come from? Nobody reasonable. Those that sling racism or whatever bullshit at me are just butthurt they got caught.

I have sent another message to Turkish moderator "EFS" and did get reply "I can't do anything" but at the same time noticed that he removes all improper posts except pitipawn's posts. You did PM some people (e.g. maxwell and mitchell) who's "jurisdiction" isn't that section (especially the former who is very busy and shouldn't moderate anyways). We shouldn't confuse EFS's statement of "I can't do anything" with "I do not want to do anything". I don't want to speculate on his involvement there (unless someone has evidence), even though it is very likely. What he actually meant to say is: "He can do a lot, but chooses to do nothing".

I expect I will get a lot of -trust from his group soon by telling these but I don't give a shit about e-honor so here you go, it matters more to me that forum stays clean.
That is fine. They will expose themselves and I'll tag those accounts too.

Did someone kill the thread? I only see this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2916514.msg30007854#msg30007854.

You can see that, i have merited this guy but let me tell you the story.

One night i was very drunk and i saw piti's thread and checked his old posts. Then i have seen a reply from this guy '' demezler mi size , tükürmezler mi yüzünüze pitiyi 103 meritle sincap gibi gezdiriyonuz diye ''

I have laughed nearly half an hour because it is very funny on our language (perhaps not funny, only effect of alcohol ) Cheesy , and mean is '' You show me like a SQUIRREL with 103 merits''

I have a squirrel named as SİNCO Smiley

So you are telling me that you *accidentally* (due to not being fully self aware) merited his post? That may be possible, but it is not likely that many will believe it. I'm not just looking at who merited OP, but also what they did with their other merit points and who sent them merit. That should easily separate you from the others (assuming your story is true).

There's more: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2898785.0;all (https://archive.fo/ODerP). Anyone willing to translate the OP?

"Trading merit. Thorough and very shady abuse of the new system."

If you are trying to tell that I sent those merits to get an ICO advice, I don't even have any messages between pitipawn and me Undecided

I sent those merits to support pitipawn on the race. And I would ask for a proof but since you don't have any, I'll just ask what do you want from me?

On principle, +1 for sincere national pride to quash self-serving exploitation of one’s own “community” as a wretched excuse.

Yeah I was thinking this man could be a perfect fit to represent our community while I was giving merits to his post. LOL.

It's more fun to see how you guys react to these little stupid shits.

Nothing will give Lauda a right to put that negative trust to my profile. So don't push further and stop wasting my time.

Betfair, alas:  Sarcasm and satire do not work with fools on the Internet.

I will now start spamming, scamming, punching old people on the street at random, and selling merit in exchange for BCH.  Just for fun!  Hahah.  So very funny, I am laughing myself to death.
