Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin can be kept in “wallets”, most of which are software applications running on your PC or that can be accessed via the Internet. To control and spend your Bitcoin (or any other cryptocurrency) wallet applications keep a long string of characters called “private key” (you can see it as a very long password) stored either on your pc or in an online server. Both these options are not safe as hackers can take control of internet servers or install malware on your pc and “steal” your Bitcoin.
The safest option is to keep your private keys away from the internet, so that hackers cannot steal them. For this reason several companies developed usb-key-like wallets that allow you to store your Bitcoin offline and protect them with strong encryption and a PIN code (so called “hardware wallets” or just “hard wallets”). If you are thinking about purchasing cryptocurrencies, I would strongly recommend to keep them safe in a “hard wallet”.

Do not click on links sent in emails.

Google ads had "poison ads" sent by hackers which resulted in $50,000,000 theft. Be careful of google advertisements

I am using myetherwallet at the moment but planning to shift to a hardware wallet as soon as I can. I just keep myself secured and away from hackers and thieves. It’s true that emails contain  malicious content that can take your information like pinkeys. I am not going to loosen my protective measures in keeping my pinkeys.

I think hardware wallet was costly mate, and I don't think its guaranteed that it would last longer. Myetherwallet was only for erc20 coins or tokens, and what we're talking about here was bitcoin. First and foremost, bitcoin storing that's commonly used particular in every country that allows bitcoin exchange locally, every people had a legit accounts and they can store their btc amount using trusted web wallet. In order to be safe from hackers you can have an optional google authenticator apps in order to have full access security in your web wallet for bitcoins.

It is an inglorious task for all investors who have cryptos in their wallets, avoiding the improper access and theft of these by the hackers. This is a fertile ground with many loopholes in the harmful action of these people.

Today it is one of the common problem today in the community... Lots of begginers get victims by scammer and hacker...  And it is very hard to trust now even our wallet because it is very possible they can access it also...  Though some says it is quite secure but it really had to trust...  We need so much security in our wallet to prevent it...

thanks, your advice is very helpful, bitcoin is a sensitive and easily hacked currency because there is no authority and regulation about hackers on BTC, so I think we should take care of our own btc. my friend had been a victim of hacker and lost some btc, thing to be aware is the exchange application.

His opinion is right and that is the way to keep safe your bitcoin from hacker. For me the best thing to do is do not trust others because no matter how you hide it if you trust someone there is a chance that it will gone.

To make your bitcoin safe from, one should have a hardware wallet. But many people cant afford to buy one. Online wallet is safe as long as you dont give your private keys. And avoid suspicoius or phishing sites.

so many hacks going on these days, its insane. really important to protect your funds, Id say the most important advice is to hold funds in a hardware wallet somewhere secure. Don't even bother NOT having a physical wallet, otherwise having funds online can easily result in them being lost if you make a silly mistake, or even if you don't. get a trezor or ledger that's my advice

First, always check the website you are visiting. There are a lot of Phishing sites, so be careful. second, don't always believe in some too-good-to-be-true offer from the Internet. It's just a bait to lure you in and get your account details. always have the benefit of the doubt.

Hardware wallets are in the lead among crypto-safes by a combination of security and convenience. Hardware wallets for cryptocurrency are very similar. Some wallets win by convenience, the second by anonymity, the third by functionality. Therefore, it is better to decide what is most important for you.

If you want to keep off with hackers or scammers, you need to be secure in all your actions. When you are entering in different cryptocurrencies, you must be sure that it is not a scam and you will make an income from it. Ask the different users to gain knowledge in a specific site so that you will have more information with regards in joining in a crypto world.

If you want to make your bitcoin safe at first you have to secure your bitcoin wallet. If you can ensure the security of your bitcoin wallet then your bitcoin is safe from hackers.
Actually hackers can still do that, as long as the wallet user is always accessing his wallet in a safe place then the assets he has also safe. But if not? because at this time a lot of websites that make same like the official website of the wallet is usually called the phishing site.

For me, I think that all is the same, online or hardware wallets, If a hacker focus in YOU as a cible, he can pass all the levels of the identification and to hack all that he wants, You can pay for a good service and they hacked you, I think is the biggest problem in the crypto world.

Of course we have to be careful in the hackers of bitcoin because it can stole our investments. We should be careful on the websites that we are entering because there is a chance that there is a hacker in that website. Think before you click.

Just use Trezor or Ledger and you will be safe
Using trezor and ledger will really help you to keep your bitcoin from hacker and this kind of wallet is very safe and secure. Hardware wallet is more safety from online wallet because of most of the wallet that already hacked is online wallet. Lastly, I suggest you must use hardware wallet so that you can sure your bitcoin is totally safe and secure.
