Dear Sharpay Community!

Sharpay development update: fixed VK registration error, refined sharing bonus calculation, improve FB page binding, fixed token bonus resolving bug, added transaction filter for bounty tasks, etc.

During the long continuous development of our Sharpay project, we keep adding new features on it. Also, we keep reviewing our Sharpay buttons and fixing bugs to give our button users the best product. Here are some improvements we made: 
 
1) Fixed VK registration error. Recently, we found an error regarding VK account registration. Null value would insert into username in the database and get rejected by the system. We found the code caused the error and fixed it.
 
2) Refined sharing bonus calculation. We have refined the sharing bonus calculation. In this refinement, we fixed the maximum daily bonus, ignored the zero bonuses in the calculation, added bonus decline reason and improved the calculation logging.

3) Improved FB page binding. We improved the FB page binding for users. If the user has only one FB page, but not multiple FB pages, when he binds his FB page to his Sharpay account, the system will automatically connect it after authorization.
 
4) Fixed token bonus resolving bug. In our admin token moderation section, if the frozen tokens were released without changing the user status first, the tokens would be declined by our system. We found the bug in our code and fixed it.
 
5) Added transaction filter for bounty tasks in admin panel. In our system admin panel, we have added the filter for bounty task bonus transactions. Our admins are able to check the bounty task transactions for all users and make statistics accordingly.

6) Fixed encoding problem for Medium news. We recently found an encoding problem regarding displaying Medium news on our official website. The problem was caused by the special characters. We fixed it by changing the encoding.

7) Reviewed codebase audit results. As we have mentioned before that we conducted an audit for our Sharpay product code and refactoring planning. We reviewed the audit results and we will soon complete the codebase audit report. The audit report will be announced in a big article.

Dear Sharpay Members!

Recently, we have added a new feature to reward users for completing bounty tasks within the system (filling out a profile, connecting social network accounts, and others). We understood that the new way of earning token bonuses can be used for cheating. Therefore, we have updated an algorithm for calculating bonuses for user tasks in our activity monitoring system.

More than a month after the release of bounty tasks, everything was fine and worked as it should. But on July 1, the monitoring system sent a notification that one of the users received bonuses more than the limit. We raised the system logs for this user and began to analyze them. The analysis helped us restore all user actions and find out how he could get an additional bonus.

We would like to clarify the technical feature that is embedded in the system. Users are able to create accounts in Sharpay using social networks. For example, a user can create a Sharpay account via Facebook using his laptop, and also create another account via Telegram using smartphone. Thus, the same user will have two different accounts. His will have two different token balances, and this is a very inconvenient for him to manage two different accounts.

To solve this situation in Sharpay there is a system of merging accounts. When linking a social network profile to a Sharpay account, it checks for the presence of this profile in other accounts. And if it finds an intersection, it merges them into one common account, where all social user accounts and total balance will be combined together. The algorithm for merging accounts turned out to be problematic for the bounty tasks.

Let us return to the user who found this loophole in our system.

He created a main account using email and password login. Then, he created a second account using a social network and completed several bounty tasks for earning tokens. After that, he logged into his main account and linked the same social network profile that he used for the second account. Our system detected it and merged both accounts and balances together. The second account which completed the social network task was deleted because of the merging. He removed social network bindings from his main account. As a result, he was able to complete the task again by registering a new account via social networks and earn 370 S tokens more before we could stop him. In this bug, he could keep creating accounts using social networks, merging them together and disconnecting the social networks in the main account to loop the bounty task.

At the moment, we have made changes to the algorithm for merging accounts and the bonus for completing tasks is rewarded once. If the task was performed in both accounts, then during the transfer the bonus received in the second account will be subtracted from the transferred balance.

We strive to improve our system and pay great attention to security issues and protection against abuse. We are grateful to this user for his inquisitive mind and time spent. We not only did not reset tokens “illegally” earned by him, but also in appreciation of his effort, we accrued to him an additional 1000 S tokens as a bug bounty reward.

Sharpay development update: added user’s completed tasks to Admin panel, a new function to send notification messages to individual users, improved account merging function, fixed audience settings error, etc.

Development requires continuous testing and improving. We have been developing Sharpay project for more years, added a lot of new functions and features. During the long development path, we keep reviewing and improving our system. There are some errors we fixed and improvements we made lately:

1) Added user’s completed tasks to Admin panel. We added the user’s completed tasks to our Admin panel, so we can easily check what bounty tasks the user has completed and speed up the checking when there are unpredictable errors.
 
2) Added function to send notification messages to individual users. Before adding this function, we used to contact and inform users by emails for different issues. Now, our Admins are able to send notification messages to individual users or to all users within the system, users can check the messages when they log into their Sharpay accounts.

3) Improved account merging function. We have mentioned about the issue regarding account merging function and bounty tasks before, we reviewed the merging function and changed the merging condition. After the improvement, the merging function will only consider active accounts and it will not transfer any disabled account balance when merging.
 
