Back to Ixcoin I guess.  Looks like we're seeing some strong buy support at .0036 again.

I don't get it. Who is buying?

Somebody with a strong incentive to see the currency succeed. Probably Nasakioto

If he sold a heap of ixcoins in the early rush, he would now have the bitcoin backing to prop up the price.  Would be simple enough to commit, say, half of your sold-out bitcoins to keeping the price up.  If it tanks below that, he's still got a heap of bitcoins.  If by some miracle ixcoin lives on, he's bought back in again at a lower price, plus he's still got heaps stashed.

Beware the weak hands!

Buyers are ppl that realist that the value of ixcoin is curently underpriced and will charge back over 0,004 btc within few days or so..

Value of ixc can be easily calculated comparing mining of both btc and ixc, theres almost no math required to realise that ixc is underpriced, especialy now when its hitting like 0,0001 btc.

For example namecoin was also neglected and seamed worthless, but now its at 0,03 btc per nmc, compare when that happens to ixc.

u buy now at price of 0,001 for 10 btc, thats 10 000 ixc, and wait for it to hit like 0,02 margin, then sell.
you would earn 10 000 x 0,02 - 10 = 190 btc (cca 2000 $)

+1 Agreed. Ixcoin has no added usage except inflating the amount of virtual currency that exists.

No, it has not. The P2P DNS it's meant to serve is a total failure and NM actually add injury to the sorrow.

At least this year, but victory belongs to those who believe on it longer. For starters ixc came out way too strong compared to btc, which were totally worthless last year.

Yep, it's what happens when you just change almost nothing in the protocol and try to make a quick buck over others.

However watching what happened to IXcoin also gave me more ideas about protecting the bitcoin protocol from attacks so from that technical point of view I think this chain was somewhat a success.

Um, could you go into details on this statement ?

a) Not only the p2p dns didn't took off, just a narrow number of users uses such.

b) If not enough of it to not had taking off, NM is already a way to sell domains for it, which is an extra incentive to keep away from that Naming Service.

1) Ummmm, it's too early to say, namecoin's pretty young. But if US keeps seizing domain names from popular services, the need for a decentralized DNS system will become more apparent Smiley

2) Didn't get your second point. Please rephrase.

a) Don't make seizing of wikileaks sound like US is seizing domains like crazy. P2P DNS however has the effect of a gun pointed at US; «go on seizing and alternatives kicks in».

b) By using NM as "registration payment" and due to speculation, a domain in a system that no one uses is already more expensive than a regular domain.

A new p2p DNS system is has to be a bit different ti succeed.

Yes,

Still ~170 domains out of millions ain't much.

However to sort that out I would launch a DNS backup service with blacklisting for gov's apprehensions. Therefore all the users would need to do is to point at one of those backup nameservers.

ie.

freedomspeech.org -> A -> 123.123.123.123

issued order to seize freedomspeech by the gov; regular NS:

freedomspeech.org -> A -> «tha feds IP»

backup NS with blacklisting:

freedomspeech.org -> A - > «tha feds IP» -> .|. -> 123.123.123.123

It is not worth to mine. Difficulty is 16000 and price per ixcoin is 0.0007 btc each.
