Cryptsy is overloaded with coins. I believe they are asking something like 2BTC for all new coins. They seem to be taking really popular coins, but not much added to their site in the last few weeks.

I'm not sure if we are a large enough community yet to round up 2BTC from all of us. I would donate a small amount if this was set up though. Anyway, we have one exchange now and 2 more on the way very soon so things aren't that bad, Cryptsy isn't everything...

which other 2 exchanges are you refering to?

Second here

and i'm in talks with another at the moment which seems promising.

the 2nd one I already knew about; was more wondering about the 3d ;-)

Hey folks!

My p2pool for Xivra has been chugging along for more than a month now and continuously generated coins at a steady pace without a hitch. There are some issues with the statistics, but they are merely cosmetic. I will set up a repo on github with the fork within the next few days. Honestly, the changes aren't really advanced compared to forrestvs original. Also, the official fork will be based off a more official release version.

If you haven't heard of p2pools before, it basically removes the need of a centralized organizer for distributing the computing power. Using the source code anyone can set up their own node, yet we all work together to find blocks. To me, this seems a lot closer to the vision bitcoin and its equivalents has provided us with.

Also, my personal hashing power is limited, I'm afraid my hosting costs will soon supersede the earnings. I would really appreciate more people joining me in the quest to finding more blocks. Also, could my pool please be added to the original post?

Please visit blackcomputing.org if you are interested  Smiley

Happy mining!

Xivra is gaining momentum .. nice to see, but I have been growing a bit worried about the difficulty rising..

over the last few days it has even been one of the most profitable coins to mine, and we can count ourselves lucky that it is still somewhat of a secret tip. But when the time comes and sites like cryptsy, coinwarz or coinchoose pick it up (and that can´t be too far away, the way it is going), the big pools will pick it up and then we will face a problem other coins have experienced already.

Xiv´s have a rather slow difficulty adjustment time. Which is nice, as long as the network is steadily rising and makes for much more predictable results. The Problem arises as soon as a big mining pool "rapes" the coin, as long as it´s difficulty is low. On the next adjustment, diff. then rises to unheard of heights, the pool leaves and we small miners are left with picking up the pieces. Same happened for example to the Franko a while ago, which had a 6 hour diff. adjustment time. Big pools came in, raped it and pushed the diff. so high, that after leaving it took the rest of the network days, not 6 hours, to reach the next adjustment. That´s why they now implemented the Gravitiy well.

I think that could be a good idea for Xivra as well. In the beginning, we wouldn´t feel the effects, as long as the network stays stable. But it would possibly deter the big Multipools from raping the low difficulty.

It all is better explained here:

What do you guys think?

I agree. KGW should be implemented now rather then later after the big pools pushed up the difficulty rating. All new coins should have KGW implemented at the start. It's currently the best way to create stable coins.

Xivra has already a so called 'gravity well' from the start.  Grin A much more simple implementation then the so called 'Kimoto gravity well'.
I will make some graphics to explain.

Gravity wells are basically intended to damp/flatten out the sudden rise in difficulty if 1 or multiple multi-pools or individuals with enormous hash rate start to mine a 'coin' for a very short period.

The reason that Xivra is a lot less affected compared to many other crypto currencies is that we implemented a maximum difficulty change of max +25% and due to the fact that multi-pools are focused on quick return on their mining power. Xivra is more focused on loyal miners with a block maturity setting of 600 blocks +20.

I will visualize this with a picture I found on these forums.

I added some red dots to show how Xivra's behaviour is compared to other currencies without a so called 'well'.

As you can see the difficulty rises much more gradient then others due to the 25% limit.

Ofcourse Xivra's difficulty will rise just like any other crypto currency which uses a gravity well if enormous hash power is used to mine the specific coin for a longer period of time, this is the whole concept of hashpower vs difficulty.

note: the bigger the normal hash rate is for any given currency, the lower the effects of any sudden increase. So start mining Xivra today !

Just found out about this coin, I hope it does well. I also hope I'm not too late for the giveaway.

XJAzFgZzqRJLYBcUTWSdT1tc3aVqmNYZRE

the giveaway is on Hostdab if you purchase a hosting package. There is also a giveaway for 1000 XIV here - http://www.cryptorun.com/index.php?topic=3.0

I don't know of any other giveaways though, ever since they closed a few on this forum due to it now being banned.
