Be warned tho, the OSX build is kind of a pain, but if you insist on doing your own build and get stuck, just message me. As far as Windows, considering I have never built a coin on Windows, and I really, really don't like Windows except for playing Borderlands II, my current impression is that building for WIndows is super totally a pain in the ass, but I'm sure I'll figure all the details out soon and end up feeling differently about it.

WHY THE HECK I'M MAKING THIS COIN INSTEAD OF GETTING VACATION R & RBecause:

- Kitteh is a happy meme that always makes me smile, which was what Doge should have been, but was instead turned into yet another humorless moneymaking device.
- Learning about how cryptocurrencies work is fascinating and enthralling. I've been wanting to clone a coin as a basis for feature exploration for quite some time, and KittehCoin was perfect.
- I want to help you have a crap-load of fun too, especially on days when BTC charts are painted long-red and you need comic relief
Kittehcoin pokes a bit of friendly fun at Doge, makes no pretense to be a millionaire-maker or a thinly veiled pump and dump (OH.MY.GOD I hate those words) scheme, requires the miner or holder to have a sense of humor (which I hear is a leading cause of happiness), and will be subject to changes to core algorithms such as the subsidy (reward) calculation, Max Coins, blocks per day, etc. according to the general consensus of those developing, and mining, MEOW see fit.
Kitteh is still young, and her initial parameters and meant to evolve, driven by the core design principles that Kitteh must be: fun to mine, fun to hold, and fun to spend. With so many people here on bitcointalk being orders of magnitude smarter than me,
I hope someone else joins me in having some fun with Kitteh!

The upcoming feature I'm really, really excited about:Kittehcoin will (hopefully) be the first coin to extend sendtoaddress to integrate with Namecoin's
nameid to enable the use of a single, unique, network-secured identity secured by the bitcoin network, which is easy to remember, as an alias for ALL coin transactions. Sort of like DNS for people and the currency baskets they hold.

Er, um, I digress.. basically, instead of a coin address you'll have an id/yourname address which will contain within it the actual addresses to your cryptocoins. So for example, on nameid, I'm 'id/sebastian' and you then see my public data at
https://nameid.org/?name=sebastian or by querying namecoind if you have it installed by typing:
kittehcoind name_show id/sebastian
I own this identity, and nobody but me can change its contents, which can include: my email address, a mailing address, a list of various cryptocurrency addresses, public PGP keys, etc). That's the real awesomeness of Namecoin - not just .bit domain names - and I want to integrate this awesomeness into a coin client. It's not hard to implement and the benefits to using a system like this are innumerable. So, Kitteh is going to be my willing subjec- err- partner to implement this feature on.
Then people will be able to send me kittehcoin just by typing:
kittehcoind sendtoaddress id/sebastian 1000Much better than coin addresses, right? Just think of the eyestrain alone we'll all collectively save if we stop that semi-conscious squinty address check thing we all do even when we copy / paste coin addresses!
Of course, I hope (and expect) that people much smarter than I will bring some intelligent input into this thread and help co-create some other innovative stuff so that we can evolve kittehcoin into a coin that's fun to mine, fun to hold, and fun to use.

SUPER ANNOYING ALL CAPS MESSAGE FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE MINED AT KITTEHCOINPOOL.COMIf you signed up early on with kittehcoinpool.com's pool and you're still getting 50 reward per block, here's your fix:
STOP using the worker you created but DONT DELETE IT! I'll need it to calculate your MEOW OWED.
CREATE a new worker, and use it. Now, your new worker is getting paid via PPS. No more 50 coins per block bullshit... (I love mpos but damn a line or two in their FAQ about this would have saved me undue stress and upset messages from miners... No matter, I shall - and Kitteh shall - prevail, and kitteh will turn angry miners into happy miners when she sends you the MEOW due to you!)
I will be auditing the entirety of the kittehcoinpool DB to determine the correct payouts for everyone who has mined in the pool. Once I've completed this task (oh it's gonna take a while and be so not-fun, unless an MPOS geek would be willing to help me out with this, and yes the bold print is my way of asking for your help, oh MPOS master!).
