I think they will be needed. Or projects will run with double coins, one project and one stable.
BTW DGX can be also used as stablecoin IMO.

For cryptocurrencies to be used as currencies which they were meant to be in the first place the need for a stable coin is greater now more than ever because there is no way that sellers would want to accept a currency which value can drop in the blink of an eye. It does look like it would be hard to find one stable coin but that does not mean that it is not needed.

We have no dilemma that the massive use of crypto requires stability for the simple reason:
many more people want to make payments than to gamble.

As far as the future of the Stablecoins, the race has just started, and time will show the results ...
We hope that CP Processor will achieve its vision and mission  Cool

Our recent poll showed that 45% of you believes that MakerDao& Dai has the most promising Stablecoin and that it will be most likely the future of crypto payment.

We think that stable token DAI in practice has the role of ETH LONG leverage and in other words serves as some kind of ETH CALL Option.

What do you think?

I believe that stablecoin is very necessary for crypto. I am sure that such coin will appear in this year's and this become a reason why a lot of new people will come in crypto. There will be new hype about crypto.

No, to make payments I don't think the stablecoins are necessary. Instead, they are an interesting concept if you are thinking in holding. For example, if someone wants to hold for a long time and is worried about the possibility that the price of his coins falls, he could get some stablecoins and hold them. The problem is to guarantee that the value of those stablecoins stays really stable, after all, they are just another cryptocurrency. Anyway, I think the only people who use the stablecoins are the traders when they think that the market is going to drop.

Comprehensive overview of STABLECOINS — PART 1.

For those of you who still don’t know, “Stablecoins” as they are called by the greater blockchain community, are crypto coins that are intended to provide measurable stability in a price change. These crypto coins are “designed to be used as a unit of account and even as a store of value.” Typically, most stablecoins are pegged against the USD, but some implementations intend to move over to a basket of currencies or an index such as the CPI (consumer price index) in time. This is in hopes of having a currency independent of fiat in the near future.

There are three categories of approaches to developing a price-stable cryptocurrency:
1. fiat-collateralized
2. crypto-collateralized
3. non-collateralized (essentially an independent, non-collateralized currency maintained by an “algoritham”)

In my own opinion, I think for cryptocurrencies to be used as means of exchange for payment of either goods and services there is need for a  stable coin. No body will want to sell and accept a coin which the price is not stable as they will be tendency for the price to fall and they maybe at loss unlike when the coin price is stable and there is no problem of loss.

It is exactly what the market needs if cryptocurrencies are ever going to serve the purpose that they were created for and to be used as currencies. if there is no stable coin then there would be no one who would want to use it as a currency since it is very unpredictable and volatile. Although as we are looking for a stable coin then there should also be a coin which its transactions are instant.

Right on point! The race for the dominant stablecoin has just begun, but is there any of them you trust the most?

I personally prefer direct converting to fiat if I want to convert to fiat, but seems like not many exchange support for direct fiat converting. Stable coin are easily manipulated if we compared to other crypto, like the Tether case in bitfinex before.

Yes, we need stablecoins for sure, because all people need to own some couns that bring stability into their portofolio. From what i saw untill now,  Havven seems to be the most promising option regarding stablecoins.

Yes, you are right about Tether, it is actually adding to the volatility of the cryptomarket. What do you think about this new "stablecoin" that Circle is bringing to the market? Same as Tether, or maybe better?

Yes, Havven is interesting. But its price right now is $0,66  Sad
The current stablecoins offer is continuously changing and innovating, and that is a good thing. If we are going to take cryptocurrency mainstream then it's time to start using stablecoins and payment processors.

I do not think it is necessary because maybe in the future still use the payment tool as it is today, besides that it is still current as usual and not much news there will be an update for it!

Comprehensive overview of STABLECOINS — PART 2
FIAT COLLATERALIZED STABLECOINS
**Fiat collateral for creating a token represents reserves held by a central entity.**
How it works: The mechanics for implementation are fairly straight-forward. A third party takes deposits in US Dollars (or another desirable fiat currency) and issues a unit of stablecoin for every dollar deposited. To cash out a unit of stablecoin, the third party wires US Dollar to the holder and burns a unit of the stablecoin.
Pros:
* Easy to conceptualize
* Value will match USD with certainty if properly implemented (digitized dollars without capital controls)
Cons:
* Must trust third-party to hold fiat collateral
* Need additional third-party for audit to make sure appropriate collateral is being held and units of stablecoin match deposits
* Expensive and slow to audit
Projects with this structure:
1.Tether,
2.TrueUSD,
3.DigixDAO,
4.Globcoin,
5.AAA reserve,
6.Stably,
7.X8 currency

I surely find stable coins very useful for many crypto projects, which prefer to use crypto before fiat for certain purposes, such as creating reserve funds for instance.

