The odds are quite high that there will be a McShibe burger in the UK mcdonalds for a week!

http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/28kkyd/mcdonalds_has_spoken_mcshibe/

A McDoge would be a better name.

Yes, but McDonalds would never have accepted it. Associating meat with dogs would not be a good advertising strategy Tongue

Exactly what I was about to post.

Do you think any company, even one like McDonalds, wants the word "DOG" on their burgers?

I agree it does conjure up thoughts of dog meat, but I still like the name. It's not like I'm suggesting a McDogeMeat.

Actually, I think there was a McDoge, but it was removed with a few others, including the McDogecoin.

McDoge was not this community's finest moment. How could anyone think that was a good idea?

Fact, not FUD. Take the blinders off. Don't forget I'm a holder and supporter myself just not delusional.

Dogecoin has the advantage of having a smaller and thus more flexible userbase dans Bitcoin's. If 51% attacks end up being a considerable threat in the future, a change of algorithm could happen; the developpers have talked about this a few times.
Why not change the algorithm right now? To prevent possible problems in the future?

Why not change the algorithm right now? To prevent possible problems in the future?

Because at the moment, it's the second most secure scrypt coin so there's no need.
And since many dogecoin users bought ASICs to secure the network, it would be unfair for them to change now when it's still very profitable.

When the block reward will fall to 30000 in three month, if the price didn't rise considerably, it might be wise to reconsider.

Well touche Lynn anyways I like the name Mcshibe sounds classy in my mind Smiley

I agree Smiley
I had lost hope that a dogecoin-related burger would win because of McDonald's censorship, that's a pleasant surprise.

Based on what? Total hashrate? That's not what makes it secure at all.

The hashrate is not what makes it secure? I thought that was the whole point of cryptocurrencies Tongue

For now it's at 60gh/s. The three biggest pools wouldn't have enough hashpower to do a 51% attack.
An independant miner would need a 2.5M$ investment in mining hardware to attempt this, and unless he holds more than 10% of all the doges, he would not profit from double-spending.

There's an ASIC group buy going on for Dogecoins, it will end tomorrow.
They've already raised more than 2400$.
If you want to contribute, there's no minimum amount: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogemarket/comments/28gjjq/sg_ss_purchase_micro_shares_of_asic_miners/

Interesting, albeit really long, discussion about implementing Proof of Stake, by Dogecoin's developpers:
