In my opinion, that determines the security of our bitcoin wallets is our own. If we are careless and not careful then we can be sure our bitcoin wallet is easy to hack. One of the things that bitcoin holders often forget to keep their bitcoin wallet is an email that links to the wallet. This is very dangerous because it can make us lose our wallet. Usually the hacker is easier in breaking the email address first before breaking into the bitcoin wallet. They usually apply the forward email facility to their email so that any information sent to your email will be automatically sent also to hacker email. This makes them easier to find out the key of your bitcoin wallet. My advice, you always check and update security regularly to make sure your bitcoin wallet is completely safe.

if the security of the wallet depends on how you keep your wallet. if you are careless it will be easy to be stolen by others, It is easier to keep a hardware wallet safer than an online one. I would therefore recommend hardware if everyone can afford it, even though the bitcoin might be secured with a strong fire wall, but that doesn't mean you should release vital information about your bitcoin into the world, Because it is your money and there are too much people, who would steal it with pleasure.

keep bitcoin in hardware wallet is safe method from hacking but never open any phishing emails or malware virus on computer , hackers can send any links to the computer through emails or any files     if we click it then they access our computer without our notice best way to avoid  don't open any email regarding phsiining or virus files.

You are not 100% sure in crypto currency wallet, there's any chances that your funds will be lost, like if ever you did an mistake or click the strange link from someone or via email. Hardware wallet is the most attractive, popular  and secured wallet for the assets that used a lot of people here in crypto world. Keep it safe your private key and don't put it on public.

I prefer with hardware wallet to safe my bitcoin and I think the price of that hardware is not too expensive and we can place it in the safe place without worry from being stolen. I do not prefer to choose online wallet since we don't know how secure their site and the possibilities of being hacked is always open so we need the other wallet to keep safe our bitcoin. besides that, maybe we can also use the wallet for android and I think there are many wallets that we can use.

Yes, wallet hardware is the best. The price is proportional to the security level, much safer than using an online wallet. If funds are limited, using an online wallet does not matter, use complicated passwords and be careful in opening any website because of the many phishing websites today. Do not use wallet exchange to store assets, very dangerous because if the exchange is hacked then your assets can be lost.

You should monitor your wallet frequently and should use security applications, such as metamask. This is a useful application to help protect your account.

Yeah, that's the reason why we need to avoid using the wallet that can be hacked. Actually even we didn't use the wallet exchange hackers can still hack us. So we need to be careful every-day.

Do not click on links sent in emails.

Google ads had "poison ads" sent by hackers which resulted in $50,000,000 theft. Be careful of google advertisements
Yeah this is one of the most important thing that bitcoin users must beware of...thanks for sharing this info in this important topic

This is the latest technology and modern era and the technology is grooming nowadays and with the growth of the latest technology there are lot of DDOS and hackers protections are available in the market that makes your online accounts safer but I think the hackers only attack if you have some missed work that makes them easy to control,.

The only way to keep all of your crypto safe, is just to store them all on different wallets, or at least, on a safe one (a paper wallet, a hardware wallet) but if you know how to protect your entire assets you will be more than good for the next few years

It is very important to keep safe your bitcoins.
Now adays there's a lot of hackers that will do anything just to get your coins.
Use a hardwallet in keeping safe of your bitcoin.
It is very useful and very secure on keeping coins.
Also do not share your password to anyone as long aa they don't have any related to you.
And be careful what you see on some sites it can hack also your coins.
Just think before you click.

The best way to protect me is the trezor hardware wallet and ledgerwallet. A good list of recommendations, lots of dab choices right now, lots of hacker attacks on the exchange, and new ways to attack your assets are still being created

I thinj online wallets are not really a good wallet or invulnerable to hackers. There many things that might happen that is why I conclude this statement. You can be fooled by phishing website. You can also lose time when an online wallet has doing maintenance. There are many things that might happen other than these things. I think the better wallet to use are hardware wallets and paper wallets.

Most bounty hunters and airdrop hunters usually loose their funds through hacks. They fill many forms not doing any checks on the project to know if its legit or not, in turn submit their details such as email addresses, private keys and some go as far as using their email passwords on phishing sites that collects and stores their data.

Please kindly do a background check on the projects you fill online and dont use same passwords for your email and your exchange where u keep your coins.

Final note always activate 2factor-authenticator
This is sad and I have seen many investors and bounty hunters lose their money that way, the hackers use mostly social engineering to deceive unsuspecting users about their intentions pretending to be the developers or a respected member of the community and then they get access to many wallets and steal everything from those users, we need to remember that if we lose our coins we are never going to recover them, so must take extreme care of them.

Great thread mate, very concise and informative but i guess online wallet is not quite safe for me, since it can be easily accesible anytime through internet connection and has the greater tendency to be hack by intruder online compared to any other type of crypto wallets available. Hardware wallets are best for safekeeping your wealth. I also like desktop and paper wallets as suggested on first replies above. Of course, you just have to safekeep your private keys also and backup .dat file for your own safety. This guide is very beneficial to newcomers to cryptocurrency. Keep it up.

2FA is one of the defensive mechanism of your account, it can bee safer if you use that method, and always think that you are always vulnerable to hackers, you must a plan B in all your works, especially in your wallet, you must have your own security method i maintaining the stronghold of your wallet from hackers, hackers now a days are really smart and they can get your information in the web in an instant.
