Because with AuxPoW, a Doge is tapped into all scrypt hash power.
ALL? Incorrect. Doge is tapped into (sharing) Litecoin's hash network. Just like all the sha256 merged coins are sharing the network with Bitcoin. I believe the AuxPoW fork code allows the sharing of any script coin with a hashrate higher than that of Doge, which at this time is only LTC. can u give link to that aux link and why would u do sth like that ? The devs told us about that ages ago, I can't remember the specific thread on /r/dogecoin or /r/dogecoindev. But, myriadcoin is successfully merge mineable with dogecoin ever since the fork: http://www.reddit.com/r/myriadcoin/comments/2g3xm4/its_dday_lets_bag_some_doge/

I don't think that's correct at all. Any scrypt coin has to have the merge mine patch added if they wanna be merge mined with LTC and doge. There's nothing automatic about it. I'm not a coder but I know That's how it's done with BTC and all the merge mined coins there.

It does not have to have a higher hash rate. Your right. I just switched to multipool.us and am currently mining doge along with ANC.

I suspect this merged mining will hurt both Litecoin and Doge. Diff has been driven through the roof on both and profitability seems to be in the toilet.

You're missing the whole point and reason for the merge mining. To make both coins ultra secure so they can push them mainstream starting in a few months. Like I said before this run started, doge and LTC will be added to BitPay and Coinbase. That's when the real run will start. Right now only insiders have bought. Chokers buy last for the chicken feed.

The merged mining will only add more hashrate to LTC from miners who decide to mine LTC and also get DOGE. They (LTC) did not change their coin to support auxPOW so any additional hashrate they get is just former DOGE miners moving over. Miners don't necessarily need to mine LTC to get DOGE though as any POW scrypt coin can be used to get DOGE now.

The code is not capped by 100B coins. There will be small yearly inflation and mining will continue with the minimum block reward until forked.

Not the case here.

This is just cybersquatting. If Dogecoin foundation contacts ICANN they can transfer the domain to them.
