Guys, something weird happened!
Either I screwed up big or maybe it's some bug?
I've sent today 14699 NXT to a customer in response for his withdrawal request, but money went into another account #434692873790144579 (tx 4799337629054063359).
So are there any checks for validity of addresses or can it be absolutely any number?
Anybody owns this account by any chance?
This account hasn't been opened edit:hasn't spent any funds since the deposit and this post as there is no public key associated with it: http://localhost:7874/nxt?requestType=getAccountPublicKey&account=434692873790144579returns NIL: {}

Could you clarify it? I haven't had a chance to dig deep into Nxt internals yet... There's another thing just happened - somebody requested withdrawal and I started sending it, and as soon as I clicked "send", the screen started flooding with what seemed like repeated previous transactions and my balance instantly dropped by 2000. And I also noticed like "1100 unconfirmed transactions" in the bottom window. I immediately locked the account and disconnected. Java process freezed and didn't respond to Ctrl-C. Now looking at block explorer - it seems nothing happened. My client is the same as the clean one. But now I am scared as hell to open the client again. If this is so buggy, how can we work with real money yet??? It should have been test net all along!

AN OPEN MESSAGE TO EPIC THOMAS:
Oh, man, don't make me do this to you. You and I could be good friends. You are trying so hard to stay on the right side of the line. Times are rough for you and you have had a crappy 2013 and a crappy Christmas and yet despite your occasional flare of cynicism you also have great optimism and hope inside you. I understand how the temptation was hard to resist for you to go after those NXT like you did. But you come from a great family who loves you and you deeply admire superheroes and you've got a wonderful girlfriend and you're working so hard to get credentials to rise above these crappy jobs you bounce around between like a pinball.
DO NOT LOSE WHAT YOU HAVE. YOU CAN USE IT TO ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS IN 2014.
Very soon now you and I are going to step it up here to the next level and go the next few rounds toe to toe. Do not take this personally. This is just business. I want very much for NXT to succeed and I will act to protect its fragile reputation. I do not want to hurt you. But if you do not return the NXT you have taken, you are going to lose the respect of your family who loves you (both young and old), you are going to hurt and be torn away from the girlfriend you love, you are going to lose your job, you are going to get kicked out of school and lose your ability to climb the ladder of success whose bottom runs you have achieved, and you are going to be in trouble with the law.
Do not make me do this to you.
The road back starts with making contact with me either in these forums or by personal message. You may very well not be able to return those NXT but if that is so then I am sure you know who can. You need to either convince them to return the NXT or tell me their name and let me at them. Do not go down solo in an attempt to protect them. It will not work and it is not worth it.
The NXT in the bandit accounts are of no use to you. You cannot cash them. Do not hurt others by abandoning that NXT and keeping it from the others that have a dream just like you do. That will only hurt innocent people that do not deserve it. Return those NXT to their rightful owners. That is what Superman would do. That is what Batman would do. That is what the good Doctor Who would do.
It is almost midnight UTC (Thursday night - Friday Morning) as I write this. I am going to give you 24 more hours to return the NXT or convince somebody else to do so. If the NXT is not transferred back by this time tomorrow, I am going to start making some phone calls. They will not initially be to the police. If I cannot convince you to do the right thing, I am going to give some other people who care about you a chance to do so. If you don't listen to them, I will call your employer. When you no longer have a job, I will call your school and get you kicked out of that. Then I will call the police. We will be at that point about this time next week.
Do not let this situation go that far. End this the right way. You know how. You can do it.
That's it, I've had my say. If you do not contact me via PM or re-enter the forums here with a cooperative spirit in the next 24 hours, then I have only one thing left to say to you:
Goodbye.

So are there any checks for validity of addresses or can it be absolutely any number? Anybody owns this account by any chance? The weird thing is I am very careful and I do copy-paste from the form that my backend shows me. I have no idea where this erroneous number could appear from, because there are no users with such number in my database. There are no passwords, or accounts with that number which I could have accidentally copied. All my passwords and phrases are alphanumeric. My client is 0.4.8 and has correct hash (I checked after reports today). So how could this happen??? If it was a mistake, I guess there is no chance to find a key for this account? Still, I absolutely can't understand, how, during a simple copy-paste, this could have happened... The same happened to me twice, also on nextcoin.org forum few people also reported about this. What can i say? Nothing good.