4) Fixed audience settings error. When a webmaster delegated project edit right to a user, the delegated user could not edit the audience settings and the system would show an error. We reviewed the audience setting page and fixed the code associated with the audience editing rights.
 
5) Fixed the email sending bug. There was a problem when sending emails via Amazon Simple Email Service. The problem would increase the connection timeout and pause before the second attempt to send an email to a user. We found the bug which caused the problem and fixed it.
 
We are speeding up our new interface development and very soon we will release it. The new interface has followed the 2019’ UI / UX trend as we have mentioned before. The user panel has improved a lot and it is very user-friendly and stylish. Also, the new sharing window has completely changed and integrated with different new features. Today, we would like to talk about how to make your Sharpay account more secure. The best way to secure your accounts is two-factor authentication (2FA). It is an important security tool in keeping accounts safer than simply using a password.

2FA adds a second step to logging into your Sharpay account, making it more difficult for unauthorized users to break in. Install Google Authenticator app on your smartphone and follow the below simple steps to set up 2FA:

1) Log into your Sharpay account.
2) In the top bar menu, go to “Account Security”.
3) Click and activate “Two-factor authentication check”, and you will see a QR code and a key.
4) Use your Google Authenticator application (GA) to scan and configure the QR code. You may manually add the key to your GA.
5) Type a recovery code word.
6) Enter a one-time password generated from GA to confirm your setting.

❗️ Remember the code word! It can recover your account, if you lose access to your 2FA devices, and are unable to get the 2FA password.

🔸 1) Additional modal design sharing window. Webmasters are able to choose to display the sharing window in modal effect in the button customization settings. A modal window is a javascript effect that displays on top of the current page. The main benefit of modal windows is that they avoid window pop-ups and additional page reloads. Seamless sharing in modal window brings all users perfect sharing experience!

🔸 2) Eye-catching interactive sharing animation and design. Every time you click on share, you will see an interactive animation modal window fade in and then slide down all the sharing choices for you. The top part of the modal window gives you a short description of the current page you are visiting, and you can see our Sharpay icon flipping with the token reward rolling under it. Besides, we use the same animation and interface for our app.sharpay.io. We selected the best font and colors to use in our design. You may also see your token balance at the top is rolling with animation, the drop down menu is clean and clear. The overall interactive animation and the design are smart and attractive, which gives you a refreshing user interface!

🔸 3) Boundless sharing options. In the old sharing system, you could not choose what sharing methods you wanted and it was always decided by the websites. Before, we separated "Simple sharing" and "Multisharing". They were independent and connected to different social networks, and only the webmasters could decide how users share their website content.

In our new sharing window, we put all sharing methods together, and you are not restricted by the types of share buttons website installed. You are able to choose "Direct sharing with rewards", "Multisharing with rewards" or just copy the referral link for sharing with rewards. Dear Community!

Sharpay development update: fixed a XSS bug in project editor, added a feedback program for users, added and refined the help section for webmasters, improved the mobile version of our application, etc.

Recently we have upgraded our sharing window and user panel with the latest UX/UI design, we keep testing and improving our application to ensure it is running at peak performance. Here are some development tasks we have completed:

1) Fixed a XSS bug in project editor. Thanks to our bounty hunter NG, he discovered a Cross-site Scripting (XSS) bug in project editor that could let hackers execute malicious scripts in our application. Our Tech team review and fixed it immediately and reward him with S tokens for reporting this bug.

Thanks to this bounty hunter, our Tech team performed numerous deep scans of our application. We have found another critical bug and we fixed it.

2) Added a feedback program for users. We created a feedback program for users, and they are now able to send us their suggestions, feedback about our application through the Feedback form. The feedback program is created also for a continuous bounty program that we will tell you in a separate news soon.

3) Added and refined the help section for webmasters. We added and refined the help section for webmasters, especially for those who are new to our system. We added instructions for different button installation methods, project settings and project statistical reports.

4) Improved the mobile version of our application. Using our new interface design framework, we improved the mobile version of our application. There were some small design improvements we made, for example, refined the help cards presentation, fixed the mobile navigation and user guide animation, improved the notification design in mobile version.

5) Created transaction records for users. We have created transaction records to show the commission for withdrawal and the use of alternative tokens, users will be able to see the details for all transactions in the new interface.

6) Set up token info from CMC. We made a script to get the token logo, description and website link from CoinMarketCap and display them next to the token name.

7) Fixed an error about updating data from CMC. There was an error when our system tried to update data from CMC. We have updated the parameters and fixed the error.

Dear Webmasters!

New modal sharing window for the future sharing activated! All websites with Sharpay buttons are upgraded with the new modal sharing window.

As we have substantially changed the sharing window in the new Sharpay's UI / UX (dashboards and sharing windows), we paid a lot of attention to sharing window in modal style and its convenience. We noticed that after the release, many webmasters did not know that they could change the browser sharing window to modal sharing window for the convenience of users. We thought thoroughly and decided to make the automatic transition of all sites to use only modal sharing window.