Here are a couple meaningful things a stablecoin could also enable:
1. Increased global access to a stable monetary system
2. A currency for financial liabilities and derivatives
3. Mass adoption in real life

Comprehensive overview of STABLECOINS — PART 3

**CRYPTO COLLATERALIZED STABLECOINS**
Instead of backing units of a stablecoin 1:1 with fiat, crypto-collateralized stablecoins hold a ratio greater than 1:1 of a cryptocurrency (or basket of cryptocurrencies) and issue units of a stablecoin supported by the cryptocurrency held.

**Pros:**
1. Does not rely on third-party custody like fiat-collateralized
2. Conducted on-chain which enables a faster increase/decrease of stable coin units and liquidity than fiat-collateralized
3. Transparent to external parties without the need for auditors
**Cons:**
1. Not capital efficient
2. Complex selection process if a basket of cryptocurrencies; questionable price stability/security if just one cryptocurrency

**Projects with this structure:**
1. Bitshares
2. MakerDAO
3. Aurora
4. Havven
5. CP Processor

Stablecoins are very much needed if we are to ever actualize the use of cryptocurrencies as a valid currency for carrying out transactions. One of the biggest hindrances of bitcoin and other altcoins as a currency is that they are very volatile which means that the prices of the coins are always fluctuating. This means that people cannot trust the price of items to stay a particular number of coins at all times.

COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW OF STABLECOINS - PART 4!
NON COLLATERALIZED STABLECOINS

Non collateralized stablecoins are price stable cryptocurrencies that aren’t backed by any collateral. It is the most complex, but potentially the most impactful for the ecosystem. To maintain the price level, a “central bank” is created that algorithmically maintains the supply of currency, increasing it when price goes up and decreasing it when price goes down.

Pros:
-Does not require collateral
-Theoretically risk-independent of other currencies (though if there is a general decline in cryptocurrencies as an asset class there would likely be a decline in demand for seigniorage shares)
Cons:
-Not as intuitive or easily explained as other structures
-Input of future expectations for seigniorage shares means that it cannot be known how resilient a coin is to downward pressure
-Require always increasing future demand

Projects that implement this method are:
1. Basecoin
2. Carbon
3. Kowala
4. Fragments
5. Minexcoin
6. CP Processor

First there's no such thing as Stable Coins, as you can see in the market there's no such thing as stable even the Bitcoin itself didn't  maintain its price because it's the market/people are making the price of it.

Well in the image below you will see the volatility of Bitcoin in the past years until now, that's how the market works there's no such thing as stable.

The price of most cryptocurrencies is determined by the marketplace, where buyers and sellers exchange coins and a price is discovered by supply and demand. In contrast, stablecoins seek to achieve a fixed price, which happens through a variety of means

One of the primary factors driving merchants away from accepting cryptocurrencies is the volatile price coupled with rising transaction fees. This has caused several mainstream companies to drop bitcoin as a form of payment. In comparison, stablecoins can potentially serve as the backbone of financial applications on the blockchain, especially considering that some of them are compatible with smart contracts…

Stable coins are needed for the correct token sale on the ICO. If the price of the new token depend on ETH there is a possibility that its price will  change so much by the end of the ICO.

There are already exist a stable coin called USD Tether.
The price is following the USD, but this coin is just for payment just like fiat, not for investment like other coins.
many people in crypto is aiming for investing, not for payment.

As we have concluded that cryptocurrency are not just for daily transactions or payments, so we need to categorize them.
Current leaders of market are useless in daily payments and it's felt that we need some stable coins, something pegged to fiat like Tether to go on with daily payments.
For example a cent coin, 1 coin = 1 cent (USD) with a flat fees of 1 cent per transaction would make things easier.

Yep, we need a coin to be at a stable price so that we can use it as a payment method. USDT is kinda stable but it really follows the dollar.

But here we are taking about for general payment related system using crypto currency, in such instance I don't feel like the need of any stable coins as crypto payments generally uses a conversion rate on sites which helps to convert the required money in crypto currency. For example, if you wan to buy something for 10 USD you will pay more or less Bitcoin depending upon the present value of Bitcoin at the time of billing. This way even the most volatile crypto can be used for making payments.

