This is so sad, i think there should be action needed on this, if we are letting them to do it, i guess a lot of investors would back out and the bitcoin price again will crash.

I'm so glad I don't use twitter or any other social media websites. I heard facebook got something similar and even google stepped up to deny the ICO's promotion but somehow this got uplifted so now a bunch of ICO's ads are everywhere on social medias so it was normal for the hackers to try to get some account or some coins.

Thanks for the warning thread, not only twitter but in Facebook as well. But for that twitter post, I'm not quite sure if he's promoting their own McAfee product to avoid the scammers, or he's concerning about us.

Yikes. How the hell are the scammers getting the blue "verified" tick? Shouldn't be that easy right? Twitter needs to up their game as soon as possible.

They are hacking people outside of cryptocurrency with verified badges and then changing their name. On other platforms, if you change your name you have to get reverified ( which only seems right ) but I guess on twitter you don't have too.

How have they managed to hack on twitter accounts? Are their security too low? Twitter is one of the billion dollars companies so I thought their security is the latest.

Twitter has good security in my opinion because Twitter is one of the social media that is used by everyone in this world. is it a doubt

Not only are the scammers doing the fake accounts that say "send .02 BTC and get triple" but apparently now they are either buying verified accounts or hacking them and changing the names and pictures to cryptocurrency people. Now it can actually be hard to tell if someone is scamming.

An example:https://twitter.com/officialmcafee/status/967887920991559681

Really shitty that this is happening. Be careful everyone
Agree with you nowadays hacker are everywhere and some of them using someone identity to scam someone specially newbie they are easily jump into this and when they scam they will cry. Thank you for this warning so I'm aware so we must put more security in our account to avoid this kind of scenario and we should take an action for this before it was too late for us.

There are scammer and fraudsters everywhere. These so called social media giants do not know, how to stop such menace or they are willingly allowing them to survive to help security firms.

The only thing that we need to do is to understand that NOTHING IS FREE in this world.

It is always good to avoid such offers and still if you want to avail such offer, It is good to verify them.

Really annoying. But there are really bad people out there, wolves in sheep's clothing. And no matter how we try to put a stop to their activities, another bunch will spring out.

So i guess the best way to dodge such scams is to avoid greed as well. Never be blinded by the triple your money investment schemes or anything as such.

As what you cited, people get enticed since the amount to be invested is not so big yet the return is tripled.  But when one really thinks of it, how can they do that? And in such a short span of time only? When you question the means, then there's a good probability that one won't get duped that easily.

Let's make our lives less stressful. So yeah if someone sent you a message and you didn't know him personally then don't mind it and even he's telling you that he'll give the world. Nonetheless, we all want to have an easy money but if this will just ruin everything that we've work for then cut it early.

Always remember that they'll continue to scam people if they'd see that there are people who easily fall to them.

Surely, demons sometomes pretend to be an angel tho.

The scammers simply created a rogue Elon Musk account on Twitter, then called on people to convert Ethereum into their purse with the promise of repaying a large sum of money. The scammers also created some other fake Twitter accounts, to answer below and confirm that they have received Ethereum, in order to create trust and entice people. It's easy to discover that these Twitter accounts are only created and have a unique tweet.

On twitter I've seen a lot of fraudulent news. They bring great profits to the desired player by the amount of players invested. They then delete the player's account. game over

I urge everyone reading this post to stay away and beware of scammers operating fake twitter accounts. Some get their followers through the help of bots and sell at ridiculous price. Also some use top Crypto icon names to scam people, by promising to double whatsoever the coin sent to their wallet.. Am not a victim of this incident but I have friends that have been duped from mischievous people like this.

Hint : Top icon on twitter has the Blue ticker beside their name which implies verified account.

But why can't this scammers be logical for once, the same brain they use in scamming and fraud can as well be used to invent something positive that will enhance the society. They are now present on all social media networks even on this platform.
