Ironic that nullius' last post was on April 1st in this thread.

'Tis interesting.
I did try to bait him for a response with my *cough*alia*cough* comment, but alas, no response.  Sad

I ain't missing you, nullius
..... or am I?  Huh

If people have sent sMerits to theymos to reward him for the quality of the joke, then why not. We could argue that generally it makes zero sense to send sMerits to theymos, since he is the top sMerits creator and as such the very one in the forum who absolutely doesn't need to receive them

That's how poorly people around here think of shitposters and of the typical quality of posts in general--they'd rather give merits to someone who absolutely does not need them than to garbage shitposters.  While I certainly don't agree with that (nor would I give Theymos or Satoshi merits), I can understand the frustration involved.  It's a total waste of sMerits and there certainly are people more in need of merits who make posts good enough to earn them.

Your comments above just smack of juvenile jealousy, however.  You're both going on ignore.

+1 for the post @The Pharmacist.

All the juniors, and newbies who complain about the current system, (Which I don't really like either), could be far more productive by trying to create entertaining, informative, or otherwise valuable content, instead of whining about "why wasn't my post chosen?".

We don't need more posts, here. We need more quality posts.

To the guys complaining about nobody sending merit: I send merit.
When I have it, and see people with posts that deserve it.
But I'll never send to someone who whines in comment sections about how they are so much more worthy than someone else who did get merit.

You want merit? Go write something meritable.
Rank is a privilege, not a right. You have to earn it.

I am doing the same thing just put every beggar and authors of sophisticated scam (posts written only to get merits) on ignore. I have to add that this feature is great and should be widely used especially in merit era to avoid losing time on shitposters and pure spammers. In my first 4 years on BTT I have not ignored anybody and in last 4 months, 70 people deserved this privilege. I don't know how much more members I will have to ignore until the time spent reading this forum will be so valuable as a few years ago.

Shitposters should be ignore by all members in the forum before they change the way they spread information (threads) in the forum.
I don't support the idea to put users to Ignore list immediately to see their shits.
The reason is sometime, good users (pariticularly newcomers) can unintentionally post shit threads because they are lack of knowledge, experience. They should have chance to improve. If uses put them in Ignore list, they might miss the opportunity to see evolved shitposters (gradually become more constructive, more knowledgeable over time).
That's how poorly people around here think of shitposters and of the typical quality of posts in general--they'd rather give merits to someone who absolutely does not need them than to garbage shitposters.  While I certainly don't agree with that (nor would I give Theymos or Satoshi merits), I can understand the frustration involved.

sMerit should be rewarded to only deserved members in the forum (constructive ones).
It's a total waste of sMerits and there certainly are people more in need of merits who make posts good enough to earn them.

Oh wow, this was an April fools joke. Completely unexpected, since it involved modifying the code for the whole forum.  Cheesy

I'm glad it was an April fools, because it was just too complicated.

This is a joke thread but the moderator accumulated tons of merits. I wonder the ones that gave away
merits were aware this is was a joke. If not this post is a kind of scam i reckon.
If they were aware then everyone is happy, well done job.

Most of the members who have merits to give are old members and thus we can assume that most of them were aware of this. It was not hard to grasps that this is a joke only. Some people had doubts because it involved changing the codes and also it followed the merit system which made it look real.

Even if some people gave it thinking that the change is implemented, what is wrong with that ? It is good if the merit system is improved further to fix loopholes.

That's true, its now hard to rank up right now because of merit even if we post constructive post as we can, and even if we already do everything just for us to have merited. The last time I saw a lot of status with our accounts is just an April fool. It happens exactly April 1, if I am not mistaken. Maybe that is the way for the moderators to go with the flow events.

Just thinking; isn't it high time a moderator lock this thread? We should seriously stop posting on this thread. We have past the middle of the month and looking at the day the topic was created, it was an 'April fool joke' and it happens only on the first day of April. it has served it's purpose. Some of us are asking what's fmerits  Huh Jeez, this whole thing was a joke at least look at the topic.
I guess writing this makes me part of those draining the thread too Lips sealed

Could be a test of Reading comprehension?  As we can see, the title of the thread has been changed, including the descriptive phrase, "April fools", and also the first line of the OP says:  "This is an april fools joke."

Reminds me of a little recent personal situation that sometimes we can run into issues, when we skim, and we do not read carefully.  Recently someone contacted me by text for the purpose to buy bitcoins, and I misread the text and I considered it as a kind of scammer because of how I misread the parameters, so I provided a bit of a quip response that was meant to shut down the discussion.  Then the person sent me another text saying "but I am cute" which caused me to respond again but then I noticed my earlier mistake...

Anyhow, the conversation ended up going on a bit longer than I wanted, in part due to my mistaken read, and the person still ended up being a likely scammer, but for reasons that were different than I had originally mistakenly considered.  My point is that there can be some value in attempting to practice reading comprehensive, and the OP and title of any thread are decent starting points for forum participation.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

I'm thinking the same thing--people here don't read anything, but it's not just a matter of skimming and not reading thoroughly (which I'm guilty of ever since I got a smartphone).  People don't read on bitcointalk, because they're not paid to do so and most of them don't have a genuine interest in bitcoin anyway.

This guy's attention was obviously piqued by the mention of merit, which I'm sure he's well aware of, as it's the only thing standing in his way of ranking up and thereby earning more from whatever bounty he's going to participate in.  I would bet money on the fact that he wouldn't normally care about what's posted in Meta, which is a section that was usually devoid of spammers before merits were introduced.
