Demand and supply affect the price of bitcoin, when many people buy it goes up and when they sell,  it goes down, I think negative news are making it go down when people sell, plus that cause add to the cause too but with less impact
I think that is the main reason's why bitcoin rapidly going down. Demand and supply and to add these negative news circulating in crypto world. Once their is demand the higher the volume of bitcoin prices. So hold definitely could be the best for me when its down.

Is it because of the large number of altcoins?

Altcoin price movement is affected by Bitcoins fall. Big investors have dumped a large amount of their investment for the later rebuy option. There are even some regulations that are being taken and that has influenced the fall. This phase which is currently present on the market is taking to long by my opinion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also hope as all the common investors that the prices will start to rise soon because this holding is boring. I cannot trade currently because I will end with a loss and that is a concern with all traders that are using the crypto market.

It is the right value and right development of bitcoin if the continuously increasing the this will happen in all currencies growing with stability is the right development for all currencies .

the ban of google and facebook have directly affect the circulation of the coin... buyers are now getting smaller in numbers because it afraid to the effect of the ban to the currency... the demand was low thus affecting the price. hopefully,  ther will be countries that well be added to the list that will accept bitcoins that would be a great help to uplift the price of the coin.

For me the reason behind it, is people are selling. Everyone has daily needs. I think there's nothing wrong with it. Some maybe because of the news of banning bitcoin by facebook and google. I got question, I hope I found and read in the forum about banning advertisement to social media. Is there any classification for banning? Or the news is only referring to paid advertisement. Does manual advertisement is included in banning advertisement. I hope manual posting is not included. I'm seeing the reason why banning advertisement to social media is because of scammers. I just hope that big company from social media has resolution in the coming days.

Altcoins are not in any way hindering the value of Bitcoin, but Bitcoin value affects the Alts prices. Part of what may be the causes of rapidly decline in Bitcoin prices are the effect of continuous lower patronage for Bitcoin because of FUD, [negative rumor spread around the world about bitcoin, whereby the Big whales, Interested millionaires, and persistent traders and investors started restricting themselves from purchasing more, which hereby brought about Deflation. Though it is natural at times, but this situation shall turn over soon.
Bitcoin market always shakes up when millionaires perform. They are the ones who decide the future of bitcoin in some way. Though it is not the only reason but makes a lot of sense.

Whenever there is big selling out, the price of bitcoin goes down and there is no doubt in it, people would have sold BTC when it was 20k dollars to make profit. Now as the investment will increase, the price of bitcoin will also increase. It fluctuates the most because of its limited supply.

Odnaznachno it's not because of the Altoquin, just the government is trying to start regulating bitcoin, which also affects the decrease in bitcoin. Facebook and google also give a prohibition on bitcoin and this also affects the price of bitcoin. But I think in the shortest time everything will stabilize and bitcoin will grow rapidly.

It is because of FUD spreading fakes news and those weak hands are selling their coins.

For me the possible reasons for price downfall are people doing panic selling in the market eroded by the negativity spread by the market forces.Other reasons can be google banning crypto advertisements impacting the downfall on the prices but all the dips are temporary and prices will surge soon.

Because of the countries designating regulation based on cryptocurrency and there are countries that have banned cryptocurrency. There are also news releases. One is that facebook has been already banned such ads about cryptocurrency, also follow the steps banned the ads about crypto are twitter and google. Many people are alarming in the news that it caused doubt or fear especially to investors, so it is also one of the possible reasons why the price of bitcoin has dropped.

Is it because of the large number of altcoins?

I don't see that the altcoins are the reason my bitcoin is falling. For me, I think those people whose always dumping bitcoin are the reason why bitcoin price is falling. We all know that some people were panicked if they see that bitcoin price is falling and it leads them to dumping because they are afraid to lose profit but actually they already loss.

Agree. Altcoins fall with bitcoin together. It's better to say that altcoins are falling because bitcoin is falling. But the main reason is people who are panic selling. Governments try to make us scared by imposing new regulations, media write about it and then people panic sell.

I think government is one of the major key here because they want to control bitcoin in the first place, then the next problem I see is FUD and that is the reason why many bitcoin users sell their coin they become panic seller and those big player has got a big benefit here.

Is it because of the large number of altcoins?
No not at all its not because of large number of altcoins. I would have said this is truth until january when the btc dominance was continuously falling. But now the market cap of whole cryptos has fallen considerably and btc dominance has been increasing now. So no this is not at all valid reason. Bitcoin and altcoins generally go hand in hand. I think people have flushed out all their money out of cryptos or some whales are playing with us.

Bitcoin and Alt's coin are having different path, separate purposes and objective. No matter what happen, Altcoin are won't create major impact on Bitcoin value.

The continues increasing volume of Alts in almost everyday are never disturb Bitcoin. Because they created differently.

The large number of altcoins is not a reason why the price of bitcoin rapidly goes down. As you can see, when bitcoin decreases its price, other cryptocurrencies also lose its price and therefore, I can say that bitcoin affects other cryptocurrencies stronger than they can affect bitcoin. The reason here is that the whales are trying to collect bitcoin and then, they will suddenly pump the price of bitcoin to the moon

There cannot be a single factor to decrease the worth of the bitcoin and the money involved in the bitcoin but many many multiple factors combine with each other and start making the things worse in the market and when all of the external factors get away, the most dangerous internal factor starts that is the “panic Selling” and it really make the things very much crucial and poorer for the holders, traders and the new comers.

After a big rise in the price a correction follows. Welp that was our correction, it was much needed to go to new highs.

Altcoins  are a factor the more altcoins there are in the market the more market share they take away from bitcoin however that is not really the reason why the price of bitcoin is going down the price of bitcoin going down for the simple fact there is not a lot of demand and there is not a lot of demand because there was a very huge crash not too long ago.

Is it because of the large number of altcoins?
It won't be affected by them. The common thing that really have a huge contribution for this dip is the issues of regulating all exchanger and Mt .Gox members that are selling their btc in cheap price. If all of thesE will be done, then we see a bright side again.

Is it because of the large number of altcoins?

There is a recent news where the cryptocurrency market in japan has lost $500m worth of coins and most of the people are scared to lose profit that's why they are selling all their coins rapidly in the market and it affects everyone from decreasing its value.
