Although, digital payment or cashless system is a very good initiative that should be encouraged all over the world, I do not think it will take over the world. In many nations of the world, there is still a significant percentage of people who are illiterate and do not understand how this system works.
The use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies may increase the level of usage of the digital world but even with that, cash can still not be completely eliminated.

It might sound weird but it is a matter of time before they will die and be replaced by younger generation which seems to like the idea of paying with a credit/debit card instead of having to carry a wallet with lots of bills and coins inside. It really saves your time at the checkout. The same thing will be with cryptocurrencies, some people will prefer to stick with their plastic cards whereas their children will use cryptocurrencies instead. It is natural, people get used to things that are with them for a long time.

Paper money in the future will be inconvenient to use when everything in the future already been contained with almost all the technologies. I'm sure cryptocurrencies one of the solutions for the digital currency. Cryptocurrency is also revolutionizing the economics system and offers a decentralized economics so I believe when the digital currency era begins, Cryptocurrency will take a major part in it.

Digital Money is not a Cashless Society. Cash is Money and vice versa it's just that it's being virtualized.

Ever since bank created credit and debit card to use in our daily lives in exchanging goods and services it really eases the way we transact but to a certain extent. Our daily lives now are so fast and the communication too is so easy to reach from one point to another and so payment need to cope up so I think Bitcoin was made not to destroy banks or any other payment platform though but to solve this kind of thing.

Money earned from the internet is known as digital/electronic money. People who earn money from the internet, they get paid money in electronic form by payment processors such as skrill, perfectmoney, alipay, paypal, bank-wire transfers because online workers are worldwide.

Last month, I got $20 from online surveys. The money was sent to my bank account via online payment processor. Now if I buy 2 shirts using debit cards at offline or online stores, there is no cash involved but I have 2 shirts.

Bitcoin is a part of digital money. How is digital money is your country ??
It is true that in the last decade we have seen the slow transition from the hard physical to the easy digital, not just in money but in all what we do, work entertainment order food, socializing, all thank to the wonders of the technologies our lives have and still getting better and better, but this transition has not been full yet, there are third world countries out there who still have yet to use credit cards and digital currency, there are still a good percentage of the world population who still does not fully really on digitization, but as time goes on and as the new generation starts growing up, we will get there, we will reach a point where the world becomes a big server where only digital money is used and no more physical currencies will exist.

What if Bitcoin (and blockchain tech in general) started as a social experiment (possibly by the NSA*) to acclimatize the masses to a cashless society?

* http://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/classes/6.805/articles/money/nsamint/nsamint.htm
https://www.naturalnews.com/2017-12-10-evidence-points-to-bitcoin-being-an-nsa-psyop-roll-out-one-world-digital-currency.html
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-06-12/exposed-real-creator-bitcoin-likely-nsa-one-world-currency

I know it sounds like a weird conspiracy theory, but think about it for a second...

There's one major hurdle for the Average Joe when it comes to blockchain tech: securing someone's private key. Most people are too negligent and they tend to lose/forget passwords and stuff like that (unless it's too easy to remember).

What's the solution to this problem?

Store the private key (256-bit number) into an NFC chip and inject it into your hand! Sounds familiar?

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/11/man-has-nfc-chips-injected-into-his-hands-to-store-cold-bitcoin-wallet/

Disclaimer: I'm not a religious person.

We don't know who Satoshi Nakamoto is, but we know that he was a very smart person and he made lots of successful predictions...

If you think this is a conspiracy theory, then try to remember why Steam (most famous PC digital game marketplace) succeeded: PC gamers were acclimatized to digital-only games thanks to piracy (which was condoned to a certain extent) for many years before Steam arrived.

Pls don't shoot the messenger! Smiley

Digital money is the base for the existence of cashless society, because for the growing population the traditional system it is impossible to fulfill the needs of the people. At this time we're not able to readily accept the change, over the years little by little things will change making everything digitized.

Slowly and gradually we are moving toward such society, although it will take a lot of time but we have to accept that fact, because even in current time people are not carrying money with them but using ebanking, i think that n future people will mostly start using bitcoin for buying and selling things they will never feel the need to use cash and carry it with them.