We know that Tether exist, but we are hoping that some other stablecoin project will take the lead, because so much controversy surrounds Tether and it is giving stablecoins a bad name

Stable coins are not only tokens provided by national currencies and precious metals. The search for a stable crypto currency, which will minimize the costs and risks of storing its security, led to the creation of much more original applicants for the role of money: BitAssets, Labor-Hour Tokens and dai.

I mean it is not what we think its what the market needs, because why would anyone would spend their bitcoin for example like to buy a 10$ worth of bitcoin item that they know that tomorrow its is going to be 5$ worth of bitcoin, having an unstable coin used for trades is not something that is not good for neither the merchant or the customer, if we really want for the cryptocurrency to go further and be used as payment method we need to have some kind of stable coin.

Here is an example how CP Processors Stablecoin would work:

Example - Dollar Token (DoTo) Stablecoin

100 dollars = 100 DoTo (Always)
1ETH = 500 DoTo* (current exchange rate ETH/USD)
1cPROtoken* = 1 DoTo* (current exchange rate cPRO/USD)

*cPRO token is a Utility token for CP’s Payment Processor

What is DoTo Stablecoin used for?

You can exchange your volatile cryptocurrency to a stable one (DoTo) and maintain your assets and/or make digital payments.

Cryptocurrencies = volatile price
Stablecoin = always stable price (1 dollar = 1DoTo)

How we maintain DoTo’s price stability?

Our formula is simple as this:

STABLE COIN (DoTo) = ETH & ERC20 TOKENS DEBT COLLATERAL +
ETH & ERC20 TOKENS CONVERSION + SUPPLY-DEMAND ADJUSTMENT BY SUPPLEMENTS

Technical explanation:

STABLE TOKENS SYSTEM WITH PERSONAL LOAN & CONVERSION
ERC20 tokens minted with smart contract functions on public Ethereum network,
Guaranteed by personal ETH & ERC20 tokens change (collateral + conversion) on smart contract custodian on Ethereum network.

Users can send when they want and how much they want ETH to personal conversion smart contract to change them for minted Stable Tokens ST.

Convertibility can be a personal conversion on the smart contract ETH to ST and ST to ETH

A user can do buyback of all ETH on personal conversion smart contract by the same peer if he sends Stable Tokens ST to burn them on the smart contract and no one else can buyback his ETH.

High external reserve at the margin can be ST=ETH+derivative1+derivative2...derivativeN on the smart contract.

Definitely, yes. Any market or business would close down completely because of losses whenever the value of any crypto they have accepted have became less and less and value. And having a budget is very essential to a family so that's why crypto payments needs to be stable.

I think Stablecoins have to reach the point where crypto payments is their main (or one their main).
Of course not to limit their utility, and I don't mean it should only used as payment method. But the price fluctuations on BTC, ETH, LTC etc, are huge and it will take a lot of time, money, effort for them to be traded like in a usual "normal" market.

Although stablecoins are one of the hot topics in 2018, it seems that a great majority of people still don't quite understand their main concept. Hopefully, that will soon change if we wanna see stablecoins as the future of crypto payments.
We believe that education is the first step towards introducing stablecoins in mass use.

For example, how would you explain what stablecoins are to a complete crypto beginner?

During our extensive market research, we have come across some devastating facts. The majority of people that are dealing with cryptocurrencies, still has no clue what the concept of stablecoins is all about. The most popular false opinion is that it refers to cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin or ether, that are in some way, superior to other cryptocurrencies and dictate the price change. That is why we have decided to start a public group StableCoins, whose sole purpose will be to educate the community about the potential and significance of stablecoins in general.

If you are interested in stablecoins, join the public group StableCoins, and help us spread the word - https://www.facebook.com/groups/208634679804038/

We strongly believe that stablecoins might be the key to mass adoption of cryptocurrencies!

The next wave of USD-backed stablecoins have begun to make their way onto high-volume cryptocurrency exchanges, and early indications suggest that traders may trust them more than tether (USDT)...

I think it could be a wise idea for people that accept payments in crypto. For example I get paid in bitcoin for the work I do but if I am going to get payments in more stablecoins like usdt or similar that could be wiser for me in investment sense. Right now sometimes the money I make gets bigger because the price goes higher but sometimes it gets less because the price is going lower.

However if I start to accept the stable coins such as usdt or usdc than the money I make stays the same no matter what, if you believe a future in bitcoin that is a bad move but if you believe it will go down that it is a smart move.

I think that yes, because it seems to me that stable coins need to be very strong in order to finally fix your deposit, but on the other hand, they can worsen the situation very much for traders if the project is scam

I think that is an absolute necessary to have a stable coin if we wish to use it as a payment system, cause if it isn't stable, then every merchant or people who used the coins for payment will meet hard time to utilize it.