Nice vid! Wideo makes making videos like that very easy, and the more we have, the better. I say that semi-facetiously, since I've spent hours working on the wiki and forums this week, and would love to see even a small fraction of the 200K+ in donations Petrik got for this work. I linked Petrik's video to the wiki. UPDATE: Someone just dropped me 50K Nxt. Really, really generous. I'm going to turn around, though, and divvy it up between myself and a few other folks who have been working hard this week -- opticalcarrier, drexme, and pinarello. Gonna spread the love, but thanks for sharing it, whoever you are. Thank you, currently I am working on "NXT mining" video, I hope it will look much better here in the Gdoc I shared on nextcoin.org I can now see: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=1Video makers:salsacz pinarello allwelder leonardosegura Translators:mcjavar german, hungarian kevinkms chnese salsacz czech pinarello dutch Sondreviking norvegian allwelder chinese pufis Lithuanian DSoft German Osman24 Turkish Tadas Lithuanian ATpr Russian or Ukrainian BaiMangal Bulgarian mactrance Dutch nxtDigger Polish Jls. french redtux french LeFiste german vodkaaa german Graphics: LeFiste mr001 Tobre Screenwriter=== If we combine these people and maybe add some english corrector, we could provide cool videos that would also be translated into many languages... Added myself to the list of Dutch translators. So far I've translated optical's article and added it to the official forums. I could do some editing on the English communication as well if need be. Are these all bitcointalk usernames? Also, could this list please be recompiled with links to the associated work that's been done beside each item and a source to verify that each of these individuals are the ones who completed the tasks? Much appreciation to whoever does this Mr professorhandsome, now they are (as I wrote about update in previous page - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4278949#msg4278949)

is the real name of EpicThomas already known? I suggest, that he returns twice the NXT he stole within a week. otherwise the police hitmen should take over.
bahah if he's a relative nobody that'd cost very little, less than the $ amount he stole. but meh Highly doubt any law enforcement agency will give one fuck about this, even if it was 1mil usd. So any retribution will be via darknet tbh &&& Any one have the link to the script / instructions one guy posted here to create a vanity address?

What is the maximum number of characters for an Nxt passphrase? C'mon dudes, drop a number on me. I want to max this out. I've done probably 130-170ish characters I heard the client may restrict it to 100 which is kinda sad If you're copy/pasting (obv.) take off word wrap

Is anyone going to use Arbitrary Messages within next 2 weeks? It seems to me that without a client that supports this feature we don't need AM.
I realy do respect your work sir, but without a client you better stop loosing your time here. No one will bother using API strings etc... no client = no product. and yes eMunie is a finished product that will blow all your efforts away just becaus you will always be second! Yesterday you said: Hi As an professional investor I am looking to throw 7 figures into crypto, did months on research and came to the conclusion that NXT is the best way to go. NXT has all advantage of being the first and does have more features than eMunie, og. that name alone , the major thing about emunie as they sell themselves as decentralized but the creator is running it like a tyrannical dictator , there is a whole construction setup around him but he has the last word in all decisions. Also they can “print” eMunie when they decide to. But hey everyone should look for these things by themselves just telling, yours eMule
Now you are bashing Nxt all day long. Are you well?

there is no public key associated with it:
Could you clarify it? I haven't had a chance to dig deep into Nxt internals yet... I haven't looked at the NXT source code yet, but from what I understand a private/public key pair isn't assigned to an account until it is opened for the first time already containing a balance >= 1 edit:at least 1 NXT is spent. Until then, it is unclaimed. A live account will have a public key associated with it. Edit: actually, it's a little more involved than that. See this post by opticalcarrier: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4281991#msg4281991There's another thing just happened - somebody requested withdrawal and I started sending it, and as soon as I clicked "send", the screen started flooding with what seemed like repeated previous transactions and my balance instantly dropped by 2000.
I don't know what happened. But someone more knowledgeable than me in Java should write a test harness to search for a race condition in sending funds. That's where I would look.
