What would happen if another cryptocurrency took Bitcoins place in Market Cap?

So what do you think would happen if another Cryptocurrency (Example Monero / Ethereum etc) were to take Bitcoins spot as first in market cap?

Everything is possible in cryptocurreny, who knows? No one actually, if theres a coin could replace bitcoin well lets all support,coz im sure that coin has big potential also in the market,if that happens all holders of ETH would be happy,  but we cant deny the fact that Bitcoin remains in our hearts as a King coz Btc made a good history in cryptocurrency,as of now let us hope for the best of bitcoin.

I could only think of one thing. That is change. The market may never be the same again. If it would happen other coins may now be dictating the market or maybe every coin will rise up againsts each other creating a cryptocurrency market that is varied and maybe most volatile.

First of all, I think that this is just a matter of time for it to happen, and the second thing I will look with other eyes on all of the cryptocurrencies. Because for now, they all would seem to be strong enough to be the first.

This will be the a great news if someone from the altcoins will takeover bitcoin. Ethereum can do but they still need to fixed all flaws of their blockchain but so far they are on par with bitcoin. The integration of smart contract make them famous and considered an advanced on technology. Also other project like NEO can move forward but it will take time. If 5 yrs from now other project will take over, probably we can see a great future on cryptocurrency.

Where is the great news there? Taking over in terms of market cap does not mean it will be stable there forever unless there is no further development going on with bitcoin. Things can change, the cap can still fly back to bitcoin as the case may be, but we really do not need to deceive ourselves as this may not be something we can easily get to experience.

It is going to be like the battle of the titans to me and with the sentiment with bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market tending towards speculation only, which even makes it harder.

Before any other crypto currencies will over take bitcoin in terms of market cap will be as a result of more advanced technology that is to say such altcoin should be able to provide more advance means of carrying out transactions in the digital world and have a very big acceptability in the wider general public. If another coin took Bitcoin's place, then crypto would be in the news again. So good time to buy Lite Coin, Bitcoin Cash, and Eth.

It's hard to imagine another coin taking Bitcoin's place, because Bitcoin is used for everything alt. From investing into ICOs to cashing out your alts to get fiat. I would be shocked.

If another coin was treating Bitcoin... I don't know, hard to imagine, but Bitcoin is king. Another coin treating will get a lot of attention, which will in turn give Bitcoin more attention, and thus Bitcoin's price rises. That's how it works out in my mind.

We should really do follow those insights but people do always keep up on themselves that bitcoin would always be on the top thats why they do made or ask this kind of question out of their curiosity on what would possibly happen. Rankings do matter for some and anytime bitcoin can really be replaced into its spot therefore if that time comes then for sure number 1 coin is already the main trend on where it had been support by most of the community yet the dominance would be clearly seen.

I think that if ethereum coin will be replacing bitcoins then the price of other altcoins will grow as well because most of the altcoins or ico tokens today are based on ethereum.

personally, I think other coins will surpass bitcoin in market cap for sure, but bitcoin will always be the standard and what you use as the currency. I could see ETH surpassing BTC in cap, but ETH wouldn't become the new standard, it would just be ETH = 1.6 BTC or something.

I don't think so. All alt currencies are pegged to btc. If you want to swap, you almost always go via btc. If you have to pay tax, then pegging it all to btc would also be probably be done. Changing it would require divine intervention, even if the successor is better.

It's like trying to get America to change from miles to kilometers. It's ingrained into the backbone of this industry now.

Yes, in time it probably will. Right now its the biggest player in town and everyone that talks about cryptos will talk about Bitcoin in the first place. Ethereum is 2nd best known. The rest you only get to know about once you dive into this crazy world.

But having said that, Bitcoin is suffering from politics that has now resulted in a chain split. Try explaining to people which is the ' right' bitcoin. Or think about the number of scams that will pop up once everyone will try to get a piece of the crypto's. Bitcoin clones in name everywhere. (it may not even be actual blockchain assets, just numbers on a webpage. Your average person will not realize something is off). This will hurt the bitcoin brand, and can possibly lead to no one trusting the name bitcoin anymore.

Then there is utility, ease of use and integration into PoS systems. If Bitcoin cannot guarantee 3-second transaction and confirmation, ready to be used PoS software and completely obfuscate the whole 'blockchain' part (Hashed addresses, seeds etc), it will not achieve large penetration and use in retail.

I think bitcoin has become just another coin following the BCH/BTC split, and for now, only has its first mover advantage. Others are lined up with better specs and that are better suited for the different purposes.

You're right anything can happen in cryptocurrency. but for now bitcoin is still in the heart of every user. they love bitcoin and they
are very comfortable using bitcoin. and that is the key to bitcoin survive. for the next few years bitcoin will still continue to dominate

For me, other kind of crypto token will put a lot of effort for that possibility for sure. Cause they will realize that anything is possible in crypto currency, just like the value of bitcoin before till now. Then there would be a new "KING" if that thing do happen on seeing bitcoin is being overtaken by other altcoins in the market.It would surely be a record and lots of people would be shocked specially to those who hardly believe on bitcoin but we do all know this thing is really hard to achieve,its possible but would really takes time and consideration on the community on switching out into a new coin rather than on bitcoin itself.

So lets say theoretically , People saw Bitcoin and saw its many problems involving scalability etc , and dumped all of their BTC for whatever crypto... Say they took the entire market cap of BTC into ETH or XMR...

Wouldn't it be time for people to say goodbye to BTC and accept a new King?

In this cryptocurrency world, coins and tokens were bound to compete each other depending on how strong they are to survive the struggle. People will surely choose  or prefer those that are mainstream though Bitcoin has already been adopted by some countries arround the world and it is so hard for the people to just forget, abandone or anything  related to that because we already are  using and supporting the king Bitcoin at all.
