It wasnt a Typo!!

They must have purchased all of those coins off the exchanges then.  The price went down yesterday in spite of that huge of a purchase.

I think almost all their purchases are off the exchanges.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

5870 BTC bought.

Biggest recorded buy yet (unless they've made a typo, they've made one before).

And second market is inaccessible to most people, when the twin's ETF goes live that is when bitcoin doubters will see what happens when demand meets fixed supply.

Their attorney said last week (don't have the link) that it might be 2015 before the etf goes live, alas.

Huge is relative to 3600 coins mined per day.  Smiley

Wall Street and other still have a lot more front running to do before bringing bitcoin to the masses. Just like with Facebook where they were able to buy share 5 years before the public.

At least with bitcoin for once those willing to do things themselves can front run wall street for once.

Nice. One could rephrase it as a riddle: "What happens when a fixed monetary supply meets unstoppable demand?"

Great point, although I don't think it is Wall Street blocking this one, but Washington. As you say, the good thing is that you don't need Wall Street to buy in.

Not enough to stamp the tide.  Until people realize gox is completely irrelevant, they'll serve as a cap on the prices.

No, there is just a group of us that make up these #s daily, depending on how we are feeling and what the general consensus is.  We felt since the market was going down, it would be good to show large #s the last few days. Wink

I'm glad you asked as I have been wondering the same thing myself. The OP edits the thread almost everyday to update it, but I am not sure where he gets the info. Perhaps if you are client you have access to that info?

Well. Very timely. Lets assume Gox manages to open transfers again early in the week, whose arms do you think the large ladies will run towards? What conversations are being had right now? What mutually satisfactory terms are being negotiated as we speak?

What about people selling XBT?  I'm sure there have been at least some people pulling out.  You should report that as well, if possible.
