It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

They are both attacking different parts of the market. So I would disagree.

This is definitely a good observation but I would advise you to keep in mind the world is rarely that black and white.  The sets of functionality each posses are not disjoint!

They attack different parts of the market AND they attack some of the same parts.  This makes them compete AND not compete.

Keep in mind dialectics.

They are both attacking different parts of the market. So I would disagree.

Ideally that should have been the case. Both the currencies were designed for different purposes, and therefore there should not be much competition between them. But the problem is that nowadays all the cryptos are mostly used for investment purposes and this puts them against each other.

I don’t see Etherium as a threat to Bitcoin however I do think it is possible that Etherium could pass Bitcoin in market cap.

The reason I don’t consider this as a threat is that I believe that these two coins have different uses. I see Bitcoin admire if a store of value like digital gold. I see Etherium as more of a platform for tokens. I think they will both exist together.

Mainstream businesses are beginning to embrace Ethereum technology with banks and other entities using Ethereum-led solutions for things such as payment services. The biggest threat to Bitcoin remains Bitcoin itself, with the continuing creep of government regulation and the ongoing tag of financial crime driving market behaviours.

Ethereum and bitcoin is both good investment and I think after few years maybe it will increase very high the price. So better to buy mpre ethereum and bitcoin now and hold it for few years and you will earn a lot of profit. But I think ethereum is threat for bitcoin because we know as of now they have a lot of new project are base to ethereum or erc20 and that's good to increase the price.

While Ether is clearly a competitor to Bitcoin, bearing in mind that the combined market capitalization of both is way south of the market capitalization of some of the world’s biggest companies, there is room for both. Ether has the advantage of being associated with Ethereum, and Ethereum does what Bitcoin cannot do, and came to be because of the limitations and single function of Bitcoin.

Mainstream businesses are beginning to embrace Ethereum technology with banks and other entities using Ethereum-led solutions for things such as payment services. The biggest threat to Bitcoin remains Bitcoin itself, with the continuing creep of government regulation and the ongoing tag of financial crime driving market behaviors.

I think bitcoin and ethereum is two difference thing. The best crypto is both. The Bitcoin is father of coin and ETH is mother of token. I like both. ETH a threat to bitcoin. maybe , in the future. lets see. every thing is possible.

I don't see it that ethereum is a threat to bitcoin, it's not a competition and not comparable.
Bitcoin is the most powerful and popular in the crypto world because of he's potential and the huge value than ethereum. King is always be the king.

It's a threat in the sense that I think ETH is very likely to overtake BTC in the future.

Maybe but I still see ETH overtaking BTC as the number one coin, at least in terms of value.

Bitcoin is the personification of the strength of the crypto-currency market, he is like the father of the family. But I hope that in the near future it will be replaced by a new crypto currency, the Etherium, since it has better potential than the father.

Great analogy and correct in the sense that ETH could dethrone BTC in 2 years time as BTC will reach its limits while Lebron will be on its 17th or 18th season where its no longer possible to stay as king.

All thing considered ETH has better tech so I certainly think it's doable. Will see in the future.

there is no denying it, ETH is getting bigger everyday but BTC is just so much that i can't be defeated by it. its supply is getting lesser and BTC can be rarer which is why its price is going to stronger and i guess the prediction of it being more than 100K is going to be possible in the future.  BTC and ETH however can work side by side so it doesn't have to compete each other as they are different.

Some people really think that ethereum can be a threat to bitcoin, but it isn't an appropriate idea accusing with a scenario which never happens. Although most of the ethereum's platforms of new upcoming coins were an erc20 it doesn't mean bitcoin can be pulled down by these reasons. In fact eth is a strong partner of bitcoin that made the entire cryptocurrency grow for so long years and those were trading altcoins definitely gained their confidence especially holding those slow pumping coins.
