There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I'm a little confused, wouldn't this rally be a self fulfilling prophecy? Everyone who has BTC wants the price to go up so what kind of people would do the opposite?

I made about a bitquarter on a small deposit at icbit.se about a month ago. I was long, but you can short too. Market is thin though and withdrawals can take a day or two. Manual (by the site operator) withdrawals are safer, but slow. |
