IMHO, there is nothing wrong in trying those 2.00 odds for as long as you are gambling with what you afford.

We're gamblers after all and we go to the best potential profits as we gamble and doing that isn't new for most gamblers.

But to bet on random games, this is the YOLO mentality that many keeps on doing even if they are aware that the potential chance of losing is higher than winning.

There is definitely nothing wrong in trying 2.0 odds, but as I mentioned, it is not possible that the games you bet on based on your understanding and analysis of the teams where you know one side would have an advantage, you might not always get 2.0 or higher odds in such games, so it's not possible for one to always use a martingale strategy and successfully recover what they have previously lost. One could say that they can adjust the amount they are using for each bet, but that will only mean more risk, because at the end of the day, you don't know if you are going to win or not.

We know that there could be deadly streaks in all sorts of gambling, we often see that in casino games, but it could also happen in sports betting. So, if someone is trying martingale strategy and increasing their bet after each loss, what if they don't get a win even after 10 bets? You're right, it's not only about luck but requires some skills in able to read good matches with promising odds.

And applying martingale, I've never thought that I can do that in sports betting because it takes time and even in a quicker phase.

$4 feels like robbery after grinding those bets. I once lost $50 trying to avoid fees by withdrawing smaller amounts.

It takes time and it also takes courage to try martingale strategy in sports betting because as I mentioned, you might not always get your desired odds in matches where you can make your bets because sports betting is not about making guesses like casino games where you choose the amount and simply click the button to see the results, if you are into sports betting, you need to have knowledge and understanding of the sports you are making bets in, and you should know the teams and the players very well before placing your bets. So, if you choose random games only because you are getting 2x odds on them only because you are using the martingale strategy and you have to get 2x returns, you might lose multiple games in a row.

So, I totally agree that it takes a lot of courage for someone to try martingale strategy on sports betting, I personally would never try something like that because I know that it's not going to work out and if I lose a few matches in a row, I'm not going to be able to find a game that would give me 2x odds when I need it.

I have seen discussions about martingale, I have seen people praised it, I have seen people criticize it and me personally I don’t think it’s a good strategy (for both casino and sports betting).

The whole idea of having to increase my next stake amount each time I lose a bet, it sounds weird to me. I haven’t done the whole calculations to see how many games I’ll have to win back my money after losing 5 consecutive games or even more. But I feel like it’s a strategy that puts all your previous efforts to nothing the moment you start to lose.

Normally, we’re suppose to play safe when we lose out bet but martingale does the opposite which makes the whole thing look odd to me. But if you’re able to hit profit with it, that’s great, but it’s definitely not something I’ll be trying out anytime soon.

If this strategy truly worked, we would see many people on this forum and elsewhere constantly showing their gains and profits, and few people would talk about long-term losses. We would see many people saying they are making very good long-term profits, but what we see in reality is completely the opposite. We see people complaining that they used this strategy but lost everything in the long run. I myself have tested this strategy several times and lost in every attempt and gave up.
