You are really thinking it would not happen in the near future because instead of your son your thinking for your grand kids to benefit your savings. I don't know if I can ever see that price but I hope I will. Bitcoin has been very consistent when it comes to rising it's price and sometimes it rises abruptly that it reach into the point that it surprise and amaze us. I am a believer of bitcoin no matter what crisis will happen so I will not limit the possibility that it will happen in the near future.

We are sometime focusing in Chinese Goverment news at the mean time I am focusing in Chinese People. Did anyone think about that Chinese Government indirectly handled a lot of profit to Bitcoin? I think no or some yes. It's good to be realistic but we should not underestimate what bitcoin can do and deliver, you might be surprise when that time happens that we will reach $10,000.

Unfortunately OP will not be around by that time so maybe OP can just give it to his son/daughter . No point? I'll give you one. OP is into long term investment in bitcoins. He's in this for the long run. He's not some kind of panic seller that cares about all these ups and downs.
