Regrets: Selling most of the BTC that I mined in 2011 and 2012. Trusting Andrew "shakaru" Nollan too much (he still owes me $200). Some BTC<->fiat trading decisions. With all the other scams and hacks I was actually quite lucky, I don't trust others easily and I often wait some time (days, weeks or months) before trying new services or otherwise parting with my BTC. And very often just when I am almost ready to send some money a service/exchange/security turns out to be a fraud/gets hacked/aliens attack/whatever. EDIT: My reply in a similar thread: Selling and buying Bitcoins too often at the wrong price.
Buying a 6 month mining contract from a guy who ran away with the money (didn't recover everything).
Trusting Mt.Gox is a reliable company.

Ignoring the Slashdot story I read in mid 2010 as nothing more than another Hashcash proof-of-work email thing. Everyone thinks Satoshi is a genius, ArtForz is the true genius for seeing value early on and going for it. I took another year to see Bitcoin as valuable.

But the good thing is humans are so full of regrets that we can list a new one in each thread. With enough threads we'll get to them all eventually. Here's another one: Accepting the free btc from Bitcoinica for signing up. That eventually cost me.

I must be too careful (everyone must be insane, because looking back I've been anything but careful). I have maybe two or three regrets that sneak up on me in REM sleep. There is too much shit to do to be worrying about the past. But we have to look back. It improves our future. Would anyone today put all their btc in an online wallet that could be hacked or stolen by the operator? Oh yeah, they're still doing it.... never mind.

Switching wallets too often. Lost a lot of BTC due to transaction fees and stupidity (losing wallets)

What are some of your biggest bitcoin mistakes or regrets, and what the hell were you thinking? Besides "not getting in sooner" Obligatory: BFL Using Bitcoin QT software to hold a shit ton of money in wallet.dat files and being filled with terror every time I tried to open them because I would repeatedly encounter errors or problems, corruptions, or my encryption key would "fail" for no valid reason (which turned out to be a case sensitivity issue that I swear to this day I did not cause - twice!).... no more trusting my money to a software program.

Not buying ASICminer shares at 0.01 BTC when I had the chance. I mean, I could spend a year whining about not mining in 2011, but I wasn't even involved in Bitcoin back then so that's that. But the shares, I was there and I was thinking about buying.
