Hi guys, this just bother me long time ago, and just popped up recently..

What is the purpose of token?

I can not figure it out because I have one token before and I did not know how to use it and I can not even transfer it to bitcoin. I am just wondering why people keep inventing and creating so much token at all.
I hope I can get POSITIVE response and not some hates and negative one.

Token that we get in different bounty campaigns may help us to gain or make money. For example if the bounty campaign has already done or finish you will be given a reward of tokens that you may exchange so that you may have money.

Depends on the project, there are mainly two types of coins:

-security token: it acts somewhat like a regular bond, investors might even get shares and profit comes from the performance of the company

-utility token: it has a more real-life purpose, for example crypto casinos, where you use the tokens to play black jack etc.

Generally, tokens have the following characteristics:
1. They have the purchasing power - you can buy services using tokens;
2. They act as a currency in a closed ecosystem;
3. They can be an indicator of the holder’s share in a certain “enterprise”;
4. They are a form of reward for some actions.

If you cannot sell your tokens, this means that the related project is of no interest to other investors and is probably a scam.

Like stock exchanges companies issue shares to public,  In blockchain world companies issue token to investors.  Investors invest for the hope of rise in price after the ico.
Tokens can be sell on exchanges and can be converted into BTC.

A token is supposed to have a very unique function. But the whole thing has now changed. We keep on seeing tokens everyday without a purpose.

The purpose of creating tokens is as a domestic currency to pay for their goods and services in the blokchain system.
Allows someone to invest money into projects with high liquidity. Tokens can be used, as a tool for financial transactions, with a guarantee of a fixed interest rate, with a return for a certain period. I think ICO's it's all about making project increase the interest of it, but some companies have idea to raise funds and stop explicate the ICO and scam their invesotrs

The reason for creation of all these tokens and coins is that people are creating projects and those tokens are linked with that project.  This is for the good projects.

The purpose of token is depend on the ico on how they use the token. Because some ico use token to pay thier bills. Some are just an hype to give return to thier investor

I used to use Token and Coin interchangably, they also have tokens for sale that customers can use in their games and tokens are like arcade tokens used on websites to play around. Perhaps you could receive Amazon tokens based on purchase levels, giving you tokens to redeem on their website. Perhaps, a gambling website could allow users to buy tokens to play around on their website as well. Those are tokens. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is like Gold.

It's like a stock type. If your token is in the MEW wallet, you need to find the contract's address and its symbol to add it to your data. When successful, you can transfer the token to a trading platform and start trading to Bitcoin.
