And, would it be possible using TOR network and other stuff like this to relaunch the economy of a huge country like Venezuela?
Can the macro relations be treated in an "anonymity environment".

TOR is a US government military product. It certainly won’t help Venezuelans achieve anything (it's just a browser), apart some criminals who can use it for illegal trades. It certainly won’t help recover the economy.

Many are working in many ways to recover the economy, and they’re doing a good job. They’ll surely succeed at some point, despite the huge enemies and mafias they face.
Well, I'm just trying to stick to the subject of this forum, which is the cryptos and to some extent the economic dynamics they generate. I don't want to see the ghosts some users are seeing here.
The way is not to put the blame always on others.
On the other hand, creating a new crypto to foster owns economy shouldn't be a bad idea. Let's see how it works.
But, and there are always buts, cryptos by definition are decentralization, and this is a new concept never seen on then, is the other way around, centralization by a government. Who, when opens a little the trade permitting transactions with users wallets, will lose the control, that it's to say, the pretended centralization. Again, let's see how it will work.

Regarding macroeconomics, and talking under a theoretical point on view, if some nation wants to shake off the burden of the Dollar,  should trade at the very beginning with Rubbles, € and Yuans among others, to switch ASAP to its own currency, the Petro.

And I repeat, this is a crypto forum, extended of course to it's economic dynamics and obviously it's essential technical face. So, in my humble opinion no political diatribe should be yelled.

I don't know what "ghosts" you are talking about. Tor is a web browser: it doesn't "save" any economy. It's simple.

By the way, Petro is a political and financial project, it's a government issued currency (a government hated by the US, the first world economy, able to heavily sabotage any other economy in the world). If you try to understand finance and economy without dealing with politics here, you'll have a hard time trying to understand anything. Free to make assumptions, but they'll be random.

[NEWS] Traki, Venezuelan brand of stores that sell house products, is already showing signs to say that they’ll accept Petros.
This could sound irrelevant, but a large company is using the Petro as promotional marketing (because Petro is not even available yet).

er i though Venezuelan citizens could not buy petros. so what good is this?

must of missed something but i admit im only barely paying attention to this.

cryptos by definition are decentralization, and this is a new concept never seen on then, is the other way around, centralization by a government.
technical speaking... how is the Petro centralized?

let's see:
- the venezuelan government create a coin using the NEM blockchain.
- next, the government sells 82,4% of the coins.
- now all those coins are in wallets around the world circulating through the NEM blockchain.

¿how is the Petro centralized?
¿who owns the NEM blockchain? who can decide to shut it down?
¿the venezuelan government owns the NEM blockchain?
¿how can the government stop, manipulate or shut the Petro down?

i'm just asking.

i though Venezuelan citizens could not buy petros. so what good is this?
must of missed something but i admit im only barely paying attention to this.
venezuelan citizens can buy petros.
right now, they just have to buy bitcoins or ethereum using their local currency in a local exchange or buy bitcoins/ethereum to a person that has those cryptocurrencies.
in a few months, they could buy petros directly in a local exchange or buy petros to a person that has them.

in Venezuela, you can open a Bank Account with U.S. dollars. Some venezuelan like me have one.
in theory, you can have dollars in that Bank Account and transfer to the venezuelan government to buy Petros.

you have been brainwashed with the U.S. dictatorship propaganda against Venezuela.

monero or zcash could also be banned by usa if they officialy work with venezuela unfortunately....
If it is very probable, but DeepOnion has something better to offer, it can give privacy and total anonymity, with transactions impossible to trace, even in countries with prohibitions and regulations, many things could be achieved, because the ban that the USA gave could affect a lot, It would be a masterful move if they protect themselves with anonymity.
And, would it be possible using TOR network and other stuff like this to relaunch the economy of a huge country like Venezuela?
Can the macro relations be treated in an "anonymity environment".
Of course, the Tor network in Venezuela works normally, there are no problems, if Venezuelans operate with DeepOnion they will not only have anonymity in their operations, but the economy will automatically increase, there are foreign currency inflows that are worth much more than their economy. Money from Fiat. Just think, if you negotiate with ONIONS, nobody could trace the transactions, it would be impossible ... In case you prohibit the TOR network, which I do not believe, with the integration of OBFS4 and MEEK would enter, as in CHINA. Cool

Why do they lean towards NEM technology? Is not technology better than anonymity? Where it is impossible to trace, I understand that the USA has forbidden to operate with petros, is not it better to evade this through anonymity technologies?

Venezuelans chose a blockchain that offers a degree of control and security, fast and convenient development, performance (as they say in the White Paper). NEM offers that. The absolute anonymity is not in their interest, also because they want to avoid illegal uses and money laundering through Petro.

