This is a funny question though but I will put in my own view to it. I believe it's more better to invest in altcoin than what you thought in your head. To me that's the best place to invest and have your money grow than investing in BTC . My thought though

Altcoins were always risky. Even when the prices were increasing by 5% or 10% per day, they were considered as extremely risky assets to invest in. And with current market conditions, they have become even more riskier.

it's no longer the game of buy low sell high but a ranging market where risky people will be able to survive while weak holders will be eaten alive, knowing your boundaries and learning how to deal with fluctuations are very important when you are investing with crypto,as everything is always possible to happen, prepare yourself and decide smartly.

Good alt coins like ETH are not that much risky. But if you start gambling with very new coins for higher reward, you can be in problem.

Yes and No both , because it all depends upon the investors that in which thing he is investing his money , for exmaple if the investor will invest his money in the stupid and worst altcoins that have no market then surely there is big changes that he will remain in dump for long term , but if will invest in that coin which has better potential in the cryptocurrency market then he can make better earnings in the future .
Here you are saying that who invested in altcoins are crying now , here a big problem that we can see is that they bought at high which is a not a right descion by them , if they can make Investment and withdrawal of Thier investment at perfect timing then they can make big earnings but surely if they will buy assets within seeing the reality and they will go with hype to buy blindly then that may be result into loss .

From my point of view, if it all depends on what altcoin you choose to invest. But Ethereum is an excellent choice for investing. You can buy at a cheaper price. You might think it's quite risky. Or it could be an opportunity to take it because it can go up fast or slow. Hope you can get it all.

The crypto world now is very risky because the scam group entered our world. It's very risky because you might face an ICO that's very interesting but it has a fake agenda. Must invest in an ICO that's really famous and have a professional movement.

The fact an ico is famous is not going to protect you from being scammed, in fact many famous projects were scams, one of the most famous was BitConnect many people from the beginning warned that it was a scam but people did not want to hear it because they were getting profits out of the project, but now see its price and the volume and you will realize that anyone that was still invested in that coin lost everything they invested.
