Most of the time we're using ethereum for the gas up of your erc20 tokens being sent to the trading site which you're going to trade your tokens. Like with IDEX you'll going to have enough amount of eth transaction fee in order for you to trade your coins listed on their site. All of those contracts based on ethereum nowadays were into an eth transaction gas like the gas which you're having in your myetherwallet. Without that you won't be able to transact your coins because of a gas amount as per requirement of etherscan charges.

I currently only use ETH for ICO participation, and I think the vast majority of holders are the same. I'm curious to see what will happen to the ETH markets when some of the other platforms are fully ready to support ICOs. Hopefully there is enough room in the ecosystem for all!
