Your thoughts on when BTC will reach $1000 again?

It looks like we are in a gentle upward climb from the low point. Frankly, I prefer this to the wildly climbing prices we've had in the past that were unsustainable. According to my projection chart below we should hit $1000 on Mt. Gox on January 13th. This of course is barring any unforeseen news.

This is pretty much what I meant when I said "January; February latest" - you put it into mathematics.

Keep the unexpected news in mind though, true!

We will see how it plays out and if we are right.

Might get wobbly from next week on as more people buy in, and then as we approach 1,000 I guess some more might sell off, although it seems like most are content to sit tight.

I do predict one thing with absolute certainty. If this line continues to the weekend you will see an increase in posts screaming "Low volume!", "Manipulation!", "Mac-Ds on the EM 74 calling bear market, Roger!", etc. as those who have waited for the last drop to the $300s try hard to justify why they should be able to buy in at lower prices. The FUD will increase this weekend as it is the last chance for a no-reason panic sell; afterwards we are properly into January 2014 and the small shoot of a line that has developed over the past couple of weeks will steadily gain support as it grows into a good strong tree in the early months of the year!

Do you mean manipulation to the upside? Did you mean "why they should be able to buy in at higher prices"? Otherwise I don't really get what you are saying here.

Anyways, in regards to manipulation, BTC is every investor's wet dream! Comparably very difficult to do. I have been investing in gold/silver, and the free market doesn't play the slightest role anymore there. That market is about shameless daily hardcore manipulation...

The weak hands seem to be pretty much out of BTC, that's my feeling. Really nothing happening at the moment, everybody is on vacation or so. The real market action will resume next week with more volatility, but if that trend holds or not, I can't say.

You want stability but you are also thinking we'll reach 1000 AND 10,000 -very- soon?  Isn't that the opposite the stability??  Stability is basically what we've had in the last couple of weeks.  For bitcoin a relatively thin min max over the last week.  This is building up a good support base at this levels.  I don't mind mind the nice slow steady climb we've had for a couple of weeks.  Would I like to see 10k?  Of course.  But patience is ok.  I'm sticking to my time period of 3 years for $5k or above.

I do think Bitcoin will go up, but I have to say it is not the stories of people buying tropical paradises etc. that keeps me interested. It is a mix of the technology + ideology + history (which makes it look very much like now is the right time for an innovation like this) + virality +... a strong hunch ! I have invested, but unless Bitcoin does go to 100,000 + per coin I will not be buying any tropical paradises!

that piece of land in nicaragua I think is very affordable even now that particular tropical paradise comes with total surrounding poverty, military junta in power, no real services (medical, communal, schools, shops), insects and poisonous snakes and other things they don't mention in the paradise prospects

You mention something that I don't hear much about, timing.  I think the timing of Bitcoin is perfect or near perfect.  If Bitcoin came out in the late 90's or even early 2000's, I don't think it would have had nearly as much of a chance.  Bandwidth aside, just the state of the overall economy in the world.  Everything was considered "ok" as compared to now.  No US debt at $17T, no Euro countries basically going bankrupt, etc.  I think the world is ready for a currency that is free from all the worldwide debt.  While gold is a good hedge (a huge distinction vs investment), gold is a lot tougher to be used as an everyday vehicle for buying, trading, and selling goods on the open market.

Btw, the timing of BTC is no coincidence... The first block was mined just a couple of months after that economical catastrophe in the fall of 2008... Satoshi knew what was up...

On one hand, the price developement is really stable and its just going one direction - up! I have been waiting for a pullback for many days, but it just doesn't come. On the other hand, price almost always comes back a little bit and it's not good to hurry.

Maybe I will just wait a little bit for higher volume at least.

Yeah, about that. I bought at 360. Then again at 1130. And at 700. Other than the 1130 one, everything has made a profit. I could be like so many others, wait, watch, hope for a dip. But why? Nothing is certain except that the price will go up over time. And if I had waited for an opportune moment instead of buying whenever I had a little space pocket change I would have less than I do now. The best time to buy is always as soon as possible unless you happen to have insider knowledge of a major event that will make the price dip.

I can't completely agree there. If price has just gone up a lot (like to 1.200), and you read extremely bullish sentiment all over the forum, then some pullback is likely. That's why I didn't buy at 1.200, but instead waited and bought almost at the lowest possible point afterwards (and then again a small chunk at 640).

I will admit though that China helped, and had we seen some very positive news instead, I might have had to buy in higher than 1.200.

If china had stayed in we could easily be at 1500+ now. Can't plan for what you can't predict. And yeah people are bullish. Why wouldn't we be? That's not a good reason to wait, this isn't like a normal stock.
