This is obviously institutional investors pumping.. so the era begins.. it started out less than devcoin today and is 4x that now lol.. I expect other insitutional investors to start doing the same with cheaper coins now.

Oh nice its already happening... look at devcoin.

DOGE is finding it's own and there's no institutional buyers, trust me.  Been around the stock world to long.  Institutional buyers have a script they must follow as to what they can buy and minimum return vs. risk.

Now on the other hand, diff is reaching a halving soon, more difficult to get coin, ergo, higher price if you want to look at it like that. I prefer the spike, fib retrace, and then the inevitable rise.  GLTA

my handy dandy Casio calculator shows 5% inflation over 19 years:
[1.05^19]~=250billion, not 200 million

I distinctly remember early Dogecoin adopters saying 5% annual "inflation",
w/ no hard and fast cap on total mined, early on.
I assumed you were all aware of this. I guess not.

Your numbers-fu is off. The block reward after 600k blocks is a fixed number, not %. That means that percentage wise the actual inflation rate will go down over time as the ratio of total coins in circulation gets significantly larger than the non-increasing block reward.

The lack of a fixed cap is positive: miners will continue to receive blocks so fees can remain lower.

No moon with endless supply. You will never land on it. You will be lost in space. Endless travel, absolutely no moon.

Better raise cap to 110 billion and stretch the release of the added 10 billion over 5 or 10 years.

I personaly think that that absence of cap is more preferable. 10k block reward gives us about 5256kk of reward per year, which is 5.2% inflation a year first year. 20-year calculation looks like this
year         total sup                  inflation %
1   100   5,256   5,256

I agree that keeping the 10k mining reward sounds like a good idea - it'll help give doge legs beyond just the first year, and give the currency time to find a home/use among more users than just currency traders and people speculating. It also ensures the integrity and security of transactions since people will keep mining it (though not necessarily to the degree we see now).

Hi people.
I'm encountered another bug (or fork?) in the doge chain.
Recently I sent some doges from my own wallet to my cryptsy account to sale them. After 4 hours my doges didn't make it yet, and examining the transaction (http://dogechain.info/tx/5d7cd6b649538ff1cf0f1871fe0f0c5daf026b779373807fda05bea16deb3b01) shows like I sent TWO sums to a two different wallets, but I really sent only one sum!
Another "sent" sum, as shown in my wallet, is on my local account. But transaction shows that it came to another address (imo, non-existent).
And that was not a transaction fee. As you can see in the same TX record, I receive some doges to my address, and then send almost all (except near 2.5 doge) to cryptsy. 1 doge was a fee, and my wallet honestly said to me of that, and 1.50461029 stayed at my wallet, as it still shows me.

I'd never notice this bug if my money would arrive to cryptsy in terms, so thanks to soo looong cryptsy Smiley

oh. Of course, this all happened 01.20.14, and my wallet was v1.4. Full resync after this bug showed me nothing new, too.

Stop this pump talk, because there is no organised pump. Its natural growth.

What happened to http://doge.scryptpools.com/ ?

I mined a load of Dogecoin on that pool a good while back, but looks like the site has closed down? Is there anyway to get the coins I had on the site back?

Take your doge profits and buy lottocoin. We are shooting up like a rocket following doge's rise. Come profit twice.
https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/137
Going from 40 to 50 is a bigger gain than going from 235 to 245 and we don't have big ass 100 BTC sell walls in our way. Just saying Smiley

are you solo mining?
there should be only one "--scrypt"
if you are solomining, then check your port number. if the ports in you dogecoin.conf file matches then, you wouldn't have started the qt client with the -server flag
