dgex problems again...
DGEX is a disaster. They never sent me my approx 1,200 NXT, i emailed them 2+ weeks ago, they replied 1 week later to the effect of "we trust your issue has been resolved". I emailed them back and said it has not, and no reply. Just stole my BTC. I agree they also cancelled possibility to withdraw NXT for free - I ask why 1,4% its worse than banking fees!!! even Bank America has lower fees. And especially from somebody who apparently came in into NXT from the beginning who don't have to solve financial problems for the rest of his life well OK, its his offer we don't have to visit Dgex, but don't you think that 1,4% withdrawal fee is very high?? It is. Nxt withdrawal should be free! Graviton!DGEX Fees starting from 2013-11-28 applicable for now NXT BUY and SELL: 0% NXT deposits: 0% BTC deposits: 0% NXT cashouts: 1.4% BTC cashouts: 1.4% to 3.2% (instant) min. 0.0005 BTC have you ever seen it? 3.2% fee for BTC Is it a joke? besides all this now the Dgex is down.... They should charge transaction fee but having withdrawal free. The way it is structured now people would have an incentive to leave the money in the exchange to trade around. It is good for the business but not good for customers. I don't like it but I suppose that competitors would pop up pretty soon.

one question. You dont always have to have the newest version installed to be keep your nxt right?
does someone know? Also: can I save my nxt by copying the nxt folder onto an usb stick? your nxt will be stored in blockchain. you can store your pass-phrase on usb stick to save your nxt. (better would be in a password manager like keepass2) the passphrase is the key to everything! Ok. So I could erase the whole client folder and not safe anything exept the password and come back in half a year (if nxt still exists), download the new software and have my next again 8and receive and send them)? That is different to other coins like bitcoin right where saving the folder of the client is a must?

You weren't acknowledge because we are in the biggest thread of this subforum. There is 600+ page. It's hard to spend time on each post. So valuable opinion are diluted. But now we know a bit more of you, i think people will spend more time reading your post. It's weird because I was just having a loose conversation via PM with jl777, about how I felt under-thanked by the community, on my discovery of the flawed client floating around.. not reward.. just like "hey thanks man" Actually I don't remember one person saying it. (not speaking about Gbeirn's awesome donations in anyway from his own personal NXT) And he's leaving because of being under-valued (sucks to hear that) Anyways, He clearly is passionate about NXT and I hope his ideas aren't lost.

It's interesting how there are all those checks for amount to be > 0, fee > 0, for proper dead line, yet zero checks for the validity of address, the most important part. Yeah, let's just convert whatever user sent to BigInt, screw him. -- No, no matter how you put it, this is ridiculous. So you are aiming to replace bitcoin and handle at least its market cap of 10 billion dollars, handle 30000 tps and yet do no checksums, when even your grandmother's CD has them to play its music? And the cost of error is losing your money forever? Pardon my language, but I admire the size of your balls, gentlemen

That is different to other coins like bitcoin right where saving the folder of the client is a must? That is wrong. To preserve bitcoins, you have to save the public and private key (and for the non nerds: save your wallet.dat). With NXT, you only save the private key (=your passphrase, which must be different to every other NXT password in the universe)

My problem is that my "vacation" is ending and I have to go back to work. As it is I have neglected a few things and they have created a bit of a mess.
I have identified easy to implement solutions to many problems, but none of them are even acknowledged. Maybe people think I am some marketing dweeb, but I have written a C compiler from scratch, realtime forex trading systems, firmware for devices, etc. I am primarily a programmer, but I can also relate to the non-technical user.
Since NXT has tons of programmers, many probably even better than me, there wasn't much point in my contributing that way, so I found the BIG GIANT GAPING HOLE in NXT that I could fix.
aldrin has been the only founder who sees value in what I do and was willing to back it up.
I was ready to sacrifice my life savings and all other business opportunities to concentrate on NXT. I don't lightly do that since my services are in pretty good demand. I just can't afford to continue investing the time that I have without getting some sort of upside. I have of course purchased the NXT I can afford, but even if I don't do anything I would have that NXT. I am talking about 100% of my time.
It seems that isn't worth setting aside the NXT for me to purchase at a later date. That is what I asked for. Not an outright grant of NXT. Founders need to sell NXT, I wanted to purchase at around double current market price. I just needed time to come up with the funds. Basically structured as incentive stock options, which are standard fare for compensation packages for someone doing the work that I was doing.
I did my two week audition, I guess I failed.
James

Could someone explain why it is intentionally being released with 3 security flaws?
To avoid confusion regarding the 3 security flaws, I remember CfB wrote something like: they are intentionally introduced in the source code that will be released, but the flawed source code will only be distributed as source and will not be used to contruct binaries. Jean-Luc, please confirm (again)? What doesn't mean there couldn't be other bugs in relaesed binaries. But that's why we're all testing and using the forum to report those, no? 10 hours to release right EDIT: oops, my clock was 12 hours off, but at least I got the 2014 right In the mean time, keep up the good work

Just saw dgex was down I think that makes https://peercover.com/#/simpleGateway the only place to trade NXT. Based on my urging the guys at peercover worked through the holidays to make a NXT trade page. It is built on ripple and so no centralized server. So far there is very little volume on ripple. I had asked the founders to create some inventory, but nobody did. I don't have enough NXT to make a deep market, but since it is the only place to trade NXT now, maybe more people will use it? James P.S. I will still post when I can

Why a percentage? I'm sure there must be a way to work with a fixed fee.

P.S. peercover no fees for deposit, withdrawal (automatic) or trade. Model is to cover costs from forging
