i thought it is fair enough to make spammer in this international forum to repent their sinful act that bring nothing into this crypto community. well, you've got the point that people tend to being selfish and not to think about other and for newbie or newcomer is kinda hard for them to rank up. well, life is hard too. keep struggling.

Isn't it so unfair for the people who is new here? That will be struggling making such as good quality post so they could be given a merit by someone. I know all of you is having a hard time thinking what are you going to post such as good quality.

It is really hard to have a merit it is because as far as I know:
People are selfish. Even though you post a really good quality post still there is a people who won't give you a merit.
Some are alone. Like me, I don't really have much friend who would give me a free merit. I know that it is easy to have a merit with a friend that have an account of bitcointalk.

My question is. Why still need merit? We are still struggling to rank because of the merit.

The change has been implemented and a new feature has been added to this forum and we should appreciate the thing instead of discussing whether it is wrong or not as we can't do anything about it now. It will help to post good topics of knowledge instead of posting anything stupid. So accept the change and be part of it.

I think merit is very fair with the merit of a lot of rank seekers who only focus on the rank to participate in bounty campaign is not able to move again and with the merit is very little to get up the rank up to legendary board administrator is also likely to limit the legendary member. so the conclusion I do not have to be afraid to not get a merit you will surely be able to get merit if your post is unique and useful.

There's nothing that has advantage that doesn't have some element of disadvantages also. The same is also true for the merit systems that has been introduced. As we known low quality post/topic will be knit in the bud with this introduction, also spamming has been drastically reduced with the merits system. In my opinion it is a good thing for the community. However more effort should be made to develop a system where the merit you get should be solely because of the quality of your post and not just a combination of the quality of your post and friends you have which can also help to increase your merit point.

Yes. I do believe we should not give up and need to keep dropping good posts and people will notice them once our posts help them. I understand the feelings of OP though regarding how people keep hoarding merit and how it is unfair to those who are just joining newly.

Nevertheless, we have to understand that this forum is not just only about making money, but to share and learn and if you can easily do that, without worrying ourselves too much about merit, we will always get it.

I would say it is fair if actually the backend/moderators delete spam post and  also create a better means for giving merit to persons when quality post are being made. It can be really frustrating for those who really need to rank up and have been making good post. The best way to control spam posts and non-quality post is by deleting them.

It will be unfair for those people who just started right now but those who already are in a high rank then they will just look down on you, merit is only bad if there are legendaries or other high rank that will take advantage of it.

Uh, I don't look down on anyone simply because they're a newbie here.  When I do, it's because a person proves themselves to be an idiot, by shitposting or scamming usually.  You people think you're being persecuted, that you're somehow purified by this persecution--and that ain't the case.

I'd also like to point out that it's the newbie population which is abusing the merit system the most.  Not legendaries.  Legendary members don't need merit points.

Look at where all my sMerits went.  I didn't give them out solely to Lauda, Vod, actmyname, Hilariousandco, TMAN, DarkStar_, Joel_Jantsen, aTriz, Yahoo62278, adroitful_one, and a handful of others that I respect around here but whose names are not coming to me immediately.  Most of them went to users I've never interacted with but whose posts I liked.  

Of course I'm only speaking for myself, but my point is that all the merit abuse I see going on involves low-ranked accounts that are most in need of merit.  Not the high-ranked members you feel you've been somehow victimized by.

You should be happy that you are alone here. If you had a friend and he gave you a merit just because of this reason, both of you might have got red trust.

It is funny to read about your discussion, today the merit is getting more and more high because people have developed very good trust about bitcoin, so they are investing very high so with time it is increasing the merit very high, those who are treating bitcoin as an asset but with gradually they will find bitcoin as high merit currency, price will be high and you will get fast profit from it, it is the need of the time to get involve crypto currency because if you will not dot this then after that you will lose the chance and your surrounded people will get more profit than you.

Merit system is boon to the bitcoin talk now.It had eliminate the account former and shit posters.You are forced to make the quality posts to get merit now.If you are failed to do so,you will on the same rank.In this forum their are lot of senior members with huge merits to share.If you had made quality posts,you will get it automatically .And you are no need to ask for the merit.Cheers.

It's not unfair. In order to keep spam posts away, merits are a necessary option. While people struggling for rank and merit, they have to follow the community rules. So there will be a fewer spammy post in threads. It makes help threads keep clean. You were talking about friends and selfish here when it comes to sMerits. Well, let's see, be my friend.  

I somehow agree with that, but I also feel the same way with the fact its somehow unfair. Cause how about for the newbies? And how can I make myself into the higher rank if I cant commit with a certain number of merit, due to the fact that most of the people here focus on their own quota and it doesnt matter if they could give somehow a merit. I do not think that. I read many topics about the exchange, buy, sell account on the forum. Maybe that is the reason. Forum administrators apply merit. They have a reason to make changes depending on the situation of the bitcointalk community. and we respect them, that means we accept the rules given. In life, there is no such thing as fair. Even here, you have to undergo the battle and be recognized through your post. Yes, merit system make it hard for every membr to rank up and its quite dissapointing especially if you are new here. You will be stucked to jr. Member if you cannot get atleats 10 merits. But merits are good because it maintain quality posts.

Why did you say that's it is unfair? We're so lucky to merits because the system makes us to be a good quality poster not spammy or just shit post. Don't talk for merit, talk for a good and constructive post and let your post speaks for merit. Merit is fairly used to every bitcointalk users. In someway there merit sources and just comply what they asked and they will send merit.

maybe yes maybe no. but it is a truth that merit system was necessary for forum. post quantity were so high and quality of posts were so low for last year. i think it will work and now quality is going to increase. people will not be able to rank up just with posting.