It seems that in the future we'll have various option for payment through digital currencies, whether every country make their own virtual currency or not, today we're already starting to digitalize everything, for example fintech that's universal is apple pay, and google pay.
It's also things that could drive us to cashless society for more efficiency, and the best thing is that it's eco friendly.

Honestly, most developed countries have the largest portion of their finacial transactions as cashless. Both by sheer volume of money transfered ofc but more recently also in terms of numbers of transactions. This isn't something beneficial for crypto as long as the economy is running in FIAT because people show that they are trusthing the banking system more, giving leniency to banks to loan out even bigger percentages and this way creating more (non-physical) debt based money.

Very good thinking sir, it is the result of the progress of the future tecnelogi very .

I still live somewhere away from the kerain, there I live with all the people there who are far from the state bank due to the slow progress of the country.

After me moved and worked out of town, I was offered to go shopping by my new friend while going on vacation together.

Half of the way I saw when entering a freeway, my friend took a payment card to enter the freeway.

I still do not know the usefulness of the card, and I see clearly that my friend has successfully made a digital payment transaction with the card to enter the highway.

So I know the use of the card is as a digital payment tool to enter the freeway. It's almost the same I used to be very like a person living in big city.

Everybody buys something and they pay no money, but with a debit card to make a payment transaction.

someone who pays their purchases with a credit / debit card.

Good jia cripto money can also be used like a debit card used as a means of payment.

I also think that it is very convenient, and in the future digital money and currencies, such as bitcoyne, can drive out Fiat. All this is happening, and all new and new projects offer new innovative ideas related to the payment of currencies in everyday life, with the help of new payment cards.

I think that it is a good tendency(on one hand), that world is becoming cashless; fiat money is incredibly hard to control and track.

Digital money is a great step towards a cashless society.Mostly every country nowadays is aiming to be cashless and for this governments are providing different ways.Debit cards and credit cards are now common. Many different apps are nowadays used for paying bills online. Nowadays almost every bill can be paid online whether it is a phone bill, electricity bill etc. This is just to reduce the usage of cash. Bitcoin is one of the finest digital currency of present era but still it is not legal in many countries. If in future it is declared as legal currency then it can also be good approach towards a cashless society.

There is a big difference between e-currencies and crypto currencies. OP drew attention to the fact that both types of these currencies are non-cash. But it's just a resemblance. Non-cash Fiat is regulated by the state and at any time you may lose access to it. Cryptocurrencies are yours forever. No one can deny you access to your wallet. You will agree with me this is a significant distinction.

Yeah now it is very hard to stop bitcoin to get the command and money will be harder to become use globally in future, why? Because 90% of populations use bitcoin to pay for every kinds of things, it give us money and it makes us easy to pay for everything we needs in life, now people are making transactions with help of bitcoin as it is fast and convenient in past people were have to send money as easy paisa, money order and this way of sending money was risky but now they use bitcoin which has 0% chance of mistake, so everything is gradually getting digital now and fiat money is gonna get lost soon, digital money is much better than paper money so cashless society is gonna be the next time.

You're forgetting that not all cryptos are trackable.
Fiat money on your bank account is incredibly easy to track. I know we're talking about cash, but cash also has an issuer and a number that can help identify the origin of the bills. Many bank robbers got caught because the authorities knew the SN of the notes that were stolen.
And why would you as the citizen want your money to be tracked? I like my privacy and don't want some clerks snooping around my private property.

In my country most people still pay with cash for their daily payments and only a few of them are using credit/debit cards but in last years I saw that more and more people are starting to use credit cards so we are obviously progressing. Credit cards are not heavily promoted on thethe internet and on TV and in short time we are not going to use cash anymore because it is a lot easier to just carry a card in your pocket and use it to pay for absolutely everything you want. I dont know what to say about bitcoin in this equation because thing are a bit complicated here. People are using credit card because they are very easy to use but why would they use bitcoin instead of normal money since you still get the same thing but with bitcoin is harder to pay and expensively because of the taxes.