Yeah, I strongly believe that stable coins are needed. Just imagine you have 1000 btc and there is a bull run. You predict bearish market soon and need to fix your profit. Cashing out isn't a good idea, so you need stable coin with liquidity to convert 1000 BTC. Next year will be a year of stable coins!

Definitely! Community needs to start using stablecoins more. Good think is that now more and more people are raising awareness on stablecoins. The main question next year will be which one is going to prove its worth in the market, and which one will truly hold its peg and manage to stay stable in all market conditions

Why do we need so many stable coins in the market? Currently we have Tether, TrueUSD, GUSD, Dai, Binance was going to create its own stable coin. But what if it turns out that one of the stable coins has no value?

Why do we need so many stable coins in the market? Currently we have Tether, TrueUSD, GUSD, Dai, Binance was going to create its own stable coin. But what if it turns out that one of the stable coins has no value?

Then the other stable coins will replace the position, so we still have another chance to use in the double life. Don't forget that now USDC is available in the poloniex and they claim that this coin is one of the stable coins too. So we need more option for the stable coins, and I think if this can be used for the real life and online life, then we don't have a problem to pay with the cryptocurrency.

That's impossible because every stablecoin provider or creator will always giving back up equal to the total supply so that the coin can be bought back anytime with enough resource. They are taking the profit from the fee generated in every transaction. If the stablecoin turns out to be zero, that means the company is scamming.

Take a look at this questionnaire we made for our #StableCoinsREVIEW
We want to hear your thoughts. Is there anything else we should ask these stable coin teams?

In the effort to further raise awareness on stablecoins in general, we decided to make the first standardized stablecoins questionnaire. Before standards can be established, we need to get feedback from everyone in the community. It is essential that we all work together to create these standards.

That is why we have created this survey with proposed questions that any stablecoin will have to answer before calling itself a proper stablecoin. We expect you to tell us which questions you would exclude from this questionnaire and to add those that are missing.

Here is a link to the survey - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmpAXOOOkNS94BJ18fneTAgtMnVpzG2XXnqr1ttRwrxLj2Cw/viewform?usp=sf_link

Think need their in the future there. If the Fiat money will disappear and will not need to somehow fix the profit that makes sense in these coins will not.

It doesn't seem plausible that fiat money will disappear any time soon. Stablecoins are meant to ease up the mass adoption of crypto, and not to eradicate fiat money completely. Just to enable quicker transactions and payments throughout the world, because cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ether cannot fulfill that need because of their extreme price volatility

They are needed to fix your profit. just imagine BTC will go to 20 k again and what will you do next?
I would fix profit in usdt and then wait for correction.

A very necessary thing on crypto-countertops. Because many exchanges do not have support for fiat money, because stable coins are an excellent solution for storing funds on the exchange. You never know when there will be another drawdown in the market.
The problem in this question is only one, that the issue of coin staples has become a hype, therefore the probability of a scam may increase.

You wouldn't choose some of the more reliable, regulated stablecoins?

You are right, that is why there is an urgency to create stablecoin standards that would contribute to a healty and trustworthy ecosystem

Probably, we need them now, but we will not need stablecoins in the future because increasing volumes will decrease the volatility. Crypto will be as volatile as present fiat.

I cant imagine that in the near future the volatility will decrease drastically. We will need some stablecoins. However, those who take payments can just take risks and accept crypto by the current quotation

I think they are needed for near future but not for too long.
Yeah, it is hard to accomplish adoption without stable coins but for how long ?

I think if we can manage to make some sort of bitcoin or generally crypto payment accepted a lot of places in the world thanks to stablecoins (the buyer can pay with any coin they like but the seller gets stablecoin instead which they can turn into cash) but that should not be too long because there will be a time when banks start using bitcoins in their systems and even store some in their banks which means just like your bank account is your "wallet" in fiat currency it will also become your wallet for your crypto and at that time we will not need stablecoins at all since we will be capable of paying with crypto anywhere we like.

I think yes, we need a stable coin in the future if crypto are we using as payment in the future because if its unstable surely all of us will never used it as payment and they will only hold it. The mindset of all of us is the unstable coin is much better to become an asset than used it as payment in transactions.

I believe that we will need stable coins for a very long time. If the market reaches such a development that every coin or token will have a direct exchange for fiat, then perhaps stable coins will lose their value. In the meantime, stable coins greatly facilitate our work with cryptocurrency.
