i dont see any threat of ethereum to bitcoin. they are different, even though they are both valuable but bitcoin is really something than ethereum. bitcoin is the main crypto, and ethereum is just an altcoin.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Ethereum is no way near a threat to bitcoin they are bith coins/tokens with complety different purposes. So bitcoin wants to be an currency to pay for goods and services and ethereum is more like an platform
ETH is no doubt one of the best coin in the world of crypto currencies but when it comes to that of making a comparison of ETH with that of the bitcoin, then I don’t think so that there is any match in between both the coins as bitcoin is far ahead of ETH and that ETH cannot compete with bitcoin in any way. Bitcoin is and will always remain the backbone of the entire crypto world.

Ethereum is a threat to bitcoin? Yes it is. We all know that ethereum was created by a russian programmer on 2013, and it was launched on 2015. After 3 years it is next to bitcoin in terms of popularity and value.

Let me show you some NBA perspective on this, bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency right? same as LeBron as the king of NBA. But here comes ethereum the prince of cryptocurrency just like Ben Simmons as the prince of the NBA. The prince will dethrone the king on the eastern conference finals same as ethereum that will dethrone bitcoin in the next couple of years. Wether we like it or not the king will reach its limit. Mark my word. Trust the ethereum process!

if bitcoin not developing anymore, the threats of bitcoin will be not only ETH but another good altcoins too.
Ethereum just the first coin below bitcoin. Ethereum has smart contract, which is the advance features that overcome bitcoin.

Personally, I can not say that Ethereum is a threat to bitcoin because they have different purposes and uses. Although both are crypto, they work differently. But maybe because Bitcoin is still down and the price of EThereum is on the rise because a few weeks ago the growth of Ethereum was very fast and for threats could also happen because bitcoin is still fluctuating.

I do not give what you say is true. Because the first and the last things will never be replaced if the new one is better than Bitcoin then that will happen. but just if.

The OP needs to change his statement by a little bit. Rather than "Ethereum a threat to bitcoin", it should be "Ethereum was a threat to bitcoin". And it never will be "Ethereum is a threat to bitcoin". ETH was threatening to overtake Bitcoin until mid-2017, but it lost steam soon after that. Now it is the turn of the other altcoins.

Firstly, Vitalik Buterin's parents emigrated to Canada when he was six years old, so calling him Russian-Canadian would be more accurate. And stating that "ethereum was created by a russian programmer" is totally misleading because Buterin first described Ethereum in a white paper in late 2013, 13 years later after moving to Canada. I'm not insisting that he is Canadian, no. I'm just saying that calling him "a Russian programmer" is misleading, especially considering that he attended a private school in Toronto and the University of Waterloo after that. I think that any form of nationalism is old-fashioned, if putting it mildly, and I'm glad that Vitalik Buterin himself, thinks the same:

Quote
I believe that we are fast entering a world where citizenship is nothing more than an arbitrary label

Source: https://www.ccn.com/vitalik-buterin-conducts-ama-re-ethereum/

Back on topic. No, Ethereum is not a threat to Bitcoin. It is the second best crypto and it will stay that way.

I guess people are entitled to their opinion; it is just that when they give their reasons, it is just some reasons that will make you want to puke just like the one that the OP has given. NBA is a different world from the crypto world and even though we do not know what the future holds, I guess the OP should be more concerned on how Ethereum itself can be displaced by the likes of NEO and co, rather than coming up with some flimsy reasons why Ethereum will be displacing bitcoin as that is completely a baseless assumption.

I think not for now but maybe in the near future since ETH has the edge like the ability to provide operating system for the next generation of a decentralized internet. ETH  in the past year had grown higher percentage which is around 4,000% than that of bitcoin which is only 600%. This data shows how ETH has been a fast growing altcoin in the crypto market.

I think Bitcoin will be a long time to reach its limit. Ethereum is without a doubt a promising project that is developing every year more and more, but Bitcoin even reaching its limit can become an absolutely stable cryptocurrency.

While Ethereum strongly depends on bitcoin. Usually, if bitcoin falls, then all the altcoins, including Ethereum, fall behind it. I do not think that in the near future something will change.

Nice try but that is not the case. Ethereum now greatly depends on bitcoin for its price and value in the market which is what makes bitcoin superior to ethereum at this point. Ethereum is a good coin with a lot of prospects but for now it is not even a threat to bitcoin and if anything at all , it would take ethereum years to catch up with bitcoin and that too would be a tremendous achievement if it happens.

Agree, that won't last forever. As long as cryptomarket is controlled by natural market laws of demand and offering, ETH can be a "threat" to Bitcoin only in case people want to buy it more and see as more valuable and applicable asset. If this happens, no one can stop it and you shouldn't be sad about that

Ethereum poses a threat to Bitcoin due to the decline in the number of transactions made using Bitcoin, so it is no longer efficient in terms of business to keep Bitcoin payments open. Following the rising prices of Bitcoin and the growing popularity of Bitcoin around the world.

Ethereum is a threat to bitcoin because the supply of eth coins today is still continuously producing while bitcoins might go out soon, in that case prices of bitcoins might increase or decrease depending on the investors.

I agree with your opinion that Ethereum has become a very popular topic of discussion for being a token base on Altcoin because of the various projects that rely on Ethereum payments so Ethereum is a favorite token for bounty hunters. And if I find Ethereum so difficult to be above Bitcoin on Cryptocurrency because Bitcoin is already the top of all coins or tokens.

what you say is true, but you should also know that the prince will not easily shift his king, even if it can take a very long time or wait for the king to die.
it would not be easy to bypass what other bitcoin shifts the bitcoin, but in terms of competition ethereum is one of the toughest rivals of bitcoin. we will see ethereum can enter bitcoin.

Ethereum and Bitcoin are two different coins. Of the two coins, it has a different allocation for crypto. The community uses bitcoin as their investment place, both short and long-term. While ethereum is more inclined to be used on the platform. For example, from the various ICOs created, on average they use ethereum as a platform for their tokens.
The communities that join here, the initial reason they must be because of the bitcoin, and they want to have bitcoin. But because bitcoin prices are expensive, many of them start their investment with ethereum. Bitcoin plays a major role in the popularity of crypto in the world, and bitcoin has full power over altcoins. So it will be very difficult ethereum beat bitcoin.