Nobody in their right mind would have relied on the Tor onion network that is funded and has many nodes controlled by the US government. Relying on it would be suicidal. The government of Venezuela is already dependant on Internet, which is strongly controlled by US corporations and where they are a very weak player, with no control. And Venezuela has no censorship. Their status on social networks is disastrous, as their institutional accounts do not get verified anymore and have been banned in some occasions.

In short: the Petro needs maximum independence from anything Venezuela cannot control, certainly from anything controlled by the US, as it is one of its main reasons to exist.

I am testing Petrowallet on linux 64 in virtualbox, but it does not seem to be able to receive funds.
I created standard wallet, and successfully logged in, but there is no account information on desktop wallet.
I understand it is just beta, but it only shows "send" tab and other things, not most crucial function to receive the currency.
Are there any documentation for this wallet?

Also I want to warn you; NEM itself is a closed source software. It has public API documentation and source code is on github, but its most important consensus algorithm is not open to public. Also, after coincheck.com hack, NEM foundation was proven to be pure incompetent brainless people.
Even more, NEM protocol is centralized by its founders, as you can see in node selection list. I don't know why VE government chose this "technology", but it was very wrong choice. It could have been better, maybe using sidechain or drivechain, proof of burn one-way pegged chain, etc was far better.
Personally I recommend VE government to use federated sidechain of bitcoin. If you keep using NEM blockchain, their enemy will most probably try to collude with NEM founders and its consensus algorithm.

you have been brainwashed with the U.S. dictatorship propaganda against Venezuela.
You don't need to wait for your answer, you've already done it. In spirit they try to control it saying it will be backed by barrels and other commodities, but when the market is open, nobody except the hand of the market itself will control the price. The concept is just not only technically.

The people in an open forum is not brainwashed,  they can speak freely. This is called freedom of speech. It's very simple but hard to understand for others that are not used to. And for me this is a political diatribe. Try to use grounds far from these ones.
By the way, these are the ghosts I was talking about.

later, when it will be accepted globally as a payment.
like ethereum, bitcoin...
Of course, while trying to get dollars, they are also working hard to be less dependent on it and to diversify their reserves. Now they accept Yuan and Euros in their oil trade. Soon Petros.

The Petro will be adopted as much as possible, but that will take time. Anyway, no crypto in the world will have the level of adoption the Petro will have very soon.
Cool. Good to know.
I´ll wait for the Petro to be a worldwide accepted currency.

Did they announce it, whether it is accepted worldwide because why can't other countries will keep silent? Each country has their vision in terms cryptocurrency may be each country can easily develop their own coin if it is coming into existence.

In short: the Petro needs maximum independence from anything Venezuela cannot control, certainly from anything controlled by the US, as it is one of its main reasons to exist.

But as far as I know, the Venezuelans were not asked what technology they wanted to use, in the white book that is in fact very poor, they speak of an algorithm token ERC20, an algorithm that a child can develop in 5 minutes, saying that the TOR network It is not reliable, you are contradicting yourself, that is what the banks and governments say for the simple fact that they can not trace the transactions, now how are you going to avoid the blockade that the USA did? if in part they have great global control? If you are a developer I think you are learning from blockchain, anonymity is not only for scams or money laundering that is what the Venezuelan Government does, with NEM technology they can track them and apart they can prohibit them, so I do not see a smart feature about this, the speed and the reasons you say are not logical, with the same NEM technology can track all those users of Petro and prohibit them equally, then it would not be a centralized currency but decentralized, and if so it would be like Ripple that does not have I sense that currency that the banks own, for that reason it looks for the ripple technology that is totally centralized.

Update 3-24-18:

1. Maduro announced on the 22nd that from the next day on it would be possible to buy directly through the website www.elpetro.gob.ve petros in yuan, ruble, Turkish lira, euro, ethereum, bitcoin and xem.
2. Still today there isn’t any possibility to indicate on that webpage that you want to buy petros in ruble, Turkish lira or xem. The only options continue to be dollar, euro, yuan, bitcoin and ethereum.
3. There is no way to buy petros directly through the website. You can indicate the maximum amount you want to spent on petros in the currency selected and then, hopefully, will receive one day information on how and where to transfer your money and on how you will receive your petros.
4. Just today the Nem account was updated with a new mosaic “ico” which informs us that “You will receive Petro at the end of ICO.” According to the white paper the ICO will end when “the Petros of the first emission are exhausted”.
5. The description of the new mosaic “ico” also informs, that it cannot be moved, contradicting the fact that it was created as transferable.
6. Maduro announced that the possibility to buy petros directly on the indicated website will last 15 days, but that this time might be prolonged. Given the fact next week public employees in Venezuela will not work, one should expect a prolongation.
7. The white paper is seriously out of date: There was no sale of tokens PETRO:PRESALE during “pre-sale”, there will be no way to exchange those tokens for petros VE:PTR.

So Venezuelans can not have Petros, because they do not sell them in Bs, do they have to buy Dollars at the price of a black dollar to access that token? Everything is very badly done ...
