Here's a Windows 64bit build of the standalone cpuminer, I can confirm it does find blocks on the mainnet.
Code:
minerd --algo skein -o http://127.0.0.1:21230 -u rpcuser -p rpcpassword -t cpucores

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/204d4c0bb2ddb54422d3b07d2e5e74b024c3e186fe4b7ec4376c4c273605721b/analysis/1383625108/

https://mega.co.nz/#!2RFCCJjC!MFb7QgF7K37CqstyahsftRJ6Ajd7H64VmzeyMiGB5QA

any specifics on how to launch? more efficiently?

sign up for the pool here -

http://skc.coinmine.pl/

Extract above linked miner folder to c:\ drive (make sure your anitvirus doesnt delete the exe file within - avast did until i made the folder an exception)

create a new shortcut and paste -

C:\skeinminer64\minerd.exe --algo skein -o stratum+tcp://skc.coinmine.pl:6400 --userpass yourpoolusername.worker:yourpoolpassword

Any idea when it will be in some REAL filesharing service instead of megashit or is there some other miner that can be used?

i got errors too on ubuntuu with make.

make[2]: *** No rule to make target `sha2.c', needed by `minerd-sha2.o'.  Stop.
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

I updated the github source with a few missing files. Let me know if it works for you now.

mega does not work with Firefox. it only flashes screen and nothing happens. Maybe it tries to do something that is not allowed by normal Firefox security settings.
