I've seen people who are new in crypto investing more than $1,000 but not more than $10,000 as a start. So guess what's the number that you think you are good with. But I'd prefer you to start investing with bitcoin first before joining any ICO or buying alt coin. That will be the best starting coin for a beginner.

My rule of thumb is money that you don't need. That you can put in and not lose sleep over. If you're going to lose sleep over the money you have in crypto currency. You have too much invested.

I would consider $1000 as a good starting point when you want to invest into cryptocurrency. The amount you put in will be proportional to the profit you will make. It is important you put in some amout that would justify your effort and that woukd reward you accordingly.

In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.

The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

I recently found one project called Ethereum Meta, it is related to anonymity and untraceable transaction. They have a very interesting project to build the Anonymous E-Market Place.

They are on ICO stage right now and already on the exchanges, you can check their website: https://ethermeta.com/
Or even better go through their Bitcointalk thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2659058.0

I’m glad you already know the rule, “ start with t what you can afford to loose”. That is all you need and you probably have it already. Since you insist on us giving a figure  I will say start with $150. I started with $50 and it exposed me to the market and prepared me well before I topped up with much money.

Invest what you can afford. I remember I started with $10 or $20? Then I started building my portfolio and invested around $60. I haven't tried investing $100 in one go since I am not in the stage yet where I could risk a week's budget for crypto  Grin Anyway, I only invest what I can afford to lose so that if the market is bullish then its good and if the market is bearish I am not one of those cry babies who are afraid to look at their portfolio and keep ranting why their investments are down  Grin

I can't say how much. but 100$ I think is good. As long as you are satisfied to invest with your 100$. But in me, 100$ is a good start, but before you invest, atleast study the market, the history, everything in crypto.

What is a good amount to start with when investing into crypto?

I see lots of posts about “I have $100 / $200, what should I buy” and most of the time the answers are with that amount just invest in an ICO etc etc.

I would be interested to know what people here consider a good starting amount to invest...and I know the basics of not investing more than you can afford to loose but for arguements sake, what’s a good number to start with?

I’m not so much interested from a whale perspective of investing like $500k or $1mill, more so the normal everyday average joe male/female investor who wants to dabble in the crypto market. Would it be $1k, $2k, $5k, $10k, $20k etc? People new to the game or interested to start investing in this space may find this useful so they know a rough number which would be a good starting point before turning  that into riches (the obvious dream).

For reference I initially started with about $3k (it’s not loads but it was a start) and over time I’ve added more and more (it gets addicting) into the pot as and when I have the money to spend and when the time seems good to buy.

it is up to you if how much you can risk your money in investment. you must research about investment of how it will work to earn a big profit .

I agree with this, don't hurry if you are asking on what good amount to invest in. This amount is a good start just like others who aren't familiar with the market yet. You may know the basics of investing what you can afford to lose. But if you are on the situation, things may change if you did actually in that part of your life where all your investments are down and the coins you are holding are bearish. $100 - $200 would be a good number for you to start, good luck!

Investing in Crypto is enough, I think this question depends on a lot of factors; The financial situation of everyone, depending on the psychology of individuals. If you are rich you invest a lot to make money quickly, you have knowledge of investment should not be shy in Crypto. Use the knowledge and analysis of market trends. Buy and hold 2 coins or more. Do not put all your money into one coin.

I guess It's like $1000-$5000 at least but if you'd like to hit the jackpot you should invest at least 10 grand for sure. Look up for a good ICO and invest before exchange. You'll make some profit  Wink Also you can still invest with around $200 . You could daily trade and learn how the market works. Do not rush and only invest what you can afford to loose. It takes time to understand and make profit in cryptocurrency. Cheers !

the optimal amount to invest is what someone can afford to lose. Of course, for those who have little experience in the crypto universe, it is preferable to limit the investment to the beginning. Then, if everything goes well over several months, you can increase your investment. Everyone's income must also be taken into account. A person earning 1k per month will not have the same investment capacity as a person earning 10k per month.

I would say something in between $5K to $10K is optinal for those who can afford it.

I think the good amount to invest just depends on you. You should do your research and make your decision according to length of the term of your investment and of course the characteristics of the coins which you want to invest in.

While i was reading your write up at the initial stage, i was thinking within myself that investing $100/$200 dollars might not work as supposed, not until i saw at the very end that you started with $3k. Notwithstanding, even if someone has just $100 to start with, it might still work out well. Just like a popular sayong that invest only what you can afford to loose. If that is what the person has to invest, then such can buy some good altcoins with high prospects, because that might not be enough to invest into some good ICOs.

Putting up any amount will do for as long as you know yourself be ready at any kind of risks. But mostly, from my brother's friends they invested $1,000 and they could get $100 weekly if they invest it in bitcoin. Isn't it a brilliant idea? If only I could have that certain amount someday. I would also invest on my own.

In fact, you can start with absolutely any amount. This is not a problem. You can start investing even with only $ 100. Of course, if you have 100,000 dollars at your disposal, this is a much more serious amount.