Yesterday we made this mandatory update in our sharing system for all websites. We removed the option to choose between sharing window in browser window and modal window. Now you can see how modal sharing window looks by clicking on the Sharpay button installed on your website.

If you installed our share buttons in "Static" or "Floating" type, you will have a modal sharing window automatically. However, if you are using the "Direct" share button type, the sharing window will open in a new browser window, and lead you directly to the designated social media. Believe us, the modal sharing window is better and more stylish. We have designed it to fit any device.

If for some reason you insist to have the sharing window opened in browser window style instead of modal window, please write to our admin (https://t.me/sharpay_admin). We would like to hear from you.

Dear Our Security Followers!

We discovered and banned all botnet accounts in our system. Added reCaptcha to our registration system to prevent spamming.

In our scheduled system check, we noticed that some users added “Hict” to their names (e.g. KesarHict, AdelineHict). After checking those users, it turned out that there are more than 650 such accounts in our system. Every day, there are 20 to 30 new accounts with the same ending were created. All such accounts were registered via email. This was a problem for us.

We began to investigate why someone needed so many accounts in our system and how they were used. We checked the logs of those users and found out that after registration, there was no other activity happened. We discovered that all the account requests came from the same subnet of several IP addresses.

After deeply checking some of those IP addresses, we found out that they were also in the blacklists of spammers. It turned out to be a botnet that attacks target users’ email inboxes. By creating a large amount of accounts, the botnet caused a stream of system emails sent from us to the email addresses that were used for registration. It threatened our mailing service to go into spamming list mistakenly and our mailing service might be suspended by our service provider.

As a result, we:

✅ deactivated all botnet accounts in our Sharpay system
✅ added reCaptcha in our signup form
✅ and blocked all the IP addresses that were used for spamming.


We will continue to monitor unusual activities in our system and give our users the best service.

Dear Our Beloved Sharpay Community!

Sharpay.io officially launches new wallet functions. Now, in addition to withdrawal, users are able to deposit or buy S tokens!

We have updated our system of buying, depositing and withdrawing S tokens. They are all designed with our latest UX / UI framework. For right now, you are able to use these functions only with S tokens, we will release the full version soon with the possibility of using different tokens. Let us introduce each of the functions.

🔸 Buy S tokens
You can buy S tokens from our system reserve at CoinMarketCap rate at the time of the transaction being confirmed. We developed and launched this feature primarily for webmasters in accordance with our White Paper. In the near future, we will focus on the next phase, monetization program of our product and the opportunity for webmasters to increase token rewards for users for sharing.

Also, for all other users that do not yet have our S tokens, you can use ETH (Ethereum) to buyS tokens directly from us (we do not support USD or other fiat currencies at the moment). This is the simplest option for you to get our S tokens without having tedious process on crypto exchanges. To buy S token through us, please follow the below steps:

1. Go to “Wallet” page (https://app.sharpay.io/profile/wallet).
2. In the balance card, click “Buy”.
3. There is a calculator at the top you may use to calculate the token amount (at CoinMarketCap rate).
4. You will see an auto-generated address (in QR code and in plain text) for you personally to buy S tokens.
5. Please read carefully the instructions and terms before buying.
6. Send ETH to the designated address and wait for confirmation.
7. We will credit S tokens to your account based on CoinMarketCap rate at the time of the transaction being confirmed.

🔸 Deposit S tokens
This is developed for our webmasters especially. Webmasters are able to deposit S tokens (in the future, any tokens) to their Sharpay accounts, and reward users with S tokens for sharing and promoting their web content. It is simple and easy to deposit S tokens to their accounts:

1. Go to “Wallet” page (https://app.sharpay.io/profile/wallet).
2. In the balance card, click “Deposit”.
3. You will see an auto-generated address (in QR code and in plain text) for you personally to deposit S tokens.
4. Please read carefully the instructions and terms before depositing.
5. Send S tokens to the designated address and wait for confirmation.
6. We will credit S tokens to your account after the transaction is confirmed by the Ethereum network.

🔸 Withdraw S tokens
We have redesigned it with our latest UX / UI framework. You can see a balance summary of the token you wish to withdraw. You can also check your withdrawal activities and history. Please follow the below steps to successfully withdraw your tokens:

1. Go to “Wallet” page (https://app.sharpay.io/profile/wallet).
2. In the balance card, click “Withdraw”.
3. Select the token you want to withdraw.
4. Go to “Create Withdrawal Request” card on your right, enter your personal ETH wallet address for withdrawal.
5. Please read carefully the instructions and terms before withdrawing.
6. Enter the amount of S tokens you want to withdraw.
7. Click “Request” and we will send you a confirmation email.
8. Check your email inbox (and just in case the spam folder), confirm your withdrawal request by clicking the confirmation link in the email.
9. We will send you the requested withdrawal amount, please wait for the Ethereum network confirmation.
