chinese exchanges dont have quarkcoin listed yet, and taking into account that it went to fifth place on market cap without their involvment. we can safely assume that quark will be rising faster than any other coin once chinese get their chance to molest it while the price is only at $0.2. there are rumors that btce and btc38 are to implement it very soon.

This would be an interesting development for sure!

Makes me wonder if there will be a Chinese coin which could take the #2 coin spot in a very short time.

Quark is traded on BTER. BTER = Chinese exchange

Not sure where OP came up with his list for the poll, but not very comprehensive when you have omitted a number of top 25 market cap coins.

See not much people vote for primecoin...what is the reason?

Peercoin is not truly a completely decentralized currency. I suppose people are not liking that too much :S
I still think it has a lot of potential
Am i mistaking or peercoin and primecoin are different coins? Huh

That was totally my bad... I should learn how to read (thought that gondel said "Peercoin" in his post).

It seems like Quark is developing a following. Can someone give me a rational explanation of why? Is it the name? Is it the Keiser/ Bill Still following? I am just not understanding why it would beat out Worldcoin or Digitalcoin.

1) One of the best security
2) Better distribution than most (QRK audit is still going on by community... check here: http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/368/auditing-block-chain -> 30% of coins in ~30 wallets, that is actually very nice)
3) Nice amount of coins (you can buy everyday items with reasonable numbers, when coin matures)
4) Support of Bill / Keiser (this IS important, can't get around this)
5) Small inflation coded in (coin that is mined out dies, small inflation means more stable)
6) Very active community -> best reason

Mega coin hands down.

Already had 1000% growth from $0.015 a month ago to $1.50 + now, only been around for 5 months.

The Chinese seem to love them.

From number twenty to number 5-6 in market cap in a couple of weeks.

A great development team, the best website and LOTS of new developments in the pipeline...

I have quark, mega stable and a bunch of coins.... megacoin is by far the one that has produced the best results and has the best wallet and developers...

Get into them while they are still less than $5 each...
 Grin

edit: Forgot to mention the website is now in 15 languages and social media pages in several languages too which is sure to help the growth as well.

What is the maximum amount of Quark that can be created? What is the best way to mine it?

The fact that is has been #3 for for this long and this much of a margin shows how much faith people have in Sunny King. He will remove the checkpointing, he just didn't want it attacked while young like FTC was.

What is the maximum amount of Quark that can be created? What is the best way to mine it?

It is 1 million extra Quarks every year... so in theory in 1000 years there will be 1000 million more Quarks. But the idea is, that not all Quarks survive and the actual number will remain roughly the same or slightly more. This means that miners will never lose interest and network will remain secure.

Another reason why QRK is good.

7) Quark is CPU mined (this means that everyone can mine it, not only large ASIC farms)

I found great post in Quark forums that explains so much: http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/337/quarkcoin-summarized

I can only answer for Franko.

We are working on alot of nice projects like a point of sale system and have been adopted by a host of new merchants, including 10 brick and mortar pawn shops in Atlanta Georgia. Ontop of that I have another meeting with my Chamber of Commerce to introduce frk every business in the surrounding area. Its looking up.

Very interesting. Never thought of some of these coins becoming region specific like that.

Litecoin has reached a point where some are no longer considering it to be an altcoin anymore.  Looking at it's $1 billion market cap, I am forced to agree.

As an outsider, I like Peercoin, Namecoin, Protoshares, and Feathercoin.  The last one because it has been a profitable miner lately.  Devcoin and the others I like because there is something that makes them unique.

I would like to work on development of a polymorphic altcoin that maintains a stable value and is more resistant to fraud.
