Which coin do you think has the best design so far for long term success ? nothing to do with applications for the coin being developed, only the coin design itself.

Or if you could take the best parts of coins that have been coded already and combine them, which parts would you use to construct your chimera ?

All the coins, so far, have just been re-hashes amongst themselves. No need for new tools, programs, or code. How could there be any good design amongst them? Primecoin excluded.

So then you vote for Prime.

However, what i really meant was in terms of diff adjust, block reward, which seems to be working well so far. A lot of people like CGB and ANON, others say only DGC and MEGA are worth mining. Along with changing variables some are adding the odd new thing like multi algo hashing, transaction comments. The pow-pos combo coins.

What caused Elacoin to crash so hard and fast what about it's design was the main issue. The same with onecoin.

Yes, i like that one too.

I wonder why all coins don't have a transaction message? seems to make sense to have it?

I guess bitcoins original reward and diff adjust seem to be working well, however i wonder if it was released now how it would do. It just got such a great start that momentum is carrying it forward.

The coins with block reward halving every 60,000 blocks or less, do you think miners will continue with those ? only if the price rises at the same rate to keep it profitable i guess.

Primecoins reward and diff are quite interesting.

Elacoin sounded really interesting but died almost instantly.

I believe Neocoin allows for adding a transaction message.  It's also PoW as well as PoS.

PPC was a real innovation with Proof of Stake (POS).  I like YA Coin (YAC), because it combines a twist on scrypt, called scrypt-jane with POS.

Of course Florin was the first coin to implement transaction messages Smiley

Yeah that was a great idea, i think one coin before quark had done something similar.

Sadly quark is thrashed down in price and nobody uses it, which is a shame.  I think cpu only coins for now are not a good idea since a few persons are able to rape the coin leaving no interest for others. For now scrypt and sha256 seem to appeal to the asic and gpu crowd. Although the few that have the 500Gh and shortly released 2TH miners will soon have a large advantage over those with lesser powerful asic without the huge electricity difference they would have if it was gpu hashes. So for now i think scrypt is the fairest algo.  Everyone has equal chance at buying a gpu easily, not a lucky few who have enough bitcoin for first pre-orders and asic companies who take money for pre-orders and use the machines to mine for themselves for months on end before the diff rises then they ship.

So for now my opinion is scrypt (gpu) coins are the fairest coins. Sadly in terms of cost of production these are very undervalued at this point. If a decent gpu miner for quark was found that could change things for the better.

If i was producing a coin right now the only 2 things for certain i would have is scrypt algo, and transaction message.  As to which coin has the best diff adjust, block reward, block time, for fairest and successful uptake and usage of the coin... nobody knows as yet. Some coins like wdc changed their block reward since it was thought too many coins were being produced and holding the price down. So it's hard to estimate the best way to do it, bitcoin and ltc seem to be working out well but i don't think it would work so well if they were released now. Both right now are hard to 51% and even multipools can't mess with their diff enough to cause them retarget issues like ftc had.

Also some of the pow+pos coins seem to have some issues so although it can help against 51% attacks since apparently you need 51% of all coins too, it is still not for sure if pow+pos is better than just pow because of these issues. However not all pow+pos seem to suffer as badly or maybe they would but have not been hit with such huge hash fluctuations as adt.
