Whats the point of this coin if it's exactly the same as Litecoin? It has no cool marketeable meme like Dogecoin and no new technological diferences or something. So..?

mining it now.

Same... just in case it gains in value. Nearly 4k thus far... only a GeForce 680 so I'm quite limited on my hashrate.

Xivra launches at 20:00 CET Dec. 18th

What is Xivra?
----------------

Xivra 0.8.6.1 is Scrypt based and 100% based on Litecoin 0.8.6.1 and will continue to follow Litecoin but will not restrict itself to only implement that what Litecoin does.

 75 second block targets
subsidy halves in 840k blocks (~2 years)
 ~8.4 billion total coins
 5000 coins per block
192 blocks to retarget difficulty (4 hours)
difficulty adjustment is max +25% and -50%
 600 block maturity
 starting difficulty : 0.00024414
pre-mine : 4 blocks to test client and pool
 addnode=176.9.1.6
use of ports 43519(rpc) and 43520(p2p)

Pool : http://xiv.cipherpool.com/index.php by JohnDorien
Source : https://github.com/Xivra/Xivra
Source in zip : http://xivra.com/downloads/Xivra-master.zip
Windows command line client : http://xivra.com/downloads/xivrad.exe
Windows Xivra-QT GUI client : http://xivra.com/downloads/xivra-qt.zip by kr105
Block crawler : http://searchthemall.net/xivra/block_crawler.php by Thrash

Things to do :

blockchain explorer
update checkpoints once mining started
fix pnSeed
update code with credits to who credits belong
update client to look more slick
new website with tools integrated ( planned Dec.21-28 )

Things not tested :

difficulty adjustment not checked due to the fact as i did not want to pre-mine.

For more information, and links to the sourcecode and the Xivra client sofware, see this thread and http://www.xivra.com when Xivra launches

Q&A :
Is it innovative ? : No
Will Xivra be valuable : No

I have signed up with http://xiv.cipherpool.com/ and created a worker with a name and password.  I downloaded cgminer 3.7.0 and created a bat file that has

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.cipherpool.com:8839 -u workername -p 2112 password

the name and password are the same as the worker on http://xiv.cipherpool.com/.

I run the bat file and it says this and then closes.

Started cgminer 3.7.0
Probing for an alive pool
Pool 0 difficulty changed to 20
pool 0 JSON stratum auth failed: (null)

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Sounds to me like it didn´t take the workername and password. Remember, the Username for the worker in cgminer is made up of your username and your workername, for example, if you name the worker "horse" and you registered on the pool as "canen",  the correct line would be: (of course you need to remove the words "workername" And "password"

cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.cipherpool.com:8839 -u canen.horse -p 2112

btw. nice to see new pool going up. I´ll check it out tomorrow, maybe my ping there is a bit better. Speaks for acceptance!

Oh and PLEASE stop talking about Dogecoin. That one is so fail. I couldn´t find one good pool that is not overrun by pool hoppers, the thing is worthless in the truest sense of the word. Meme-Hype and that´s it. I much prefer something open and honest like Xivra here, where there is support and all around good feeling, even if there is no way to do anything with them, yet. Oh and I like those 12 hour confirmations. Much more secure against forks then most others. That is really, really good, seeing what is happening to some other coins out there.

82 million litecoins. 8.2 billion Xivra, The decimal was moved two places right. I think it makes a lot more sense.

Axio - I feel that I'm owe you an apology, I was perhaps a bit harsh in calling your launch a "calamity". Although it was umpteenth countdown adjustment, me posting 5 minutes after the final scheduled launch stating my dismay where as you did launch a couple of minutes wasn't appropriate.

You appear to have made a very noble attempt at launching a coin with no pre-mine and seemingly little mining from yourself. Good effort.

What is your long-term vision for Xivra? Do you have a team?

No worries I am not easily offended , to explain the story behind and the vision which i have in mind for Xivra will take a while to write down , so I will do that sometime in the upcoming days.

As for a team, the community here is my team. Great support from several people, despite the fact that Xivra is only a day old.

good night for now

The Network Hashrate seems to stay stable. That is a very good sign and a testament to trust. And since these coins live and die by trust, I´d say: Good start!

No premining is made me gain interest.
